    Ok, so what can you put on the edges of the PPF to keep it from accumulating dirt? Can you cover with Ceramic coating, spray wax, paste wax or ??? mine has a dark edge where the dirt sticks to it.

    Ya then how many years you have to replace whole film. Plus yellowing of film over time if not maintained. Had them both and film on hood and bumper with ceramic on rest if vehicle is the the best combination I found.

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  Год назад +5

      Hey! Thanks for watching our videos! Keep in mind on yellowing film alot of that depends on the brand of film used or the age. In our experience we use XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film which carries a 10 year warranty against yellowing. Also not only should you ceramic coat your painted surfaces not protected with paint protection film, but putting ceramic coating over the paint protection film to protect it from the UV rays is highly recommended because UV is one of the main causes of film deterioration.

    For ultimate protection, are you advocating for a first layer of ceramic coasting, then a layer of PPF, and then another layer of ceramic coating? Wow! That's so expensive. Is there a simpler way?

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  9 месяцев назад +7

      Absolutely not, we recommend that you do PPF on the crucial areas such as the front end and rocker panels, and then apply the ceramic coating over the ppf and the paint. Also keep in mind that you can not ceramic coat first and then apply ppf, the job of ceramic coating is to make your paint slick so that things do not want to stick to it. Which means ppf also would not like to stick to it.

    • @WGAutoWraps

      The best way to clean the edge of ppf is with a ppf cleaner such as what we sell. Then you put some of that cleaner on a Q-Tip and rub along the edges and wipe clean with a microfiber, then ta-da! The edges are clean. That was a great question! Thank you for watching!

    Does either repel pollen??! I car gets instantly coated with pollen after wash.

    • @WGAutoWraps

      Great question! It doesnt “repel” pollen per say, but just makes it easier to clean off. It also takes long for it to build up allowing your car to stay cleaner a little longer between washes than without it.

      @lordberly 11 месяцев назад

      in theory, yes

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  10 месяцев назад

      To a degree yes black is more susceptible because it attracts much more heat. If UV protection is what you are mainly concerned with, we would suggest protecting your paint with a high quality ceramic coating such as XPEL Fusion Plus.

  • @evanro00

    Any advantage to adding film protection over ceramic coating?

    • @petreticu6008
      @petreticu6008 10 месяцев назад +2

      Ceramic coatings dont protect your clear against heavier scratches, only light scratches and it has great chemical resistance, whereas ppf has all that plus the heavier scratches protection. Also a ceramic coating, or whats left of it after lets say 2-3-5-9 years can be removed by polish, the ppf can simply be removed with heat gun and eventually reaplied, with no polish required, only maybe a proper wash and decon. Ceramic coating is like a weaker clearcoat, ppf is like a soft elastic blanket, but also hard to pierce and self healing in some cases (for the more expensive ones).

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  10 месяцев назад +1

      You cannot add ppf over ceramic coating. You have to do ceramic coating over ppf. Ceramic coating will protect your paint fading from UV. PPF does not have UV protection. This is because most consumers only cover the front of their vehicle in PPF so if it blocked UV then after 10 years the rest of the vehicle would have faded but not where the film was. This is why PPF does not block UV.

    • @javiervasquez29
      @javiervasquez29 Год назад +1

      Gloss on ceramic is way much shiny then ppf. Ppf is bland. It's like matte paint vs gloss.

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  Год назад +1

      The gloss on XPEL Ultimate PPF is still very shiny, and often times you can’t tell a difference before the PPF was installed versus after. The main time you will see a difference in the glossiness of the paint is if you go with the XPEL Stealth option, which will give the whole car a satin/matte looking finish. When it comes to ceramic coating a car however, there will definitely be a higher gloss finish afterwards where the coating really makes the paint shine and glow.

    My 2014 Mustang GT convertible is currently at the paint shop being painted Fighter Jet Gray. I'm considering PPF for the entire hood, the front bumper and both front side panels and then a ceramic coat on the whole car. What is an average cost to do the PPF on what I mentioned? Film and labor.

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  Год назад

      If we were to guess it would be about 1600 to 2200 for the PPF and 1600$ for ceramic coating 🏁👏 this all depends on the quality of work quality of material as well as location

    • @WGAutoWraps
      @WGAutoWraps  Год назад +2

      Hey! Thanks so much for watching! A full paint protection film wrap in general is a great idea, but can also be a costly investment. A few questions to ask yourself. 1. Are you going to take it off roading? 2. Will it be subject to harsh enviornments (construction zones, rail yards, oil fields, etc.) 3. how long are you going to keep the vehicle? if you answered yes to either question 1 or 2 then we recommend ppf on the full body. If you said no to question 1 or 2 but for question 3 you answered 5 or more years, then we would also recommend doing the full body. Other wise we would recommend doing the full front end, with a ceramic coating over the entire vehicle including the paint protection film.
