I remember this show well. It was on CBS into the early 1970's. It went through a few hosts. Wally Bruner comes to mind. I recall Tiny Tim as a mystery guest.
John discovered 5 hours before WML air time that Mike Wallace was the scheduled mystery guest. He called Fates and refused to appear with Wallace. Fates booked Sammy Davis, Jr. Next morning, Kilgallen's article "Daly Bars Wallace: SWITCH IN GUESTS AVERTS HASSLE ON WHAT'S MY LINE?" appeared in the Journal American. After the broadcast Dorothy pried the details from Bob Bach. Aside from the mechanics needed to operate the program, Daly didn't speak to Dorothy for 6 months.
09:38 >> You go Bennett! The pun is one of the higher forms of humor -- and this is live TV, so Bennett improvised his puns during and after games and did not have a script.. Wonder how many of the current crop of corporate directors could do that if they appeared on a modern WML or any live TV for that matter.

We are in 2020 and Mirella Ricciardi (neé Rocco) is still on this world.
