It seemed like Joey Bishop was trying to take over the show like Groucho Marx did on a lot of shows he appeared on, but it's obvious he wasn't successful here.
@roots66 Yes, well, it took me a few tries to find it, not too many, but I was thinking of your remarks vis-a-vis the entertaining Face Lifter episode you provided.
Freeze at 2:17 -- after Dorothy Kilgallen's death, the producers toyed with the idea of replacing her with Phyllis Newman and they also toyed with the idea of replacing Dorothy with some other bright professional female writer type. Among those types who appeared a number of times on WML-- Ms. Gurley Brown in her early modern period. The title on the screen suggests this was Ms. Brown's first appearance on WML.
Watching the guest shake hands with the panel, I had an afterthought. And it is one that I offer with some trepidation as I know our dear roots66 -- a beloved Prime Mover in these matters -- enjoys Hal Block. But after seeing him all these many times, it occurs to me that only he could make Joey Bishop seem like Abraham Lincoln, or at least Averill Harriman.
@@XMLarry If Ben isn't trolling, it's mind-boggling he couldn't figure out this was in the past. I mean, the Black&White film and hair/clothes don't give it away?
I love it when the panel is so totally baffled!
I believe this episode was on July 24th, 1966.
Never realized Helen was young once upon a time.
"John loves it when we're stupid." (3:50) Joey may be onto something there.
She must have been a Shea Stadium usher in some parallel universe.
Thanks very much.

He doesn’t have the wit of Groucho
@@jmadratz No kidding.
give her a couple of acting lessons and she could be ginger on gilligan's island.
I've seen tons of these What's My Line segments, and I notice that Bennet Cerf seems to be surprised a lot when he guesses wrong. "You're not?"
Bennett was a snob
Bennet must have really been off his game that night. He didn't normally repeat questions that had already been asked.

Ha! I didn't know I had a rep as a Block-booster!

Damn, HGB got further on her first turn than the whole panel often does in a whole segment.
Say what you want about her, but she didn't get to be the success magazine publisher she was by being stupid! LOL
A couple? surely the one would be enough :-)
I think Joey was just lost.
@xXxXBleedPurpleXxXx oh ok thanks
Goodlooking....Let's Go Mets...⚾️
Bishop was totally annoying.
I think he is funny
Swedishness???
Was Joey Bishop trying to be funny? Cuz he was hilarious.
JB tries too hard to be funny.

This was in the 1960"s when Shea Stadium was brand new
