Ohhhh, when Vinny played B3313 again a few days ago, he mentioned (and showed) a spreadsheet he was using, and it looked VERY similar to the one you showed off. Now that it's public, I see that it is the exact same one, so I guess you or someone else gave Vinny a link to the spreadsheet so he could reference it, cool!
Yep, you can actually see my name at the bottom of it in his stream too. I did email him after the first stream with a link to it, and I offered to write up some instructions to reach interesting areas if he was interested. Never got a reply though, so I assumed he never read it.
@@BikdipOnABus vinny's emails are actually vetted by I think his mods first, so there could be a bit of a delay, or he did end up seeing it and just isn't going to play again so he didn't pay it much mind.
I obsess over this romhack and its secrets, and videos like these further my interest in the game. I'm glad these overviews exist. As much as I can learn about it, even if it rides the line of being spoiled on certain areas it will always renew some part of me that would want to boot up the romhack and check it out myself. While some of the bigger topics have been tackled, there are still some pieces and secrets that could be a great help to people if they might not know about what can permanently alter a save file. While one of the most important changes to the experience of B3313 is the Red Stars and how they affect the moveset and warps, another thing that could be covered that lots of casual players end up facing is the Hard Mode of the game. Shedding some light on it, it can be a great service to people who might not want to encounter how seriously annoying Hard Mode is. What could trigger it, what objects are introduced and maybe a little more about other objects that the game throws at you randomly as well like the silver or invisible dotted coins. If there is anything interesting to point out about them of course. Thank you very much for these great videos. They do, again enhance my interest and experience with the romhack.
Pretty sure from what TGR has suggested, hard mode content is triggered by collecting red stars (which contradicts bikdip's claim that all the ones collected after the first 2 don't do anything). Gradually getting more of them introduces more of the hard mode elements.
@@RollyPollyPal It's not red stars. They might contribute, but there's a lot of factors that determine the difficulty. Some of it is just the total number of stars collected (I think), but it's also based on how often you die/take damage, how long you spend in areas, and a ton of other stuff.
@@BikdipOnABus I'm not sure, I can personally attest to several elements not showing up until i collected more red stars. I know that the purple coins and the glitch textures never occurred for example until shortly after I picked up a new red star for each. could just be anecdotal though
Randomly got this video recommended to me, kind of crazy that you are still going. As a little kid I remember using your Zelda Classic tutorial to learn how to use it and playing through stuff like Mitch and the Adventures (and that was what, 15 years ago? crazy how I still remember them so clearly.) Hope you've been doing good o7
Yeah, I'm still truckin' along. Have you seen any of my videos on Bikdip's Adventure 3 yet? I've got a pretty meaty trailer that was uploaded last year if you're interested in that.
I've been playing this hack at least like 2-3 hours a day every day since it's released, and just when I think i've figured it out I always find that there's more stuff. Love the videos you make on it!
This might go against your desire to not spoil the most interesting things about the game, but a compilation of every scare/crash/special event (or, just how to reach them without actually showing them) would be neat
I love that when you started explaining the stars with the graphs and stuff, you used the flipped version of the file select theme, like an alternate reality pannenkoek.
The spreadsheet is absolutely goated Godlike work my dude, thanks a million for it! This may be the end of you covering 0.9, but I do hope to see you again whenever the real 1.0 drops (if it does) Cheers!
Hi, I'm native Ukrainian, do u have a discord name or server?:-) And how are you doing? I'm alright decided to entertain myself a little with B3313 videos.
"B3313 or Build 3313 (also called SM64 Internal Plexus) is a ROM Hack of Super Mario 64 developed by ChrisRLillo and his dev team. It is the largest beta-based SM64 hack to date, especially regarding the number of accessible areas, but also the star count and various other aspects. ... There are 131 areas (135 if you count all instances of Checkerboard and Snow Slider separately), each with at least one intended warp leading to them. Due to the hack's confusing and inconsistent nature, trying to find a linearity and/or pattern between them is a futile effort, and should rather be considered an open-world system with no clear edges." wow
Given it updated the moment you touched the star instead of when you saved, I'd say it's most likely reading the RAM area that gets copied to the save chip when you click the save option. I bet that could make for some neat effects. I mean, how scary would it be if part of a horror event was to silently save the current star list and then temporarily clear it in RAM? The save would be quietly loaded back in afterward, and of course loaded as normal if the player quit prematurely, so no progress is actually lost; but just imagine the look on a player's face when the star display (and most likely the ingame counter as well, since it updates with the same timing when collecting a star) suddenly loses _everything._
Anyone have ANY idea why the hud changes or the star and coin counter positions change? Does it mean anything? Or is it just more fuel to make you feel like you’re going crazy?
It's basically just random. Some areas have it set in stone, and some either have it randomized or keep whatever you had from thr last map. It's never relevant to anything as far as I know (other than being a way to tell which version you're in for certain duplicate maps).
I like the idea of having duplicate and fake stars as they make everything feel more off in a sense. Having 10-20% be duplicates I think would be the minimum to work well. Any more and it becomes too common. Any less and you won't ever notice it. Especially since by design you're looking for Red stars, keys, and maybe Green Stars. It may have been placeholder but I think some of them should stay.
Yeah, I think keeping some would be fine. Depending on how things go, I may end up actually being responsible for assigning all the Star IDs for the full 1.0 release, so there'll probably be some dupes/fakes left in on purpose for that exact reason.
Green Stars are speed runner challenge I think they are adding in game hints why you needed perfect jumps getting that one in the video. Really hope that's not a thing tho cause I really don't care about learning BLJ. Also the stars you collected that did not count and still stayed yellow is just a bug everyone keep stating not some troll.
@@chlorobyte_projects I doubt that very much. The water version of Lethal Lava shown in this video has about 3 fake stars. You gonna tell me they purposely did this to waste your time finding the real one? Actually now that I think more on it, you're right but, again they're probably bugged ID's in the wrong map. These stars belong to said troll area maps and not maps in said video. I.E Peaches Cake.
Can you make a video about the effects of having certain star numbers does in the game? I reached around ~130 stars and all non-special goombas have turned blue and drop blue (non-damaging) coins, while actively running away from me when I approach

this might be a pretty niche want and I understand if you wouldn't consider it a good idea or worth doing, but I'd kind of like more in the vein of your "Understanding Castle Grounds and Lobbies" video. Like a video about convenient routes to different castles would be fairly useful as a half-step to using a full-on map. For example there's a door in the very back of the Plexal Lobby leading to a room which itself has doors to 3 or 4 different castles and I'm always going back there for its useful access, rooms like that I think would be useful to make note of in a video. Whether you choose to do more videos on this or not thank you for what you've covered, I can see myself coming back to them as I gradually make my way through the game. I'm trying to hold off on spoiling Cap Switch and Red Star locations, but it's reassuring to know your videos are there if I ever need them.
Man how long did it take for you to remember where to go in this rom? Me and my bro got about 190 stars and got all 13 red stars. We got the same ending twice with the monochrome castle and the bad ending in the dark monochrome castle. Is that the true ending of this hack? It added the star to the Wing Cap Course coin score, which just counts as a normal star. The real red stars are only in slots 14-4 through 14-8 and 15-1 through 15-8 (coin score slots, not regular).
