  • Should you read Breach of Peace?
A fellow booktuber has published a book, and that's extremely exciting! Daniel Greene has published the first novella in his fantasy book series, Breach of Peace. I want to give a Quick Review as well as cover the issues that I ran into while reading this book with this being his first book published reasonably there are going to be some issues, and there's only growth from here as a writer.

"An author's first book should be their worst book" is a great attitude to have when reviewing new authors. Solid video as always Laxxia.

Thank you thank you! Yeah I think it's hard sometimes to realize that authors gotta start somewhere, Elantris while fun is probably the weakest book from Brandon and that's fine!!

@@Laxxia_ Oh I don't think that's contested, at least not in the cosmere fans I hang around with. It's not even that Elantris, or any author's first book, is bad, it's just so often clear they are writing to get started and not writing to tell a story.

I like that you are not a traditional Booktuber who is just vomiting back the plot of the book and calling it a day. Most that I've seen are that way. Not all but a lot. Thanks for actually talking about what works and doesn't. Haven't read this but I like Greene because he also talks more about what works and doesn't. So good job. I'll stay posted to see more thoughts on books I've read.

Thanks! I always try to prioritize what I can say that's constructive be it positive or negative, I want to make sure there something useful in there for viewers at least even if we disagree on liking the book. Vagaries and summarizations are only so useful or interesting tbh

on the other side of things, killing off the characters you were SUPPOSED to like could help to generate a disdain for the world, and the systems within that world, if that was the intent and executed properly then it could be viewed in a positive light.

Oh I absolutely agree, and perhaps that is what Daniel Greene was aiming for, but I just think it falls short in this instance. Perhaps because it's his first foray into writing.
