Of course! Anyone who has a soulmate can guarantee a I won't say 'happy' but satisfactory relationship. Because sometimes your soulmate is human and can make mistakes.
This has to be the ultimate way to charm/chat up a girl. I know he's gay and they are friends but could easily work in a straight relationship. One of the best endings to a movie.
Will not work in a relationship. As friends, you can do this once a week, twice a month. You want to find someone to be charismatic and charming everyday? Good luck.
it's ironic. I mean the scene when Cameron Diaz's character screams and hugs him, and after that, 7 years later they both voiced Fiona and Charming. that's so ironic
Good scene, to have her friend cheer her up and make her laugh knowing how hard it was to see the man she loved marry someone else, it’s always good to see scenes like this because really everyone needs good people in their lives a good friend not only is your partner in crime, or someone that is brutally honest with you but also a person who supports you and who’s there for you in your saddest moments.
Saw something o RUclips that said they originally had a totally different ending and the audience hated it. So they reshot it and came up with this. IMHO they nailed it with this ending
An unconventional but great ending. She doesn't get what she wants nor does the tight guy just fall in to her also. Instead she's reminded that there's at least one person in her life that loves her, albeit not romantically but it's still no less meaningful
Man I love this movie! Wish I had a friend like George. Someone who, even when you make a complete arse of yourself, still loves you unconditionally and comes with thread and needle in hand in the form of brilliant charm and grace, to help mend your broken heart back together again.
George Downes: Suddenly, a familiar song. And, you're off your chair in one, exquisite movement... wondering, searching, sniffing the wind like a dapple deer. Has God heard your little prayer? Will Cinderella dance again? And then, suddenly, the crowds part and there he is: sleek, stylish... radiant with charisma. Bizarrely, he's on the telephone. But then, so are you. And then he comes towards you... the moves of a jungle cat. Although you quite correctly sense that he is... gay... like most devastatingly handsome single men of his age are, you think... what the hell. Life goes on. Maybe there won't be marriage... maybe there won't be sex... but, by God, there'll be dancing.
apparently in the original final scene, she was meant to meet a guy (played by John Corbett) but it didnt work with test audiences, they basically wanted her character dead for all she'd done haha so they expanding George's role and created a scene that just...worked and allowed people to 'forgive' julia's character
I don't think her character can be consider as either bad or good. We are all humans, we are destined to make mistakes (especially in relation to love and relationships) Therefore, in my view she deserves a happy ending as much as the other one.
this ending was EVERYTHING. it was this ending that eased Julianne's pain at the same time made us feel sorry for her. (But i did wish that she and Michael should have been together)
@@jenellakirk7079 I think the whole point was that her n Michael needed to get the will we or won’t we out fo the way because as great friends as they are they wouldn’t last as lovers.
In my opinion, she got a fairytale ending although she didn't know it. The guy she wanted was very selfish (that's obvious from the scene where he's so mean to his fiance for asking if he would work for her father) and he lead Julianne on throughout the whole movie. He had to know what he was doing. His fiance, Kimmy, seemed to be desperate for his love to the point that she was willing to throw all her dreams away because she knew she would either have her own dreams realized or his love; he would not let her have both. Their marriage was doomed with that dynamic as it was. If Julianne did get her guy in the end, there would be a lot of guilt for her because of the way she got him (trickery and ruining another person's wedding). With this ending she gets to have a fresh start and maybe meet someone even better and kinder, perhaps.
As such is life, we mostly leave relationships and think about the what ifs along with the what we could have done to change it. We don't initially assume that the better choice for us was that we are no longer with that person and instead will meet our fairytale partner who works so much better with us. I love this ending because of that statement. However, I think Kimmy is happy, it might work out for them. I agree that about her being second to Michael and I would be absolutely miserable in her position as just a wife, but some women find greater satisfaction in being a mom or a housewife. In fact my husband wants to stay at home and take care of the kids, he is happier like that. I can't bring myself to convince them otherwise if they are happy. I would rather help the women like us pave our place further in fields of STEM or male dominated workplaces, make them feel welcomed and encouraged.
Love this ending. she didn't unrealistically find some other random guy at the wedding right after doing the right thing in giving up the man she did love and was deeply attached to. Instead she was realistically hurting at the loss, and in the process of dealing with that pain. The point of the ending was that while she was suffering in the loss of one love she had another love in a dear platonic friend to help pull her out of her misery. Having him there gave her comfort and allowed her to enjoy herself in spite of her pain. It left the viewer with the feeling that she had her dear friends love and comfort to pull her through and eventually she too would move on with someone else. It left us knowing she would eventually be alright.
I will admit that Ive seen this scene quite a few times... when life was not good however this scene is so uplifting in giving myself to make mistakes and have a good laugh
That voice is unmistakeable! It just dawned on me now as I watched the movie again that it was Phillip Ingram but I couldn't find it anywhere in the credits or by googling! I was a huge fan of Switch, and the various members of. Thanks for that info Perry!
I haven’t seen this film since I was a little kid. I didn’t realize George was gay lol! They would still make an awesome couple “maybe there won’t be marriage . Maybe there won’t be sex 😬 but by God there will be dancing.”
I need a friend just like George...a gay man is probably the best friend a woman could have...just my own observation....I love this scene very much : (
At 03:18 you can see that the ending was reshot. Julia Roberts was originally going to end up with a wedding guest played by John Corbett but test audience disliked it. At the end of the shot in 03:18 you get a glimpse of Roberts dancing tight with Corbett.

@@OpiumBride lol sure
But you know George isn't her soulmate, he is gay, she didn't end up with anyone
Everybody needs a George ;)
even straight men need a George, for sure!
Definitely yes!!!
I really need a friend like George :)
@@annamariapetrov6709 Many people need a wonderful friend like George...
but nobody wants to be George
Then.. Suddenly... You want to watch the whole movie again.
I know right.
I love this scene. Is bittersweet but I loved it. It makes me smile and cry at the same time :)
Ra Rodri ....i understand your feelings..
me to ;))
George should have been her best friend, not the other guy.

God her smile is just RADIANT. Julia Roberts is on of the most gorgeous people on this planet.
I love his voice. Prince Charming from Shrek

perfect end for a perfect movie...TIMELESS AND AGELESS.....

Mr. Darcy: How do you encourage affection?
Lizzie Bennet: Dancing...even if one's partner is barely tolerable.
Literally was thinking of Pride And Prejudice :)
