I'm so glad that I found your channel, a new one to add to my great library of journal/ creation activities!! I have been watching youtube forever and I have never seen mirror printing.. I thank you for showing us how to do that!! You are a wonderful teaching example!! Your ephemera and tags and specimen pieces are so unique and wonderful... TFS
Love the problem solving on the go - I love to see your creative brain in progress :) Fine tulle or Lace as the background would look gorgeous for a one sided image or specimen. Love your channel - retired florist Helen
I stumbled upon your channel this morning, and I'm SO glad I did! I love your specimen cards so much. I'm a card maker as a rule, but I've been dipping my toes into journal making, and I must admit that I absolutely love it. I really love the popular grungy, industrial, vintage look, but when I'm actually making cards, journals, or home decor, "shabby chic" is much more my style. I love the pastel colors, the lace, flowers, and butterflies. I'm definitely going to use your inspiration to whip up a few of the specimen cards. Your cards would make terrific card fronts, but I think I'll give them a try in a journal that I've been working on. Thank you so much, Annette, for sharing your ideas and inspiration with us. Again, I'm so happy that I found you!
Well, hello Michele and welcome! It's great to have you here and I'm excited you liked the specimen cards and my style. Sounds like we are much the same. And I agree, specimen cards would be great as card fronts too. Excellent idea!
Love all of them. Im going to have to make some for my journals. I don't have a dye cutter, but I can do a lot of these using punches, my different edged scissors and a craft knife to create the specimen opening. I'll have to give it a try after I get adjusted to a new med.
Hi, I just found you and love your ideas. I will be watching and making alongside. Thank you so much for everything you do for us crafters that need inspiration.!
Annette, these are just beautiful. I was not familiar with specimen cards, so this was extremely interesting. I guess I live under a rock because your techniques are new to me. But hey, I did get a mini pancake maker and have had so much fun making things, especially with shrink paper. So thank you for that!!
Thanks Marie! There's always something new to learn out there, isn't there? I'm constantly finding out about things I never knew. I'm glad you got a pancake maker and have been enjoying it.
Thank you so much Annette, I really really enjoyed watching you create those adorable specimen cards. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤ them. Very very unique and cute too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching you create all these wonderful goodies Annette! I’ve got a die cut machine ordered, so I can have some time playing and trying out what you’ve shown us today. You’re such an incredible artist and I’ve learned so much!❤❤❤
I'm so happy to hear you've been enjoying my videos. Thanks so much for the super sweet comment. You've truly made my DAY! I hope you have a ton of fun when your die-cutting machine arrives.
Your specimen cards are all gorgeous! Your papers really add such a nice look to them too. That sticky grid technique is awesome. I would love one for my misti but for now I tried my little gelli plate in my misti. Only thing is it is thicker so the misti doesn’t completely close but I did get it to work just not quite as good as yours but not too bad. I love having a two sided die-cut butterfly for specimen cards…yay!
Thanks Belinda! Isn't that mirror stamping cool? The RUclipsr I saw doing this technique used her silicone mat she normally uses in her die-cutting machine. I suppose that works as long as you have the cushion mat in your Misti as well, otherwise it's too thin. I don't have one of those mats (I thought I did, but don't, LOL) so that's why I just tried out this Waffle Flower grip mat.
@@AnnetteGreen I know! I’ve seen others use their white silicone mat to do the mirror stamping and other things but your idea to make it be exactly mirrored behind the original image using a stamp positioner tool is so clever! Way to go….love it!
Thanks so much Cheryl. If you do a search, you'll see a zillion come up but they're all the traditional vintage brown distressed look. I'm so happy you liked my take on them. Give them a try!
These are fun. I'm glad you left the mistakes in, so we can see how you corrected them. I do love the vintage look, but I'm glad you showed other samples too.
I really like almost all window ephemera and yours are beautiful!! Thank you! If you know that you are going to use fussy cuts double sided, you could just flip the image and print it out that way too, then you could cut them out and glue together and voila, double sided! Yay!Thank you!
Great Specimen cards. I have done some with dried flowers in the past as well but I struggle with proper seal around the flower when laminating. Perhaps I am using too heavy of laminating sheets, or....... it could be the operator. This has motivated me to keep trying. :)
Thanks Celine. Does your laminator have two settings like mine does? When I do the very thin real flowers, I set it to the 3 mil setting. When I do the cardstock cut-outs or thicker artificial flowers, I set it to 5 mil. Mine are sealed very nicely. Also, do the whole sheet as opposed to small pieces of the laminating sheets. That's what is recommended for the best seal, at least on my machine. Hope that helps you before trying again.
@@AnnetteGreen Hi Annette. It doesn't. just an on and off switch. Not top of the line for sure but I am going to try some different weight of the sheets. Thanks.
I just found your channel. I love that you've found a different way to do specimen cards. I like the Tim Holtz grunge look, but I'm getting rather bored with how many creators are doing the same thing. I haven't really found my style yet, but I don't want to do more of the same. 🇨🇦😃
I saw a video where someone used a silicone mat that one would normally use for embossing through their die-cutting machine. I didn't have that, so I tried mine instead. I would test out things you have to see what works.
They are just fun additions/embellishments which I will use in my junk journal tucked into pockets, but you can use them any which way you like. Woudn't they be fun to add to a gift bag as an added little goodie when giving a gift to someone?
Question......the Grip Matt isn't that sticky? How does the ink come off it then? I like this idea of reverse stamping. This seems to be a quick and simple technique but it's not clicking for me. Thanks
The grip mat is "tacky" but not sticky. Any silicone mat would work I believe. I just didn't have one so I tried this. They key is to make sure whatever mat your use, it's thick enough or shimmed enough so that your stamp makes good contact.
I agree, and it doesn't seem to matter what light I choose. The shiny plastic is going to be an issue unfortunately. Ideally, I would make RUclips video outside on a table with no lamps! 😆
