One of *THE* greatest and funniest films of the 80s. All the actors here are brilliant.

RIP Charles Grodin. Condolences to his family and friend. This was and is one of my favourite movies of all time and Mr. Grodin and his chemistry with Robert De Niro was one of the reasons why!
@abcun17 Wasn’t it phenomenal ? Deniro of course is blue collar and has specialized in City landscape toughs . Grodin is the successful white collar guy who has that something ain’t right about this guy regardless of his Reader’s Digest , suburbia lifestyle. I simply lost it in that box car scene where Grodin started making fun of Deniro’s speech patterns , demeanor etc. I wish these two would have done something else .

@Hearsticles This film just had me in stitches . Yes Deniro is the legend but Grodin has some.comedy Classics under his belt . This is actually my favorite film Grodin did . As I said in my comment on this video, did you sense that Grodin / Deniro had the potential to be one of those Classic Comedy teams . I think there could have been 2 more movies there but it just wasn’t meant to be .

I watched this movie with my brother in 2012 whom i lost to Cancer in 2020 Dec i miss him so much i still remember the night that we watch this movie together we laughed and enjoyed it alot. I miss him alot 😭
One of my fave films of all time. I love introduing it to people who've never seen it, which always amazes me.

Obviously Deniro and Grodins relationship makes the movie...but Farina,Ashton,Kotto and Pants are killer supporting cast.

Both leads in this movie have played Ben Stiller's father in law. Robert De Niro in Meet The Parents (and its sequels) and Charles Groin in Ben's new movie While We're Young.

heh i wrote that comment so long ago. I still think it's one of the best comedy action movie ever made.
I've watched a lotta De Niro films but surprisingly, this one stands out. That's probably because his role in this film was different. I totally adore the shots they used in this one. It's a mix of comedy, love, friendship, mafiaso stuff & more. I feel that this one's tremendously underrated. Terrific - terrific movie!

Yaphet Kotto. He was the star of the movie. Stealing those smokes. So subtly hilarious.

This is why editors get paid handsomely. Thank god so many of these scenes were cut out of the final, and many others used different takes of the same scene. Because EVERY single difference between the trailer and the final movie was MUCH better in the final release.

Two bullets to take down a helicopter. Dammit DeNiro, you're one crack shot.
Actually in the movie,unlike in the trailer, there are a lot more than 2 bullets.
Since the small rotor from the back of the helicopter,compensates for the swinging generated by the big main rotor,it's enough to hit one of its blade and the helicopter badly loses balance.

The biggest irony of this movie: Jack and the Duke can't stand each other. Yet, they were the only two people in the entire world who stood up to Jimmy C. out of principle.
Uncle Martin (Charles Grodin) in the movie was hilarious!
I 've just watched again, after about 20 years. Enjoyed it even more, although I'm seriously worried about contracting emphysema after watching de Niro suck on SO MANY smokes. I think the only time he had one out of his mouth was when he visited his ex and his beautiful young daughter, who completely stole the show from all the adult actors. She was phenomenal.

Great movie: all fun and games on the surface but within, it's a cast iron combination of intricate script writing and just excellent casting.

I've loved Charles Grodin since l was a child seeing him in LAST RESORT.... very nostalgic film for me.
Also enjoyed seeing him in THE WOMAN IN RED💃, which took me years to finally see.
Yeah a little late but RIP Charles Grodin . Of all the films he did , this was my favorite. Charles Grodin and Robert Deniro made what could have been a good but standard and soon to be forgotten comedy into a timeless Comedy Classic . Just laughing my ass at Grodin’s antagonism to Deniro being the straight guy who has to take the brunt of Grodin’s shenanigans. I know Deniro was the bigger star and I don’t know how these two got along but I wish they could’ve found another vehicle together . Could have been classic modern day team up akin to the Wilder/Pryor team but maybe it would be of the same level of the Jerry Lewis , Dean Martin pairing as Grodin and Deniro do seem like two clashing personalities . Grodin is suburbia white collar while Deniro is city street blue collar . It was said that Lewis & Martin’s incompatibility made it work . I sensed the same for these Midnight Run costars but it wasn’t meant to be .

Where did you find this trailer? Thanks! Hopefully; Universal will put this movie out on blu-ray in the near future. I also hope we'll get treated to these outtakes, deleted scenes, plus a commentary by Martin Brest. Did you know he seriously considered directing Rain Man? It would be interesting to hear Marty's story. I was at McCarran Airport last summer. Despite the updated technology & security, it was a treat to stand where they busted Serrano. One of my absolute favorites!

Word is they are making a sequel. That's pretty tricky since this is one of the finest "buddy" movies of all time. I mean.. anytime I find this on the tube, I gotta watch it to the end.. it's that good. one of DeNiro's best characters and Grodin has never been better-

This is great to watch with the director's commentary. Also great being the first one to the TV to watch you get to adjust the picture settings. The factory tint setting is always too high!
@marks47 Yeah; it's a shame about all the airport security (necessary though) having been installed since 1988. It was such a thrill to stand in that spot. It would be neat also if someone were to make a montage of 'Midnight's' filming locations. There used to be a video for 'Duel' (since removed), & there's also one for 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.' And; we're all still waiting on the 'Midnight' blu-ray!
