    The scene in Midnight Run with DeNiro and his daughter is such an incredible example of saying so much without words. His performance in that scene is heartbreaking.

      The part where he is standing there in front of her and realizes he has no idea what to say to her. Such a sad moment. One of the best movies I've ever seen, hands down.

      Everyone had been mean to DeNiro's character up to that point in the movie. Everybody seems to be out to be a pain in his butt.
      But then he reunites with his daughter, correlating with a shift in DeNiro's character. When his daughter offers him all her money, he realizes that there's still good in the world, and that maybe compassion is not such a foolish sentiment after all.

    Holy shit, "Midnight Run" and "Die Hard" on the same show? That's only two of the best action movies mixed with comedy ever made! "Midnight Run" has one of De Niro's best comedic performances he has ever put on film along with maybe "King Of Comedy" or "Analyze This". His chemistry with Grodin is excellent, as is the main cast, but Dennis Farina's turn as Jimmy Serrano is both hilarious and menacing at the same time, for example: "Don't say a word to me, Sidney, don't say a fucking word to me. I'll get up and bury this telephone in your head!"
    As far as "Die Hard" goes, well, everyone knows the awesomeness of this classic (except for the late, great Roger Ebert). No disrespect intended to Eastwood fans, but give me John McClane over Dirty Harry any day!
    And as for Phantasm II, it seems if you have a baseball bat you'd be fine, but if you don't, you're fucked!
    Also, did any 80's kids like me get a little nostalgic at seeing the VCR tracking bar at the beginning?
    Lastly, thank you andyfilm, for the upload!

    Great array of films. Midnight Run is one of the best films of the decade, and The Dead Pool is the best sequel to Dirty Harry.

  •  3 года назад +4

    What separated Siskel & Ebert from other TV movie critics is that they talked about big blockbusters like Die Hard and Dirty Harry but they also included films by french director Erich Rohmer. They were popular and intelectual at the same time.

    • @evilsWa
      @evilsWa 2 года назад

      Yeah right… What separated them from other TV movie critics was the fact that they were the only TV movie critics nationally known… Please don’t start talking about the 80s as if it was RUclips on regular television and they were just thousands and thousands of movie reviewers… There wasn’t… There were Siskel and Ebert and that’s what’s up I’m apart from everyone else… The fact that there was no one else. Don’t denigrate the show by pretending to complemented… If you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about just say you really like the show… You literally act like you’re comparing it to youtube where there are thousands of people doing this format. This format was original at the time. Dont disrespect it by acting like it was one of many.
