A hundred years from now the only movie from this episode of reviews that will be remembered and will still be beloved and viewed regularly will be “The Warriors”. This movie at least captures one’s imagination and is unlike anything seen before or since. Not exactly a retelling of Homers Odyssey but something akin to it with unforgettable characters and outrageous dialogue. Such as; “We’ve got the Moonrunners right next to the Van Courtland Rangers…and nobody is wasting nobody…Can you dig it!”

I think the special effect limitations are what made the artists push the limits of practical effects and made the original movies so great.

Interesting to watch their take on 'Malice' 30yrs later. I quite liked the movie when it came out ,and I disagreed with them then and I disagree with them, now. I always watched Siskel & Ebert as I've always loved movies and I've always loved intelligent conversation about movies. As I recall this is about the time they made the transition to a much larger audience and I didn't like the show as much after that. I was living in Chicago at the time (87-95, best time for Chicago in my opinion) and would watch them on WGN, locally. Then WGN went wide on cable and it took a lot of intimacy away from the show. I think 'Malice' was ahead of Siskel & Ebert's time and while I do not like gratuitous violence in a movie, they're speaking about it like it's 'John Wick' or something like that. Not even close. And the violence was content driven. That they showed part of one of the best dialogues to ever be spoken in movies is amazing to me...the full dialogue by Alec is intense and well acted and as well, they didn't mention George C. Scott or Anne Bancroft...who probably has the best scene in the movie. And, Bill Pullman did a terrific job as the naive husband coming to grips with the reality of the situation.

I got a laserdisc player around the time of this show for a couple hundred bucks. I was already a movie geek (college) but that laserdisc player made it into an obsession that is alive and well today. Just in the last couple of years, with people dumping their physical media, it's become quite a spectacle at very little cost.

Disagree with the most of their choices, especially in comparison with pathetic "message movies", identity politics involved big budgeted "entertainment" and openly propagandistic crap Hollywood makes nowadays. And don't forget penises in every second movie, related to anti toxic masculinity trend or something. Movie art became too "dicky".
