Nice review. Submariber is a little better watch but how much better? Price would suggest 5x better which is just funny. Build quality and movement of Sub is better but only marginally, both watches will work perfectly for a long time and there will be no difference seen with years. Longines is much cheaper to service. Hype and status are another thing, there is no watch that can beat Rolex at that.
Of course you would. You could sell the rolex for £15,000, use the money to buy the hydroconquest again brand new and still have £14,000 in your pocket that you didn't have before.
@@huzidamasta I buy the watches that I enjoy. I'm not burdened with the thought of more money. Get the things you enjoy. Don't try to 'keep up with the Jones'. Good luck!
@@thomasespinosa6709 I get that and I'm the same, but if someone was stupid enough to offer to swap their rolex for your longines and you refused, that's literally like refusing to accept £14,000. I have a Longines Hydroconquest 47 mm watch and it looks fabulously built. I think you are only paying for the name and prestige with Rolex Submariner which costs 5-10 times more.
I'm getting a longines hydroconquest ceramic blue dial with the steel bracelet or the 2021 2 tone rose gold version would this be a good first luxury watch 😎👍
Just bought a Hydroconquest with green rubber strap and green dial and ceramic bezel. It just looks less pretentious for a something in my opinion just as durable and accurate enough. I’ve never been overly impressed with being a few seconds off. Wasn’t concerned with the legendary brand that Rolex people claim. I’d like a Daytona cosmograph if a local dealer comes through. In the meantime, the longines is phenomenal value, looks, and durability.
@@TheDominator74 I assume you have to cut it, correct? I was thinking about going with the rubber as well. Are you glad you went with the rubber band?
I own a few Rolex's but not a sub, I do own hydroconquest, Seamaster, diver 65, yachtmaster II and Tudor BB (2), Pelogos and personally feel the longines holds up well against the others for less... it is the least expensive one of the mentioned watches... the yachtmaster I have isn't a diver but it's similar in design. Longines make amazing watches for the money!!!!! Great video !!!!
As an owner of two HC's 39mm auto and quartz, for the money they win hands down. I do like the Submariner but I could never spend 8k plus for a watch. The Rolex has better build quality for sure but not enough difference to justify the price.
Purely down to cost, I’d have to go for Longine. Only with the ceramic bezel though, the metal version looks a little too tacky. The ceramic raises the bar to a different level and it look superb. Just my opinion though, I guess if I had the money I’d go for the Rolex for resale value alone.
My wife just bought the longines for our anniversary and I loved ; I never had a rolex but my watch looks way better and there are many options to choose
Just bought the black ceramic hydroconquest, I did look at the rolex but for the money and with the ridiculous availabiliwas on the rolex it was a no brainer. I would also highly recommend the Omega 300m with the glass back which is incredible and wears as well on the wrist.
I just bought a Longines Hydroconquest with a rubber strap for $1,149 on Cyber Monday to replace my Seiko SKX007. Maybe sometime in the future I can upgrade again to the submariner.
Grey market? Or did u get that price in a AD? Usually grey market sells at that price all the time. It is a very nice quality piece. No need too have a sub. Enjoy and wear in good health
Now a days ROLEX thinks that they are the best watch when in fact they ARE NOT! Yes they are a very good watch but NOT as good as Patek, JLC, Brequet, PP, VC, AP JLC and other under rated watch. ROLEX is just the most popular, recognizable and advertise watch....For me Rolex is just as good as Longine, Breitling, Longines, Tag H, Omega, Cartier and so many under rated watches out there. Yes, I have a Rolex DateJust but it doesn't mean that they are the best. Just my opinion. Now, no way you can go to any Rolex dealer or boutique, you full in line or make an appointment. WHY WHY WHY...
Personally I love the Longines Hydroconquest. It is no doubt a beautiful watch with a huge amount of value for the money. The greatest downfall of this watch is that it draws too much resemblance to the Rolex Submariner. I wish Longines would switch it up a little more and give the Hydroconquest more of its own personality while still maintaining its stunning good looks. I think it would be a no brainer to own this piece then. Just my humble opinion.
I actually think the Longines designers did a pretty good job at differentiating the HydroConquest line from the SubMariner line. It’s all in the details; subtle but obvious enough. The Longines definitely has its own quirks and character in my opinion. I’m personally a huge fan of that watch.
Being that we’re watch people we notice what others are wearing. I look at what’s on someone’s wrist all the time. If you see someone with a black hydroconquest you’d have to do a double take to see if it’s not a submariner. That’s pretty close. I think the best Hydroconquest models are the ones that you wouldn’t have to look twice to know it’s not a Rolex, you just know it’s a nice watch. The chronograph makes its own statement with the pushers that blend into the crown guard. The layout of the subdials are different enough as to not pay homage to the Rolex Daytona as well. Also, the hydroconquest with the olive green dial, nice color and it doesn’t make it look like a Hulk.
@@truecrimejungle IMO - I completely disagree...the Hydro Conquest is different enough to be it's own watch and quite frankly I doubt 99% of the general public even gives two shits what people are wearing on their wrist when most of them don't even wear anything at all or a smart watch in the off chance they are wearing something. If someone looks at a watch that says Longines on it and thinks it's a fake Rolex, you've lost nothing anyways because they clearly don't know anything about watches - but I'm willing to bet most non-watch enthusiasts just won't know what Longines is, but probably wouldn't think twice about it.
On the X factor I'm not sure I agree. The sub for me wouldn't be something I'd go for. It's been copied n improved by others. Not when I can get the hydroconquest, which I have, for a fraction. If u compare the Longines to a Casio Duro, a similar price percentage, I'd say the gap is huge. But Longines to sub is smaller. I'd feel robbed honestly. The sub is something u buy cos Ur minted n want to let people know Ur minted. Plus it's kinda boring looking.

I have a matte grey chronograph 43mm and I can attest it`s quality. But beware - these are some chunky watches, which demand a 20cm wrist or more :) I also can attest the buildquality, because I have a microscope here and was using it with the Longines - it is manufactured really, really good. No scratches or sharp cuts at the hands, a quite charming sunburst and awesome print. You are going to like it very much. Only downside - it depreciates quite significantly, but it`s a keeper as an all - day watch anyway.
@@FabienTeulieres93 have the 41 green, and yes it is growing on me too very quickly. They sell quite well yet I rarely see them flipped, at least in my country, so that should say something about the quality
