I’ve been eyeing that exact Tag for over a year now. Saving a little longer to buy it! Thanks a lot for the amazing videography; makes me almost feel like I have it in hand
I'm wearing a direct rival to these. The Oris Aquis. I chose between all 3 of these and Oris is my opinion the best looking by far. I would chose the Tag over Longines just because I can't those big numerals
Doesn't the Oris skip the minute hand over a few minutes when setting the crown in either direction? That would drive me nuts. I'm a Longines fanboy myself, more of a master collection chronograph man. I just with I could swim with it.
Love the look of the Aquis but I just can't go for it, especially seeing the specs that Longines is offering for over $500 less. Anti-reflective coating on both sides, not just one side (which makes a massive difference in outdoor visibility), nearly double the power reserve, and a movement that runs a few seconds more accurately than the Aquis from what heard from people who have owned both. Those facts combined with the heritage of Longines, makes it the winner for me. That being said, the Aquis is a monster in its own right, and equally contends in the price range of $1500-$2500 imo, just a matter of preference at the end of the day.
I'm wearing a Longines Conquest . I purchased the watch in Germany in 1999 and though I had had several watches as a teenager and kid, this was the one that actually kicked off my collection. The exact watch has been discontinued but essentially it is the same as the current Conquest Heritage 35mm, without all the writing that appears on the back.
Today I wear the Omega Globemaster. Received this watch 3 weeks ago after a 3 weeks waiting for it but this watch is phenomenal. I used to dislike this watch but it slowly grew on me. Now, I think it is such a great watch, cannot understand why it gets so little exposure among watch oriented channels. As for Longines versus Tag, I think in this case I’d go Tag, even though I dislike the date magnifier. It’s not as intrusive as on the Rolex, so I could live with it on the Tag.
Nice comparison. Honestly I think the younger sportier is the Longines, but it's all personal preference. Own the previous generation AR and love it, wearing it right now. Would love to own a blue Hydroconquest. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Thanks for the vid!
The aqua racer is one of my favourite watches. I have an older, all steel one before ceramics were used and a hydroconquest. The price Tag Heuer is charging is quite ridiculous which has disappointed me as I was hoping to buy a ceramic aqua racer, however there is nothing that can justify the cost difference . You made the right choice.
I'm wearing Longines Hydroconquest 41mm Black dial today, is a great watch! L888.5 movement with 72 hours of power reserve and silicium balance spring, gives a fantastic accuracy of +2 seconds daily.
Are you serious that this model of Longines accuaracy is about 2 sec /24 hours I had before Hydroconquest but was quartz and also was 41mm .This 39 mm looks so so nice Will buy again onli automat and only 39 mm and only blue

Hi Chisholm, great video. But I have to note that the L888 movement is not really in-house. It is a modification of the ETA 2892-A2 but in such a way it's only made for Longines bij ETA. I have the 41mm version of this watch and I absolutely love it. The value for money factor with Longines is in one word: perfect.
Nah, it’s in house. Same corporation, brand exclusive. Not an off-the-shelf movement by any means. What more do you want? This “in house” nonsense gets so asinine.
Was in the same position. Went with the Longines. You should, too. Offers much more value for the money and has a better movement. Plus, it stands out on your wrist better than the Tag.
One must have dreams. I can see the sportyness of the TAG, but for me: The Longines. In black. It has that bold traditional look to it, and over the time I foud out; the Longines must be it: Bold and not overstated.😀😀Nice rewiew.
I have the Blue 300M aquaracer. I tried the Hydroconquest and it was quite uncomfortable. The bracelet, ceramic and bi lume application are fantastic. Also for those saying the movement is better in Longines, you would only be able to get it serviced by Swatch Group.... the Tag you can have anyone service it.
Saying the tag Heuer movement is as good as the Longines because it's more easily serviced doesn't make sense The movement in the tag Heuer is still a basic selitta movement and has a plastic spacer the aquaracer is a beautiful watch but unfortunately like the ETA Oris aquis they use lower tier movements and less well finished movements compared to Longines 😎👍
@@kingadjust6201 True but still, you're only choice is to go back to Longines... and we still don't know the long term durability of these Powermatic 80 hour movements. The selitta and ETA have been around for decades. I like the Longines but those crowns stick out too much.
Wearing the Longines HC in grey. Despite of my 19cm wrist, I went with the 41 Version. Love it. By the way, here in Germany you can find it for 1250 to 1300 EUR. That means two Longines for the price of the TAG. Thanks for the Video:-)
A comparison between Tag Heuer and Longines is always interesting, though the price point of those 2 is simply on other buyer markets. A legend diver vs aquaracer would maybe make more sense to the real buyer. Even though they look so different. As for those 2 models, I believe that the Tag looks and feels way better, though it’s movement needs definitely an update and upgrade. I mean come on Tag Heuer it’s 2022 and you’re asking for 2,5-3 thousand…. The hydro conquest is a more up to money choice, but here is where the dial needs an upgrade and update. I am sure that Longines can do better than it’s current hydro conquest… So , both are a bit … “wait to find something else”
Yeah that is very appalling to me. Tag is really banking on its name selling its diver, because I see no other reason why I would spend nearly $1000 more for it, especially with a lower power reserve and less accurate movement.
I'm wearing an Orient Triton in black and gold. I'm currently saving for the blue gold Hydroconquest though I saw the new Aquaracer GMT in blue and white in person the other day and promptly fell in love.
It's a dodecagon! Another way of firmly cementing one's geeky tenancies when explaining your watch to your friends and acquaintances! Great reviews btw, keep it up.
Wearing a Longines heritage flagship rn. I’m actually liking the tag for this kind of style though. Aquaracer is more appealing vs hydroconquest for me
Nice comparison. The biggest difference for me is the dial. I don’t like the size of the 6,9,12 on the Longines, and the indices are pushed too far to the edge, the middle is a little too naked. The Texture on the Tag and the indices look better proportioned to me. All personal though.
yeah exactly my thoughts. I like longines for the brand and is considering between these 2 but the huge size of the digits just reduces the elegance of the watch!
When it comes to looks, Tag Aquaracer. It’s very modern, that will soon become a classic. But price point, Longines. Considering that the Hydroconquest has actually better features for half the price.
You can open the clasp from the sides rather than sticking your nail straight under it. It's much easier that way in fact. A light pinch and tiny pull can get both clasps removed without any trouble.
Thank you for this comment. I was looking at the Longines and the sales assistant and I both had trouble opening the clasp. I'll go back to the shop and try this!
I am a tag man all the way!! I like the Longines but to flashy. I have the professional 300 in blue and I just bought the new GMT!! I love it!! And I have a black formula 1 as well I love TAG!!!
If your buying new from AD the Longines is the bargain but if you are buying used the Aquaracer is the winner simply because it is not loved by many and can be had at a real bargain. I picked up a WAP2011 in fantastic condition for $700 usd 😊
You are made for the screen Sir. Two watches, so similar, it comes down to individual tastes, but, the price differential is huge. I am an old man ( from Newcastle, no judgements please ), and I slightly prefer the Tag, but would buy the Longines. That said, I’m wearing a Longines Conquest, so probably wouldn’t buy another one. Bugger. I hate being poor.
My brother in law is a Tag fanboy and knows nothing about watches, I wore my Tudor BB around him and he didn’t even know the brand. Longines has the heritage, the design cues and technically superior to the Tag AR. If you want a watch, get the Tag. If you want a timepiece, get the Longines.
I’ve had the Longines and now the aforementioned Tag. The Tag ( bar the movement ) is several notches above the Longines here for quality and workmanship. The bracelet, clasp and overall aesthetics trump the Longines here. Those who bash Tag are just parroting others from various forums, yes they use Sellita movements and they’re not COSC regulated, but these workhorse movements are easy to regulate and cheap to maintain.
I bought the longines based on this video. It is a great watch, and keeps excellent time. I’ve owned it for over a year now and still love it. However, I catch myself still looking at the gmt version or the AR; it’s just so sexy in appearance. I just wish the price was so high for such a basic movement.
Thanks for posting. Wearing a MIDO blue Ocean Star limited edition but with the mido metal bracelet and also own the TAG Quartz blue Formula1. Love both watches except the automatic MIDO is 15 seconds ahead and getting tired of adjusting it daily so I'm looking for a another automatic blue sports watch. Was looking at the 41mm Logines Hydro blue with the gold and the blue rubber bracelet or ... the TAG H but automatic. For more time precision is very important. +- 2 seconds a day would be ideal.
I prefer the Longines to the Tag. The Tag seems overpriced for what it is, in fact the Longines is in Tag quartz territory. I agree though that the clasp on the Longines is poor compared to the Tag. Can you do a review of the grey dial hydroconquest please?
As an owner of both, the TAG is much higher quality.. A lot more fit and finish workmanship goes into the Aquaracer, as it should be at its price point. Longines is able to offer bang for the buck by cutting corners in this area.
Everyone writes about the flaws of the bracelet. I agree, but Longines are good on a rubber strap. A serious disadvantage is the long ears, 41 mm is small to me personally, and 43 from behind the ears are already large... this is a real drawback.
The Longines has better specs and is probably the better watch but I like the look of the Aquaracer more. I would get the 200 date not the 300 though, the cyclops is a non-starter.
Hi Chishom, I bought the black version as it compliment my Submariner. For the price, I do love the Longines performance and value. I agree that the clasp is too tight and I cut my thumb trying to open it when it was new! But in the marine environment, it is better to be sure than to be sorry though.
Currently wearing my IWC Portofino Chrono in green….bought from CH in Edinburgh. I think the best versions of these watches are the Hydroconquest 39mm on a rubber strap and the Aqua Racer 200…just that bit smaller and more wearable
Wears amazing! Love the 7753 wobbler movement too! You reviewed one a while back….wouldn’t have bought it if I hadn’t stumbled upon that review a couple of months ago!
@@pappanatas Wow this is the thing that might have been why I returned it. I bought this as my first automatic watch ever after falling in love with it, and when I finally got it... I was very "whelmed". It was an "okay nice" response from me rather than "wow I'm going to wear the shit out of this". Week later I had to send it back. Something felt missing, especially in outdoor lighting something about the Kamasu felt very odd. Now I know!
Great comparison, I like both, but its hard to see what you're getting with the Tag for over a grand more and less than half the power reserve of the Hydroconquest. I'm wearing my Omega 300m and the Tag has clearly been "inspired" by it as you point out. Enjoying your stuff young man. I'm very attrected to a Longines Conquest with black dial at the moment, need to see one in the metal.
The fit and finish is much better on the Aquaracer. Which is to be expected at that price point. The movement on the Tag is a modified ETA or Selitta chronometer grade. The power reserve is a letdown but the movement is accurate and robust. Look at the side pictures in the video. Look at the lugs and the gap on the Longines compared to the Aquaracer. I also own a new 300m and a P.O., a Sub and Superocean 42. Build quality between these three brands are on par with each other. Tag Heuer build quality depends on what line you are buying into. The Carrera line has a better build quality than the formula one line etc.
Nice comparison! Very tough choice, leaning TAG but price is too high, cyclops is a bummer. Wearing a 41MM Longines Conquest GMT Automatic. Great watch but 14mm thick and no longer made.
Just going to point out that elapsed time ring is reasonably useless on both because they don’t have minute markers. Longines has now come up with cheaper non ceramic version of this watch where they have fixed this problem. It’s around $350 cheaper than the one in the video.
The Longines looks nicer to me. I tried that exact model on and it looked great. Saving up now. The Tag seems a bit over priced? Must admit I've read horror reviews about Tag reliability and after sales support. No one seems to say a bad thing about Longines in this respect....
The acquaracer's bezel has 12 sides. Its called Dodecagonal. I love the Tag, the longines has a better brand equity and a better movement but tag's look and feel offers so much more than its price. Moreover, its just the originality of design where the acquaracer beats most divers in the price range. Im still a bit confused between oris diver 65, oris aquis, doxa sub 600T, the hydroconquest and the acquaracer...
If you want to blow an extra $1,400 get the Tag. Longines packs the most punch for the money. Also, my 41mm Hydroconquest has a red arrow at the tip of the second hand.
I had the Tag with black face, loved the look and feel but the movement froze up after using in a watch winder. I had it repaired but just didn't really trust it after that experience. Plus, the bezel has a mushy feel when you push it down, don't know if this was issue with mine or common. Sold the watch and just put a black HydroConquest on layaway at local Pawn Shop. Technically, think it's a better watch but I must admit, the Aqauracer is sexy.
I have had trouble with my 2014 Aquaracer and had to have it repaired. It has been running fine for the last 5 years but when winding it it does feel off. I think it has to do with the SW200 movement back then. It has a flaw to it. The newer Silleta SW200 has this flaw fixed. I still wear mine in rotation and the rest of the watch is great, in fact the bracelet is more comfortable than my Explorer. It’s also a very sharp looking watch. I also have a Longines, but the Spirit Zulu Time which I love. Never been a fan of the Hydroquest. Do not like the looks and the bracelet is terrible.
The Hydroconquest in most places is now priced at $1700 USD, whereas the Aquaracer is $3500. I’m not sure these watches are even comparable at this point. The standard ETA movement in the Tag really bothers me at this watches price point. It’s a beautiful watch but it’s at least $1k overpriced. Unless you are simply in love with the Tag, the Longines is a superior watch and value.
Although i really like the Longines , best value for money , the TAG is better . That is my opinion , i do own 2 Omegas , i am not watch crazy , i do know something about it , but basically i just look at a watch and say , this is better. So , in movement , idk , in name TAG is just the same as Longines. Coming to the looks , well obvious winner in my eyes ...
tag heur are taking that gap between that 2k and 4k price point to position themselves, because there arent a lot of brands at that gap. they did it by just raising their prices by 1k, but mantaining same quality. this happened last 2-3 years. because not long ago they were +- on par with longines prices. if u are giving 3k for a tag, simply put another k on it and get a tudor or a breitling. aquaracer is not a better watch than the hydroconquest. a better strap doesnt make it better than the HC when everything else is worse.
Tag heuers "Calibre 5" is just a 200$ Eta movement in Elborade Grade (quality 2/4) with a TH branded rotor as the only change. Longines L888 is also a Eta based movement with more improvements. Ps: a lume comparison with the lights turned on an no side by side comparison is useless
That's a design reason. The right side of the watch is visually too busy with de huge crown-guards, it is a way to give a little "air" to the overall aesthetic. In addition the 3 numbers (not 4) is a sort of homage to the Rolex Explorer dial.
The Longines has a decorated ETA movement not an in-house. A much better deal than the Tag which has also an ETA based movement which is quite old (1980s) with only 38 h power reserve.
....or, for less that either of these watches, you could have a Christopher Ward C60#Tide, with a stunning wave-patterned blue ceramic dial, 120-click divers ceramic bezel, a mucn more atrractive and better-fininshed stainless case, a nicer bracelet that is both quick-detachable and quick ajustable, 600 meters of water resistance, and a COSC certified Sellita movement.
Longines all the way. Tag is just overpriced. Longines offer more watch at the price range < 3 K dollars. Plus Longines has more horology prestige from 1832 so it isnolder than rolex and omega. I would say that longines is to the luxury market what steinhart is to the normal market🙂….an honest priced swiss watch for everybody🥰😍 I love my 2022 longines master collection, blue dial, 40 mm, date at 3 o clock, butterfly clasp and L888.2 movement. It runs -3+6 And the best part is that i bought the longines pre-owned so i did not have to deal with the depreciation😁 Hat off to longines🥂 You go lads! Some day longines is going to be the new omega 🇨🇭💪
I tried both and the movement on the Longines is better but the build quality and bracelet of the aquaracer is on another level above the hydro.
the movement is the most important for the watch

I can’t get past having 12, 6, and 9 but missing the 3 on the longines
Wrist check: Tag Formula 1. Thinking of either a Longines Hydro Conquest or a Ball Marine GMT for my next watch.
I bought the longines based on this video. It is a great watch, and keeps excellent time. I’ve owned it for over a year now and still love it. However, I catch myself still looking at the gmt version or the AR; it’s just so sexy in appearance. I just wish the price was so high for such a basic movement.
Longines at half the price for me. If I’m spending nearly 3k Brietling super ocean or black bay with cosc movements than the Tag.
For me it is the Longines
Thanks for posting. Wearing a MIDO blue Ocean Star limited edition but with the mido metal bracelet and also own the TAG Quartz blue Formula1. Love both watches except the automatic MIDO is 15 seconds ahead and getting tired of adjusting it daily so I'm looking for a another automatic blue sports watch. Was looking at the 41mm Logines Hydro blue with the gold and the blue rubber bracelet or ... the TAG H but automatic. For more time precision is very important. +- 2 seconds a day would be ideal.
I like the HC but I love a well made bracelet. Also I must say that I like texture, when it comes to dials. Therefore I bought a used AR
Technically a dodecagon (12 sided polygon) but doesn't matter, good review!
Everyone writes about the flaws of the bracelet. I agree, but Longines are good on a rubber strap. A serious disadvantage is the long ears, 41 mm is small to me personally, and 43 from behind the ears are already large... this is a real drawback.
I owned an Aquaracer and sold it... now I own a hydroconquest and I think the TAG is the better choice
Longines better movement, tag too expensive for what they give, 5 years guarantee vs tag??
The Longines has better specs and is probably the better watch but I like the look of the Aquaracer more. I would get the 200 date not the 300 though, the cyclops is a non-starter.
Big price difference between the two .. best bang for your buck in my opinion is longines
Great choice Adam! I really want to get a Portofino on the wrist. How does it wear??
Wears amazing! Love the 7753 wobbler movement too! You reviewed one a while back….wouldn’t have bought it if I hadn’t stumbled upon that review a couple of months ago!
Currently rocking an Orient Kamasu in green with an aftermarket jubilee bracelet. Great little dive watch for not a lot of money.
Amazing watch for the price, but the lack of AR treatment was so bothersome to me that I ended up returning my Kamasu.
I'd buy the black consquest instantly if it wasn't for the printed indices.. it's the only one printed
@@nicolofurlan2278 Apparently, the most legible and best lume though..
Good review , good assessment of the demographic that might lean towards either watch.
Nice comparison! Very tough choice, leaning TAG but price is too high, cyclops is a bummer. Wearing a 41MM Longines Conquest GMT Automatic. Great watch but 14mm thick and no longer made.
Coincidentally I'm wearing my Aquaracer (night diver) today.
P.S. I purchased the Longines and returned it! For any young gents who happened to be undecided go with the Tag! It’s a level up
Just going to point out that elapsed time ring is reasonably useless on both because they don’t have minute markers. Longines has now come up with cheaper non ceramic version of this watch where they have fixed this problem. It’s around $350 cheaper than the one in the video.
Damn you! you called me old! I like the Longines... *looks down at his Rolex Datejust*
Hello my friend thank you for your explanation i like both of them is Great watches.
The Longines looks nicer to me. I tried that exact model on and it looked great. Saving up now. The Tag seems a bit over priced? Must admit I've read horror reviews about Tag reliability and after sales support. No one seems to say a bad thing about Longines in this respect....
Gshock dw9052 on wrist.
Currently at work watching chisom h. Don’t tell my foreman
The Longines looks so good.
You want history and class Longines it is...you want flash you get TAG....
If you want to blow an extra $1,400 get the Tag. Longines packs the most punch for the money. Also, my 41mm Hydroconquest has a red arrow at the tip of the second hand.
I tried the Longines and was impressed except for the hands which are flat and look cheap so it had to go back 🙁
Totally agree with you. Nobody ever talks about this tho. The Longines has moments where I was like…that looks cheap
I always love my longines 1967 diver watch
Longines although I’d go black dial , with black strap .
My stainless steel 41mm black dial hydro conquest is sweet spot for me and I want the 37 mm spirit which I’m saving
Longines hydroconquest 4 ever
The Hydroconquest in most places is now priced at $1700 USD, whereas the Aquaracer is $3500. I’m not sure these watches are even comparable at this point.
The standard ETA movement in the Tag really bothers me at this watches price point. It’s a beautiful watch but it’s at least $1k overpriced. Unless you are simply in love with the Tag, the Longines is a superior watch and value.
Definitely
Tag has superior design details than longines. I like the Tag more
In this particular contest Tag Heuer Aqua racer is a better watch by all aspects.
12 sides is a dodecagon , hexagonal is 6 sides, octagonal is 8 sides - just saying.
Longines is a much superior watch and perhaps the best value watch under 2k dollars.
Forever Hydro!
Tudor!
The Tag feels a bit cheaper. I was disappointed when I tried it.
At the Moment Omega Seamaster 41mm i black , but in a short time The longlines - i think
Tag Heuer. Easy choice.
Glycine combat sub is one of the thinnest divers on the market.
Longines superior
Tag heuers "Calibre 5" is just a 200$ Eta movement in Elborade Grade (quality 2/4) with a TH branded rotor as the only change. Longines L888 is also a Eta based movement with more improvements.
Ps: a lume comparison with the lights turned on an no side by side comparison is useless
Is it good idea to buy this watch used ? What should i watch out for ?
❤ my Longines!
Today the blue 41mm hydroconquest.
Like the longines but only a buyer if they do a no date version with a 3. It’s too asymmetric
That's a design reason. The right side of the watch is visually too busy with de huge crown-guards, it is a way to give a little "air" to the overall aesthetic. In addition the 3 numbers (not 4) is a sort of homage to the Rolex Explorer dial.
It`s actually dodecagon shape ( 12 sides )
I would say that longines is to the luxury market what steinhart is to the normal market🙂….an honest priced swiss watch for everybody🥰😍
I love my 2022 longines master collection, blue dial, 40 mm, date at 3 o clock, butterfly clasp and L888.2 movement.
It runs -3+6
And the best part is that i bought the longines pre-owned so i did not have to deal with the depreciation😁
Hat off to longines🥂 You go lads! Some day longines is going to be the new omega 🇨🇭💪
