This is the final video of the C6 Z06. It was a lot of fun, and it's in great shape after fixing it up, but it's off to a new owner! As the title says, this car was "free". What I mean by that, is that every single penny I put into it, was returned and then some when I sold it. This includes purchase price, tax/title, insurance fees, parts, tools, travel etc. Every. Single. Penny. Dont believe me? I'll make a whole video about it. You can do this too.
Chemical Guys make a few good products: Carbon Force Ceramic, Workhorse Towels, Wipe Out...yet most of their products are garbage. I have the whole V series, and to have to go from V32 all the way to 36 for medium paint correction...before a final finish product, is counterintuitive. There are 4 products (2 pairs) a person needs after clay barring to do almost everything for paint correction: Meguiars Ultimate Compound with Meguiars Finishing Polish, or 105 ultra cut to 205. Just getting started using their microfiber discs and I like them so far.
I absolutely love paint correction videos and anything having to do with improving the appearance. I bought a groits garage buffer and am working up the nerve to take on my formula. Your results are amazing!
Take your time, and start from least aggressive then work your way up if things arent happening when you work an area. It's not all that daunting. Getting started is tough.
I have always had great results from Adams products. I have used some Mequires but not the two that you used on the Vette, so I might try them on the next car I do. I always like trying new products just to see the differences and ease of applying and taking it off. The Vette looked great and I am sure the new owner thought so as well :)
You know, I've used meguiars stuff before. I think you can see a few of their other bottles on my worldbench in one shot. This 205 was great. If the 105/205 method is as good as its hyped to to be I dont think I'd use anything else. Never used Adams stuff.
I'm about to dive in detailing with m205/105 on my black 2015 mustang gt 😬 , I used the same combo on my red gt years back but I know the black is gonna frustrate me! Browsing around RUclips to catch up on tips and ran across your video 👍
My first full correction was a black 2011 BMW 335d. Wet sanded very lightly, then Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. Used a crappy $40 polisher. The car easily looked better than every car around me wherever I went. It looked ridiculous. I will say the final polish the black color was a shade lighter than the original. So now I’ve got another project BMW “titansilber” color. Got a real polisher and Chemical Guys compounds. This BMW is pretty rough. Worst area is the trunk lid. Six passes with v32 and it looks 80% better and measuring the paint as I go hardly any is getting removed, plenty to spare. But some areas with v32 still going to take several passes. Just trying to find out if maybe Meguiars would be faster.
Car looked very good...I prefer meguiars products all day over chemical guys. I've been detailing as a hobby for a long time and Meguiars stuff has always given me great results. I think chemical guys products are junk in my opinion. 😎😎 keep up the great videos. I was sad to see the Z06 go but I totally get it. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
It was a great decision to sell it financially. Big win there. Its interesting how many people have mentioned the same things about meguiars vs chemical guys.
So the video is 2 years old; however, I watched it. I ended up with terrible haze and extremely sore arms after using C4 & P4. I have no idea what the issue was but I went to Harbor Freight today and bought new DA pads and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. In a matter of minutes my 21 year old black paint was amazing with no swirls, haze, and perfect glass finish. Please take time to research these products. Now, I love my Chemical Guys products but I love Meguiar's polishes.
Well done. Might have to pick up some of that Meguiars stuff. I’ve been hesitant about using a buffer on my CETA just because of the graphics. Any idea what best practice would be around those?
My first thought is to get some of the purple 3m flexible painter's tape and cover the edge of the decals, and maybe a a hair outside of the graphic as well just to be safe. Dont buff up the your tape line and you should be ok. I've taped off edges, lights etc and it works great. I dont think painter's tape would lift a graphic.
I’ve got all the stuff to do paint correction on my trans ams. I can’t wait i just can’t find the time and then you say 20 some hours and i start to procrastinate even more! What did you use to protect the vette after all that correction?
Very informative video. Thank you for detail and honesty. I have a black 1997 TA that I have contemplated doing exactly what you did with your vette. And Chemical guys kit was my likely plan. Compounds aside did u feel buying the kit was worth it? And was that a porter cable brand polisher you used? Thanks again for making the video!!
I got the chemical bros system a few months ago. even their most abrasive polish is too fine to touch the scratches in my paint. I might try meguiars. dallas paint correction recommended griots. I even got good results with turtle wax on a black Audi ages ago.
Interesting. I did find the same thing, that even the most aggressive compound hardly put a dent in the finish without a lot of time spent on an area. I wonder if they are making their compounds safe, and marketing them to "beginners" so they aren't burning through etc.
I only used the 205 from meguiars. Prior to that I used three stages of the chemical guys stuff. What I was left with was a hazy/tick marked surface. The meguiars took care of it in one step.
If you used the M105, then the M205, then Meguires Mirror glaze and finally the ultimate liquid wax your car is going to look waaaaaayyyy better than new. Nothing beats meguires
what are your thoughts on M210 and M110? I don't know much about detailing but bought those few hrs back to use it on my black Tahoe. It was 70$ for 32oz each, but M205 and M105 had a 16oz option instead of 32oz which could have been a bit budget friendly.
@@khizershareef5076 I haven’t used the products you mentioned because I have no need to change the 105 and 205. The results are just absolutely phenomenal. I used this product on black bmw, silver Mercedes custom painted civic and motorcycles. The results are just absolutely impressive. No need to pay the extra cash. But then again to each their own.
not a fan of Chemical Guys over priced and over hyped products and ive lost faith in Meguiar's which has been nothing but trouble for me with Ultimate Compound - now I am stuck with spots where there is a dull haze and no matter what I try I cant remove the haze. I will never buy another Meguiar's product! I'm going back to Turtle Wax products!
Actually, yes lol. I got the car to the point that it was ready to sell. Putting any more money into it would be like throwing it away. Did very well on the car. I'm happy, as is the buyer.
@@Greenlightfilming at the end of the day, that is all that matters! The detailing on the Vette was awesome!! I am going to start looking for someone to do it for my T/A
I have a black 2000 SS. Believe me , I know exactly what you are seeing. In the fluorescent lights in my garage, my paint looks good but almost hazy as you say. Outside in the light, wow!

@@Greenlightfilming thank you. Any suggestions on getting rid of light scratches on the windshield?
@@michaelm3381 I have heard of people buffing glass. Look up AmmoNYC "windshield". I bet it pulls up his video about it. I know I saw him do it.
As a owner of a Black car, I can relate to keeping that paint clean and scratch free. 😎
Good job! 👍
Black is a chore, not a color! How many times do we learn that lesson haha. It looks so good clean though.
That's for sure! But nothing beats black when it's mint
Agreed. It's the best finish out there.

Name of the band in this video and turbo iroc video???
Should be in the video description
I also own a c6z, I love it. Just curious, what you think you will get next?
No solid plan yet. The Fbodies will eat up this summer amongst other things. Want a C6 ZR1 or C7 Z06 next.
Should have put the z06 chrome rims on the Iroc
OEM C6Z wheels don't fit an f-body.
Very nice work man. The after correction came out good. Just wondering if you just used the 205 or did u use a combination of both meguiars bottles
