I had a ‘kitten’ get himself in the same condition, times 10, several years ago, by climbing a Pine tree. Olive oil worked very well. Love your videos!
make sure your car has been washed before this 2 simple steps. 1)alcohol (the one you use on wounds) with a Q Tip. will take the sap off. 2) you then use your favorite spray wax with a micro fiber and gently wipe. :sources 2016 honda civic had a bunch of tree sap brought it to my nearest car wash. they then were gonna charge me 300 for a full detail. I then talked to the manager stated I just wanted the sap off. he told me his little tricks
I have trees over my parking area and my truck looks like this often. I find the best approach is to wait for a day of rain that softens up the crud, then go to self carwash or pressure wash
Using the wrong type of sponge, mitt, or microfiber towel the wrong way also causes scratches. Never use a regular house towel. They scratch cars paint. Always dry your car in straight lines not circles. Always pull the tags off towels - they scratch paint Never put your microfiber towels/cloths, in the dryer in heat only air spin or air dry and don’t use fabric softeners. They break down the fibers. Then you can scratch the paint Remove bird droppings immediately as they eat the clear coat. If you wait too long - you guessed it. You can scratch paint. Non acid wheel n tire cleaner works wonders all over the car. spray on, let sit then hose off. If you use an alcohol spray or dawn dish detergent alway wax after. These are things I’ve learned from various detailers.
The thicker stuff(from oak sweat) comes off(hood and roof) with soap, water and sponge. The tough little specks that stay behind come off with citrus cleaner normally used for adhesives. I love in Texas so the summer sun really cooks that stuff on.
A slightly strong solution of Dawn and warm water, let it soak for 5-10 minutes, reapplying several times. Will really dissolve a lot of grim and oil-based compounds. Just make sure to wax or put a good protectant on it afterwards as it really strips down to the clear coat. Sap/Tar are extra difficult no matter what, and the accept that it will take a little more time than regular dirt, and don't rush it and ruin your paint.
For the sap on the car my uncle has taught me to use a 1/2 cup of gasoline ⛽ mixed with Dawn detergent. It removes the grit effortlessly w/o damage to the car
Pressure washer on older cars will likely fleck the paint off, elbow grease is the best bet. Just did this with a 1999 Silverado. With those really dirty cars, wash/rinse between dirt layers so you're not rubbing the dirt into the paint more then necessary, claybar really gets the sap off after the wash.
Unfortunately I have pine trees right beside my driveway and this year has been especially bad for sap. Probably because I just had my Mustang painted...lol
I have lived in the same place for 2 years and I have always parked in the same place. And it’s not just the pine trees, it’s any of them this time of year. I’ve never seen this much sap on my car. This year is terribly bad. Ugh.

Depends on what type of sap. Example: Sweet gum tree sap. What this guy has is more dirt than sap. Hand gel works for itty bitty sap spots. Nothing works better than 70% alcohol not even steam!! Use spray bottle from dollar store, wait a few seconds and wipe. Keep repeating will not damage paint. When done put wax on but do not wipe off in winter until ready. In summer wax will bake on so do it in the shade and wipe when dry.
You could've use a snow form and a form cannon. You leave snow form for a few minutes then rinse it off. It would've been worth a try. Just suggesting.
A good pressure washer can probably get all of that sap sweat off the car. Then get a snow foam product to wash & wax. Rinse. Dry it off with big microfiber towels and you're good.
I watched your video start to finish and honestly not impressed with your results! My black Malibu was coated with mold, pollen & tree sap! I instead wet it first, brushed on dollar store bleach, rinsed, washed, then used paste compound, washed again then applied Turtle Wax & Dry, (smells like coconut) and for the time being it shines like new! Im surprised no one on RUclips has any answers to having cherry near your driveway stains your car's paint. I have white crv. After washing, wait day or two, I see all kinds of small blot of purplish stains on the car. Should I cut the tree down 😂

Vinegar, dish soap and water combined in a ratio 1 vinegar, 1 dish soap, to 10 parts water. Works great with no effort just rinse off.

You can tell he's not a detailer
no necesitas tantos productos .sólo utiliza Wd40 y te queda bien
What about harden cured pine sap?
Have you thought of using Adobe pad I always use that to clean the bugs off the front of my car
I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. It does a great job.

+Dragon Rider Thanks for the feedback!
A spray bottle with a 15% mixture of rubbing alcohol in water works pretty good, but it can remove your wax if you get too enthusiastic with it.
Love watching your videos. Very informative and entertaining!
20 years ago we used to wash car with detergent powder, cleansing well buy makes paint dull. But now it is so many products on market
Pressure washing is stupid because the pressure will erode the paint. REAL FAST!
How do you c clean the microfiber towel once it's loaded up?

A little 10w30 on a paper towel can get small ?stains? Off
Simple Green?
What about bug and tar remover.
You enjoyed that scratch pad method demonstration haha
Man this is crazy two days in row, on the same project's. Tomorrow is color changing my plastic interior from blue to dark grey.
How do I get the sap off a windshield?
Scrubbing that kind of stuff off you're going to scratch it regardless. Just go ham on it. You're gonna have to polish it after anyway.
Try "No scrub whitewall tire cleaner spray it and forget it" on the test vehicle. Would be interesting to how well it does or does not work....
6:48 he said he used a glass wipe but at that moment you used a detailer

Steam, any degreaser and some glue and tar remover.

My 2014 ford explorer in back of my car has tree sap
Ok, so I'll use either the Dawn dish soap or a can of WD40. I have sap all over the place on my car I just got. It's been sitting for 6-7 years.
Bug & Tar Remover!.....................ps: ALL trees have Sap.
Good video. You showed the " do" and the " don't do".

I have been told that dish detergent contains abrasives that will scratch the paint
Doubtful. People have been using Dawn blue stuff for years. Only thing is it will take the wax off, so make sure you rewax.
What is the main first ingredient in the products that worked best? C'mon, buddy! Think things through.
