Word of warning, buying Mora's can become addictive. Maybe there should be a support group for that. A Dremel tool will easily sharpen the spine of the Companion so you can strike that Ferro rod like a boss. And if there is one thing all us knife bro's need it's more ways to strike Ferro rods. Thanks for the review!
Like somebody on Reddit said: "We couldn't have a support group for knife buying addiction. We would walk in, realize that everyone is carrying something, compare knives, and walk out going 'hmm, now I need to buy that'."
I know a lot of this was intentionally humorous but you've honestly hit some points that I think the knife community, bushcraft community, and survival community need to talk about. Namely the idea that an outdoor, bushcraft, survival knife needs to be indestructible and capable of batoning logs or being bashed through hard materials. RUclips is jam fucking packed with reviews and demos of batonning and truncating logs and hammering knives into coconuts etc. etc. so this whole idea has been perpetuated to a point of lunacy. After 10+ years of heavy knife collecting and heavier knife use for camping, bushcrafting, backpacking, yard work, hiking, canoe tripping and so on, I've never once actually NEEDED to bash my knife through anything. I'll use my knife to split small sticks for my backpacking stove but they're never thicker than MAYBE wrist sized. I've used my knives to split larger pieces of wood because I wanted to but I've never NEEDED to. There was ONE time I NEEDED to split a larger piece of wood because the outside was wet.... all I had was my knife but instead of hulk smashing my knife through the log I took 2 minutes and whittled a wooden wedge and used that to split the log. A knife is a finesse tool, instead of pounding it through a piece of wood and potentially breaking it, use it as a tool to create another tool more specific to the job. I own several large knives and I love using them but again, if I'm entirely honest, they're completely unnecessary. The last 2 backpacking trips I went on I took only my Mora Eldris and was no worse off.
+no name so I beat on stuff for a few reasons. 1. It's funny. 2. It allows me to see if a knifes lock is reasonably strong That said... it's mostly point #1. There's a lot of things in knife videos that bug me... and i think it comes through in my commentary. I'm more of a car camper and occasional backpacker. Most places I camp we use a camp stove with camp fuel. Many places fires are not allowed. I do enjoy starting fires though and being outside- and mostly making videos that make people laugh and occasionally think. I hope people come away from my videos with enough information about ergonomics and cosmetics and functionality... to make an informed purchase decision and enjoy themselves in the 5-18 minutes the videos take.
+Advanced Knife Bro well, as a knife & outdoor guy who has watched 100's of youtube videos, I honestly found your video refreshing. Your realistic attitude was a welcomed break from the all too often romanticized knife discussion as if we are all Lewis & Clark out taming the wilds. Again, I appreciate almost all knives and enjoy using them and even own some big bruisers and am glad I have them but in all honesty, if I had to go spend a month in the woods and could only choose one knife I'd likely take my little 3.3" Bark River Bravo EDC as it really is all I actually NEED in a knife.
Sounds like a good enough knife, for anything you need. And to be honest... I could probably get along with my original Endura 4 folder just fine... and maybe a camp axe. But mostly I don't even need the axe. Anyway thanks for taking the time to comment- and just know I don't take myself too seriously.
+thumb bubbly I was going to review that one by itself a while ago- and planned on a whole intro with a misdirection... but when I was sent the other moras... I figured a comparison was more useful- long story short- I was still able to work a version of it in. Thanks!
My Eldris is to me, surprisingly pocketable. It's probably also enough knife for 99 percent of my daily knife needs. My wife tells me a similar thing about......wait am i still typing?
Dude. Love your reviews and humor/sarcasm. Didn’t see if anyone else commented about this but Mora themselves now state that the sheath of the Eldris can be connected to the butt of the handle to extend it for more handle area. Handle...
I own several knives and i must say the kansbol is the first in my list, it performed wonderfully in every cutting task. For thick logs I use a folding saw, nothing more is needed, and I doubt anyone can cut 20'' with a knife, no matter how big is.
Owning all three I always go back to the Companion for camping/bushcraft. The Kaansbol is a nice design. The Companion is a knife that will never let you down. It’s like a Subaru. Not sexy, but will always get you there.
I love my companion, I'm getting a eldris an a kansbol, also a big knife for Hader wood use as well as a silky folding saw for my bush crafting an camping slash backpacking.
Ahhhhhh I see. Glad I finally found that out. The plastic and rubber bones keep the unicorns cheap. Thanks for the info!! I'm serious when I say people, this channel is the best!! Where else would I find out why those darn unicorns are so damn cheap and comfortable!!
i bought the Mora Eldris about a year ago. i don't usually go got "low end" knives. when i can afford them i buy microtech, benchmade, spyderco etc. i took the chance on this unique design and i was not disappointed. it's a great little knife and the spine is so sharp it works amazingly well fero rods. dont lett he looks fool you. it's a well built blade and i'd buy another without hesitation. p.s. though it wasn't brought up CRKT may be considered a low end knife. it's farthest from the truth. they have some very well made knives. (i know nobody asked.)
I went with a companion in carbon steel. Used a file to make the top 90 degrees and Put a dark patina with apple cider and lemon juice. Awesome knife. The only issue I have is belt only attachment option.
I have the companion 125 it has a 90 degree spine. I have the robust and Eldris if you put the knife in the sheath you get a long handle and I have very big hands
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!! Let a Knife be a knife! Mora's are great. They do knife stuff very well. If you need to split logs get a froe or an axe. The Kansbol is a mix of camp / skinning knife. Real world knifes that work well! Thanks for you well thought out review.
+Matthew Jeffres glad you liked it. Yeah... I baton on this channel for humor... but it's not too useful for me in real life. These are all excellent camp knives for starting fires and food prep. They're cheap and durable.
Do you use your sharpmaker to sharpen the Scandi grind? And instead of holding the knife perpendicular you just move the grind flush against the sharpening rod? Trying to figure out the most efficient way to sharpen my scandi and I don’t trust myself with a stone just yet.
+Beside the Dying Fire so I haven’t sharpened these yet... but I have sharpened my Spyderco puukko- which is a scandi. And it sharpens the s30v pretty easy. It does create a microbevel though. Maybe I’m not a purist? The good thing is the companions are so cheap you can buy a practice one. My sharpmaker is plenty of sharpener for me- but it improved a lot when I got some more abrasive stones for uneven or thicker edge grinds.
Was looking at the Mora Eldris at a store after work. I wanted to read/watch some reviews before before I decided on a purchase. I get home and Bam! There is my favorite knife reviewer with some information Advanced Knife Bro!
I like a Mora, I fell into the ‘gotta have every one they made’ trap. Can’t forget the different colours.😏 I enjoy using my HD Companion most, I have the Garberg and other ‘better’ Moras but I always use my HD. I like the handle.
Is there a functional reason for that "profile grind" on the kansbol? I'm assuming it's there to make it a better slicer but you know what they say about assuming.
+Mt. Baldwin that sounds like a likely reason. It's more of a food prep knife anyway. I used it for chopping vegetables and it worked well. I generally don't chop with the front though- most of my chopping is done with the back half of the blade.
I own eight Mora’s. Was very disappointed with the Garberg. Bush craft black is my favorite. Followed by the one I thought I would hate the most and, ended up loving. The elders. I work construction in Western Missouri and Kansas. And where tool bags. (hammer, impact drill, nails, screws, dit’s, square, pencil, marker, torpedo level, flat bar and shit!) Makes it difficult to access a cold steel pocket knife. (in any pocket) Makes that little neckknife AWesome. Great video! PS. I despise box knives. That’s why I don’t carry one.
The Kansbol has a comfortable handle, I don’t know why they left the rubber off the Garberg handle. The Garberg would’ve been perfect with the Kansbol handle.
I keep Mora Companions in a couple of different Go Bags I set up years ago. Nice knives for ten bucks each. Got them in blaze orange so I can find 'em when I drop 'em.
love moras, though the eldris just seems to small ans expensive for me to bother to get one. the kansbol on the other hand has become one of my all time favorite knives. from LIGHT batoning if needed to whittling to processing small game and fish, it just kicks ass.
I purposely had my middle finger removed on my right hand and replaced with a 4"X 0.5"X 0.25" piece of 1095 HC flat bar stock. And on my left hand I had my middle finger removed and replaced with a 4" X 0.5" inch ferrocerium rod. Sometimes now when I clap my hands together, it looks like the 4th of July🎆🎆😎!
Good knives. The Eldris has been in my edc for a few months now. I like fixed blade knives and the Eldris is not very intimidating. I don't want to scare cow-orkers when I open a box or envelope at work. Sad but true.
The Kansbol is the best knife I ever had. Possibly tied with the Mora 2000. Had Bark Rivers, Fallknivens, esee et cetera but the Kansbol is has better usability, is lighter in the backpack and just with perfect steel that is easy to sharpen and holds an edge very well.
While the purple is alright I'm still very partial to the nice blue ones or maybe the orange morakniv companions (wasn't it magenta according to their marketing?). I always did like them, good cheap knives that you can let other people borrow without worrying about them going baton or tip prying/scraping crazy. This is kinda how I feel about my victorinox folders (except the very first one that I'm a bit sentimental about) and moras. But since I've already abused the hell out of my Moras I don't care so much about those. Over the years I've somehow ended up with 3 companions and a couple of their other knives. I think I forgot/lost a companion once and then just bought a new one only to find it somewhere stupid. And in the other case I left it at someones house and it was easier to order a new one delivered next day than to wait a few days or pick it up (actually cheaper than travel expenses involved to pick it up too). Everything Mora together is still much cheaper than my two benchmades and the spyderco endura added up.
+Extra stuff who knows... I may end up with a third companion at some point. I did that with my endura- it fell down in one of our chairs and I found it over a year later. Now I have 2
i know most knife makers will void the warranty when you snap a blade from batoning since they're not meant for that kind of work, if you have a back pack and you have it loaded with a knife and a bunch of stuff hotdogs a teapot e.t.c. to head out and work the knife and display your fire starting prowess, take a freakin hatchet with you instead of forcing a knife to do what it was never meant to. as for moras they are nice knives for the price, i bought the 3 gone over in this video and tonight got a question from amazon which was better, the kansbol or companion and yeah they'e both good knives for the price the kansbol around the price of a buck 110 and the companion half that the companion sturdy thick single bevel 8th inch thick spine they are good all around utility knives and will last a long time if treated right -no batoning
Even though it is a known fact that we Finns hate Swedes, I love Mora knives (as I do love Finnish Puukko's). I can't understand how it is possible that I do not own a Companion already considering the price.
Well but if your worried about that then put your sheath from the eldris,on the handle with the divits, there it in fact makes a longer handle as I've seen an works quite well for guys with larger hands. Just saying bro
Their Garberg is officially my favorite knife of all time, I use that knife for everything its a beast. The full tang is crazy tough and the handle is darn near bomb proof.....I think you might actually like that one, it comes with a nice leather sheath or their weird plastic dohicky with a bunch of hobbolygook attachments.
+CGM. I wonder what's wrong with a pink or a baby blue knife? Drop a pink knife in the woods and you will find it. Leave it at the campfire and nobody will steal it. ;)
The eldris is just too small for my hands. I prefer having a handle that fits my whole hand. May as well just carry a good folder. As for people who are worried about carrying the 'extra weight', well drop two pounds and carry a big chopper instead.
Buys an Eldris, and doesn’t build a log cabin......what an a-hole...😁 I have a companion and an Eldris, both are excellent knives...............a-hole.....😙
And dont use a dremel, use a file on the spine. Way much better results that way. Never use a shitty tool as a dremel on something that you want to be straight. Well maybe not shitty,it can be used for alot of things. But dont use it on ewerything.
aw who cares if the comment was culturally insensitive? honestly? i don't pay attention to all the political correctness in today's world since it is just a nice way of saying censorship, social justice, if there was such a thing would be punishing those who are racing around slapping everyone in the mouth for speaking their minds, today this is called democracy but its not its a step beyond socialism but not quite marxism. yet. that said, i got the eldress yesterday in the mail, a sunday delivery!!! and so far i love the little thing the only thing i don't like about it is the forced 2 hand draw
My Eldris has never clicked into the sheath, just kinda slides in and holds with some friction (tho not enough for me to feel comfortable) but no positive 'click'. But the grind(s) on the Eldris has definitely made me want the Kansbol. Using the Eldris for shaving curls off a chunk of rock hard fatwood is a religious experience, so I figure the Kansbol will give me even better functionality minus the hand cramps. Also, the Eldris spine is sharp enough to cut you itself, as I learned the hard way.
Oh I got a dremel! I'd like to try out that full tang one.
Like somebody on Reddit said: "We couldn't have a support group for knife buying addiction. We would walk in, realize that everyone is carrying something, compare knives, and walk out going 'hmm, now I need to buy that'."
I love the full tang Mora (Garberg) It's a beast. Great Video Advanced Knife Bro

Great Video. I frequently have the Eldris in my EDC Bag. I like that they give you a real full size handle.
+alittleolder yeah... it ain't too bad and it's lighter than a lot of folders
Yeah and when you're out and about you might appreciate a fixed... at least that was my thought process behin it.
The tip on that Kansbol looks like it would be good for cleaning fish or dressing small game, if you're into that sort of thing.
I love my companion, I'm getting a eldris an a kansbol, also a big knife for Hader wood use as well as a silky folding saw for my bush crafting an camping slash backpacking.

+SteelBearingHand I had hoped it was at least entertaining! Thanks man!
You're videos are hilarious! Definitely inspiring me to start up my own channel.... one of information and just hilarious AF
+Rich Ellis thanks man! Let me know if you do!
I went with a companion in carbon steel. Used a file to make the top 90 degrees and Put a dark patina with apple cider and lemon juice. Awesome knife. The only issue I have is belt only attachment option.
I have and did the exact same thing to my carbon companion. Its only a .5oz heavier than the eldris so you can also wear it as a necker.
Very good quality knifes. I have Mora 711 and Mora 748. I love both of them. 711 very strong knife, but oxidizes rapidly.
+John Smith can't beat them for the money... or you can maybe...
Wipe the knife with alcohol then Dip the knife in vinegar for awhile then dry it off and oil it. Wil fix the rusting issue
I have the companion 125 it has a 90 degree spine. I have the robust and Eldris if you put the knife in the sheath you get a long handle and I have very big hands
I recently bought a Kansbol for my friend and an Eldris for myself. Moras can't do everything, but they do exactly what you expect them to do.

Very good review. Thank you for this.
I liked all the pursed lipped blowing.
Good to know. I will try to include it in most of my videos going forward.
Nice backyard crafting
Was looking at the Mora Eldris at a store after work. I wanted to read/watch some reviews before before I decided on a purchase. I get home and Bam! There is my favorite knife reviewer with some information Advanced Knife Bro!
What did you decide?
Advanced Knife Bro I decided the knife will not meet my needs. I have a Condor basic bushcraft. I will stick with that. Trying to reduce impulse buys.
Epic Knife Bro is more fitting. Really enjoy your banter, thanks again AKB .... yes you can still be Advanced
I would say this is an oldie... but there's older ones! Thanks!

I am glad you had Mora than one to compare.. those noobknifebros would only show one... that's not enough we want Mora!
+Chris Sproles I hope to try out some mora in the future.

Mora made good knife with very affordable price. Thanks for the review bro.
+Old Ben I think I paid $8 for the blue companion
Finally, someone who don’t want to split woods and batoning with thinner knives.
MERICAN guy love your pink knife, even the other Mora's are embarrassed.
The thing with the metric system is, that you generally don't state half MM's that only come to be when calculating from smart inches to CM.
Thanks for the comment. Helps add to the discussion.

Even though it is a known fact that we Finns hate Swedes, I love Mora knives (as I do love Finnish Puukko's). I can't understand how it is possible that I do not own a Companion already considering the price.
+Heikki Pitkänen yeah... somehow I have two!
Did I miss the Gerber Bear Grylls compact fixed blade knife black (31-002946) review video~ btw my favorite edc fixed blade
No Bear Grylls reviews on this channel... so far.
Oh yeah second comment ,and please for the love of Andre keep up the great reviews!
+tommylabors _ Third! Will do!
*Best damn batoning in the business... too bad you didn't roll in an IPA review!*
I shoulda!
hay man... you diden't baton with the eldris... outraged!!!
+maram Ovidiu I knew it would be brought up!
Well but if your worried about that then put your sheath from the eldris,on the handle with the divits, there it in fact makes a longer handle as I've seen an works quite well for guys with larger hands. Just saying bro
Where you buy that box!
Pink Mora knife? I'm sold
good review
+Julia Huang thanks!
Best bat-toning ever around 10:00
Slow down when you strike the ferro rod, and you'll get better sparks.
Love my Companions!
Long time sub. Any plans on reviewing the RAT 7?
Not at this time... but I wouldn’t mind it if I could find a good deal on one
I love mora knives.i just got the heavy duty stanless companion hard to fine blade hq.oray.
please, make CS Recon 1 mini review... please
+z ga I'll put it on the list when I get some more funds... thanks!
Ok, Sir... :) I`ll wait and then after your review, possible I`ll buy...
when the moon in the sky hits your face like a pizza-pie, that's A-Mor--AAAA
Nice!
"The Mora you know, the less you carry." Mors (but not Mors Kochanski; another Mors)
Well done!
Garberg next?
I'll really try and get one... not for a month or two yet- at least.
You need a lot more subs
I wish!
+Airik1111 id like to try one out in the future. I'd like something about lighter than my esee 6
pron to going out and "whacking your wood" lmao
I've companion and its very nice.
Why do you have a pink and baby blue knife?? Asking the important questions here
+CGM good question... the baby blue one was $7 a few years ago on amazon. The pink one was a gag gift by coworkers who know I do knife videos.
Righhhhhhttt..... a gag gift mhmm. Great video the clip where you had 3 knives on your belt like gun holsters was hilarious
+CGM I needed something to do with them!
+CGM. I wonder what's wrong with a pink or a baby blue knife? Drop a pink knife in the woods and you will find it. Leave it at the campfire and nobody will steal it. ;)
my companions, self doubt .... oooooowwww that hit home.
Thank U!
The eldris is just too small for my hands. I prefer having a handle that fits my whole hand. May as well just carry a good folder. As for people who are worried about carrying the 'extra weight', well drop two pounds and carry a big chopper instead.
Everyone needs to carry a chopper!
You talking slow and smooth but moving furiously
If you are not careful you can bend the tip and straighten it with a mutitool? That’s what she said.... and why I’m afraid of her.
Buys an Eldris, and doesn’t build a log cabin......what an a-hole...😁 I have a companion and an Eldris, both are excellent knives...............a-hole.....😙
That don't make any sense unicorns are rare so it should be more expensive. Lol love your videos
+this Canadian guy's opinion you'd think... but very smart people are saying it's cheap
Itsa me! Moraio!!!
Exactly!
This guy is very funny.
Watching you perform literally _any_ action fills me with anxiety.
Lol I just got the pink one .
Great review. "Ytube Artist" absolutely, Hahahaaaaaaaaaa
But why baton...
Because its a joke.
Just the tip.
+thechugdude we've all played that one before!
Got them all mmmmboy 😀💪job done.
I think you are funny, other youtube reviewers are not funny, I like your channel. Thanks for what you do,, (sycophantic enough,??)
+John Waddington good enough for me!
And dont use a dremel, use a file on the spine. Way much better results that way. Never use a shitty tool as a dremel on something that you want to be straight. Well maybe not shitty,it can be used for alot of things. But dont use it on ewerything.
Often go outside and whacking your wood LOL :D
aw who cares if the comment was culturally insensitive? honestly? i don't pay attention to all the political correctness in today's world since it is just a nice way of saying censorship, social justice, if there was such a thing would be punishing those who are racing around slapping everyone in the mouth for speaking their minds, today this is called democracy but its not its a step beyond socialism but not quite marxism. yet. that said, i got the eldress yesterday in the mail, a sunday delivery!!! and so far i love the little thing the only thing i don't like about it is the forced 2 hand draw
Lmao...hour 2!!!
Eh....ok review....I guess...maybe..sort of
