Thanks again Jimmy, Larry, and Ridgeline, this stuff is amazing! I shot out to 300 yards for the first time and noticed that the bullet was dropping and moving to the side with the wind, so now I’m buying a Kestrel and watching an hour long masterclass. An amazing channel that is providing value at every step of the journey into long range shooting!
Bought the 5700 elite and took an in person class at Homestead Training Center, FL last year. Excellent class but your’s will be the equally excellent recorded, replayable version. Thank you for sharing!
If you have all 10 targets active in Target how do you go back to using the left and right buttons to increase or decrease distance for a one off shot etc when your not using the target section ? Do i have to switch off all 10 targets or is there a way of switching WITHOUT adjusting any of your stored target distances ?
I’m getting into 22LR NRL type shooting. If my gun is sighted in at 50 yards but the sight I is at a 5’ drop in elevation. Does that affect my data moving forward or can I enter that data to compensate shooting further downhill or uphill?
Is the bouncing knee as the background to the kestral a test to see if one stay focused during a info dump? I am considering purchashing a 5700 Elite. There seem to be a lot of videos explaing buttons and screens but I, having never used one would like a macro view about what will this tool do for you and what it won't do your you once you learn how to use it. Then on to the screen and buttons. - Just a suggestion.
Is there a way to account for atmospheric conditions/ wind when you get your 100 yard zero? So if you zeroed your rifle in high winds and a low density altitude, you would be able to shoot in different conditions at longer range.
you have to re zero your rifle no matter what when you change conditions like that. As for altitude etc… you will re tune the data to reflect the changed conditions in your kestrel and the drop tables will adjust accordingly. You will still have to retune muzzle velocity as well.
@richardrisner3635 the applied ballistics app allows you to enter atmospheric conditions for your 100 yard zero and take that into account when conditions change. Combine that with a temperature stable powder and tested temperature velocity numbers, and you should be very close if not right on in different conditions. Where I shoot the temperatures can fluctuate nearly 40 degrees throughout the day.
That speeds up the temperature reading. Holding it in your hand can affect the reading from your body temp, or if you had it in a pocket, or sitting in the sun, it can be off. Spinning it around is running ambient air by the sensor to quickly get it to true temp.
@@jimmybrodriguez for real. I was regretting the purchase tbh. This was a big help. Used it this past weekend. I think my favorite is the speed drop and quick wind.
I have a good question.. One thing thats undeniable is technology is advancing and the way of the future,, Also advancing is the technology to spot or track certain things.. Anyone thats been in the military knows a little about what the eyes in the sky are capable of. Even military grade range finders or anything that lazes a target is like strapping a sign to your backside. I-phones are notoriously bad if you are in a hide,,, even when they are off.. Is the Kestrel susceptible to the eyes in the sky given it has Bluetooth/link,, even if the feature is turned off? Or is it constantly pinging to try and link to something that could be bad for your health?
Excellent question, I don't have a definitive answer, but I imagine its not pinging if you turn it off and if it was the bluetooth would have to relatively close unlike internet enabled devices.
Again, one of the very best channels out there.

Applying for college credits after watching this
Haha same

This might be the best video ever on youtube.
Great video, just got my kestrel all setup using this.
Glad it helped
Just what I've been needing 👌👍
🤘🏼
I love Larry as much as he loves miller Lite
Ill have to watch this again when I've got my kestrel in my hand.

So these guys all drive Ridgelines? Thats cool. Its a very practical vehicle.
Great video. Could have zoomed into the kestrel screen a little more

What’s the maximum feet per second that this record?
Would you recommend the new X model or the Hornady 4DOF model? Thanks man!
I prefer the x over the 4dof. I’ve heard guys having weird anomalies with the 4dof and go back to the x
@@jimmybrodriguez Great! Thanks for the feedback.
This is a super cool video… Now I need to get Kestrel (now that I have a better idea of how to use it)
Yup it’s a very powerful tool that is underutilized
Larry knows more about Kestrel than Kestrel.
Facts
Fantastic, now I need a class on my foretrex 701, LOL.
Kestrels are dope. That is all
Haha yep

Question: I see people spin these things in the air using the lanyard. Is there a reason to do that?

Do you typically leave AJ and Spin Drift on or off?
So much… I love it
Twss
Completely unrelated, what is the watch you are wearing?
Tudor BB58
Does anyone else have issues with the kestrel app disconnecting all the time?
Just amazing content!
Did you ever talk about using it with range finders
I will in an upcoming video
@JimsGoonLife thank you, looking to see what range finder to invest in.
@@jimmybrodriguezThanks! 👊
Hell yeah! Now I know how to use my kestrel!! 🤣🤣🤣
Tbh I didn’t even know how to turn it on

Wellp. Now I need a Kestrel.
Yes
Thank you
That was great

En español no hay nada bueno
