  • DESTINATION ELK - Episode 5 - With the misadventure of the morning hunt behind them, Corey and Donnie regroup and find a pocket of elk right at last light.
The next morning, they head back to the same area and Corey's dream Roosevelt elk hunting setup plays out just as he'd always imagined it. The guys find themselves engulfed in a thick blanket of coastal fog, and surrounded by a vocal herd of Roosevelt elk.
With Corey at full draw, and the herd bull standing broadside just 35 yards away, today's action is what the guys came to the Oregon coast to experience!

Corey's elk encounter was the COOLEST EVER!! Two cows sauntering by just looking at you guys as you were playing like statues. The scenery was spectacular. It really looked like a movie scene. The only thing that would have made this completely over the top would have been if that twig was about an inch shorter. Great job Corey and glad all you guys got to experience it in real life! That was truly awesome!

Thank you Corey and Donnie for sharing your hunts with us on RUclips. I’m sure I’m not the only who lives through the hunt with you since I’m not physically able to. I last hunted elk in Montana 8 years ago and was blessed with a nice 5x5. Around that time I contracted several tickborne illnesses while in my home state of Pennsylvania which wrecked me physically. I never imagined at age 39 I’d be unable to hunt elk, but every time you upload another video I get to hunt right with you as if I’m the camera man. I appreciate you being real with us and showing us the good and the bad. It shows your integrity and honesty. I share your frustration with losing an opportunity on a good animal from an arrow deflection. I’ve had 2 instances, one I harvested the animal, the other I did not. Keep up the good work guys!

The series has been incredibly good so far. For those after nothing but kill shots, this sucks. But... its super valuable to see the day to day; the challenges, struggles, and failures; the problems and fuck ups and unpredictable context that is an elk hunt. This is real hunting. Nothing polished, nothing bought, and nothing taken for granted. Thank you.

I learned first hand while in the Army how important it is to take care of your feet. Clean and dry socks plus mull skin go a long way. After being out for a few years I still make sure I take care of my feet while hunting in the woods. Can’t hunt or fill that freezer if your feet are all jacked up. Thanks again for another awesome video.

Sadly I am seeing this 3.5 months after it was posted, but the cinematography is high quality and that landscape is breathtaking and prehistoric looking. I love it. I could only imagine what it would be like to see an elk in there materializing out of the fog like Jurassic Park. So cool. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to spending hours watching the rest of this story.

Hunt Washington I started using Crispis’s this past year. Always wore scarpa’s. Got tired of blisters. Last year I had seven blisters from the Scarpa’s. This year I saved up and got my crispis’s. Did not have a single blister or hot spot. Hiked more and with more weight on my back than last year.
I did also upgrade from Darn Tuff to Gore socks. I think that helped some too.

I have the Crispi Summit boots, most comfortable boot I’ve ever had and they are super light! I don’t expect to get 4 years out of them because of the seams! But so far not any issues. Love them. Great videos guys. Thanks for letting us come along.

Always enjoy some good archery elk hunting videos that are a good representation of what it’s like on the west side of Oregon.

Tough break but better getting a shot than not even seeing elk. Always exciting getting to draw back your bow. Beautiful scenery too!

The highs and lows of elk hunting. Felt like we were right there with you. The footage of the cows coming through was awesome. So quiet....

Great episode. But, I can't get the Brinker incident out of my mind. What sticks out more so than having the right safety equipment is that you guys were in good enough shape to carry him out. The importance of being mountain fit shows it's value beyond packing an elk off the hill. Solid effort!

Finally getting caught up. Loving it so far and episode 4 was they eye opener I thought it would be and will be picking up some stuff for my pack soon. Thanks for sharing these hunts as it helps me get by after the archery elk season has ended. And who ever wins the Crispis, their feet will be thanking them for years to come! Keep it up.

I really enjoy watching the strategies and tactics you use during your hunts. Growing up hunting the Oregon coast and wilamatte valley was fun. However I have found a new love in the gorgeous 10A unit of Idaho and the majestic landscapes that it brings. Keep up the good work guys and know that your videos and advice are very much sought after.

Could not breathe through the whole setup. my heart was pounding out of my chest. the setting definitely complemented the encounter. In the end nothing lost everything gained any time you are that close to elk it's a big win. cant wait to see what tomorrow brings. Thank you all for an awsome end to my work day

After seeing those blisters makes me think about the younger guys. After years of hunting the coast in the wet weather and usually around the swampy areas so I'm usually wet almost to my waist so I have learned to just wear a good pair of hiking tennis shoes and laced really tight love the show
