Today I have learned hunting in Oregon can be a real challenge. Getting high does not always produce positive results when hunting in high places such as Oregon. Bad Joke....Thanks for posting the video. Hunting Elk is challenging and not for the faint of heart. Having a good team is important to a successful hunt. The time you spent in recovery speaks volumes to the integrity of true sportsman.

With a sad heart I sit here watching your videos.... not for lack of admiration, but yet one of happiness.
My father, an AVID elk hunter had a massive stroke last night.
After being by his side all night I finally retreated home to take care of the pets and such.
I found my only solace in sitting down for 20 minutes or so before returning to the hospital.
Funny.... I found myself looking up any video (of yours in particular) to rheminess on my father's love of hunting elk.
Me, being the avid Columbia blacktail "deer magnet", have yet to get an elk.
I think your videos have given me the confidence to try and fulfill my father's dream of a Roosevelt bull.
    Lol, any size will do
Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.
    Keep up what you do.
It really DOES change lives and ways of thinking.
    Thank you
    - Todd VanZon

Tough luck Donny I live in Northwest Oregon and have been hunting with my bow for the last four years and never seen a bull during season. This year my wife killed a bull on opening day after hunting for the first time with a bow. I didn't know rather to be excited or proud. Oregon is rough I didn't find the elk again until the weekend after season. So at least you guys were in the elk everyday........ Next year will be redemption time. I learn a lot from you guys keep up the good work!

I feel for you guys looking for that elk for so long. I made what appeared to be a perfectly placed pass through shot on a nice bull, which video confirmed, only to have a very small amount of blood on my arrow, and no blood trail to follow. I spent 6 hours that morning/afternoon scouring the direction the bull went with nothing to go off of. I returned the following morning and continued the search for another 4 hours again with no result. I grid searched the hillside through thick aspen and chokecherry the afternoon of the second day, and returned to spend another 2 the third morning. Dejected, I went to hunt with some friends for the rest of the week. I returned 4 days later to again search for carrion birds or predators, which surely would've led me to the down'd bull, but nothing. Thanks for showing the persistence you do both in chasing, as well as follow-up after a shot. I had never lost an elk until this year. I waited for the leaves to fall so I could return, and now the mountain is blanketed in snow, so my search will have to resume in the spring. Fingers crossed.

That was more than just a nugget that Shannon just dropped, that was a key to the Roosevelt Elk treasure chest. My heart was broken when I saw Corey miss yesterday and then Donnie twice today. I know how much heart, effort and time that you two, the camera guys and Shannon and Corey put into this hunt. One usually learns more from failures than success, but I view this one as a success in that you two got into elk and have shot opportunities, just weird things happen at that moment that shot goes low, behind or hits a twig, another hunter takes advantage, etc... I vote that you come back for Round 3, in hopes that you can put everything you learned this year and even the year before together and I have faith that when that moment happens again you will connect.

This level of skill, experience and tenacity yet the bull still sees another sunrise. That is hunting. The benefit of a film crew became evident and gave you peace of mind that the arrow only grazed the bull. Still, an effort was put in to ensure the bull was not wounded and bedded or down and lost. You can hold your heads high. Carry on.

The look on Donnie's face when you don't find the bull made me wanna cry. Poor guy

I grew up in Portland as kid and always love the terrain. Thanks for showing us a side of Oregon that I've never seen. And thanks for sharing all the rosie knowledge with us. That last setup was success no matter how you look at it

Impressive that even after a fairly confident confirmation of a non fatal hit you guys worked your tails off to ensure that the bull could not be found down. Thanks for the footage and honesty!

Love the aggression and donnys almost tarpin breathing. The first person shooter game camera action was suspenseful. And with a straight face lol
