- One of my viewers mentioned in my comments that they found malware via MalwareBytes in Tiny11. In this video, we'll be inspecting three versions of NTDEV's Tiny OS Series: Tiny10 1809, Tiny10 21H2, and Tiny11 22H2.

will i lose my apps if i download tiny11?
@@badvibesaol107 bruh, it's a clean install, so you'll loose all your data in your selected disk

Keep up the good work.
i think that guy get an alt version through redirect by google ads..
I mean if NTDev really wanted to plant malware in there he wouldn't have made a guide on how to build a custom Tiny Windows version
Where to find this guide
btw that registry thing seems to just disable winupdate
@@stangz1ma Similar thing is done by WinAeroTweaker. It supposedly stops offering the monthly Malicious Software Tool Removal updates from Microsoft
It could be a ploy to make it seem more believable.
If I wanted to plant malware that's exactly what I'd do to filter smart people
Those 2 registry keys are to disable MSRT (basically something to remove malware).
Some actual malware add this key so Malwarebytes flags it as PUM to give the user *some* form of heads up.
but its not a virus. its a reg key. so..
MSRT only slow down pc
@@mrlk665 thats a lie and you know it
@@cooleyYT i disable windows defender entierly and install another antivirus
@@mrlk665 why? the built in one works perfectly fine
WAUA is Windows Tool to remove Malware. The Registry modification does disable the updates for Windows MRT. So the modification is fine. Like Windows Updates service has been disabled. You can enable both if you like, but it has a purpose why it has been disabled:)
Correct. This is a registry entry that is integrated into the system to prevent offering certain feature sets through WUAU (Windows Update Automatic Update) and is perfectly harmless. My presumption as to why MBAM detects it as potentially hazardous is due to it seeming suspicious in nature.
@@Dracconus but its fine. idk why its suspicious at all
@@cooleyYT Heuristics scanning is likely why it shows up as malicious (or rather, as a Unwanted Program)
A lot of the stuff that antivirus software mark as "malicious" isn't malicious - it just LOOKS malicious based off of what it does, or how it does it. That's why you can't run multiple antivirus systems on the same PC. They'll detect one another ( if they're any decent at what they do) and mark one or the other as suspicious.
@@Dracconus you litterally can run multiple antiviruses though. idk why its such a bad thing
@@cooleyYT I'm not going to bother arguing with someone that thinks they're right about something as basic as heuristics scanning.
It's obvious that you know jack shit about what you choose to discuss, so enjoy your flagrant ignorance, kiddo.
Scanning INSIDE a pre-modified OS is NOT the way to prove it is safe for those depending on this.
Lol people just don't know how low level access works
I mean the way I'd go about this is decompress all the windows files for both Tiny10/11 ISOs and compare all the contents to the OEM and warn on any differences... the Tiny10/11 disks should be perfect subsets of the regular ISOs with the files matching identically if they were made the way he says. With only a few exceptions.
It's not that they've found "malware" it's that they don't know what "malware" is , nor a "false-positive" , nor how Tiny10 and Tiny11 are built ... great and simple video to explain everything tho!
My man here says he's got no money, yet he's running 3 vm's simultaneously 😭
I ran even 4 for school on a Thinkpad W530. It is a 11 year old laptop that cost me €350 incl. upgrade to 32gb RAM and 1 TB SATA SSD. You can find good and cheaper stuff on the (professional/business) secondhand market 😉
I saw the thumbnail & Title, and froze for a second... As I am on Tiny11, but stripped down even more, I used the Tiny11Builder, created my Tiny11 Image with that, then used the Tiny11 Image it gave me as a base for NTLite, to strip even more stuff out. I am seriously considering paying the $45 to get the extra features & control for NTLite, to make an even SMALLER ISO, the one I used is 3.64GB
this is the way
Great video showing everyone if the builds have malware in them, assuring us the custom OSes doesn't have malware in them. It's best if people download the original file from the creators themselves instead of going to some dodgy sites or links that might have the file sandwiched with malware and adware.
I remember scowering a bunch of sites last year trying to find and download a copy of MicroXP. The one's I downloaded all and I mean ALL had trojan virus in them. It's a bummer cause MicroXP was a nice light weight OS for really old computers, I ended up installing Windows 7 Super Nano-Lite on that old pc I had. It works like a charm, I'll try this Tiny10 builds myself hopefully it works on my old HP G60 laptop. Great video Bub, keep up the quality content.
1. To be safer, you would need to do anti-malware scans in a change-rooted environment [loading from an external operating system], like from a usb thumb drive or optical drive [a r/o CD/DVD is even better] , so there's that. Running an anti-virus from a possibly compromised OS is not really a smart idea. Yes, the better anti-virus programs self-check for the integrity of their own files.
2. And do multiple scans from several different vendors.
3. Lastly, unload any positives found to virus total. That way, you can evaluate any of those as true or false positives.
4. It is always good practice to run an anti-malware scan from a different OS type, eg use Linux to disinfect a windows box, and use a Microsoft to disinfect a Linux server or workstation. Cross-platform malware does it exist, but it is relatively rare, but if you have that problem, it will be probably be very obvious.
I wonder where that viewer got that ISO. That's the big question.
I think that WAU means Windows Automatic Updates
There could be other backdoors that stay dormant most of the time ,
you probably would never get a hit on the av .
the best malware delivery method is to get users to download and use it willingly
I honestly think that tiny 10 and 11 are worth it...
If u have a pc that cant run windows 10 or 11 u can download tiny 10/11
But i dont recommend them if ur pc can normally run windows 10
I personally use Windows 10 Ghost Spectre Version.
Which is even more lightweight than Tiny10
That's weird because my ghost specter is 20GB after install (superlite + def)
But tiny11 is under 15GB (can't remember)
Do you remember your ghost specter size?
@@bootchoo96 20GB after install? What did you choose during the ISO burn using Rufus? MBR or GPT ?
As for me, I'm using a GPT mode with ReFS instead of NTFS. Damn NTFS should've been dead now it's outdated but people still unconsciously using it.
As for the disks (storage) my Drive C is ReFS, and then D E F G are ExFAT M.2 SSDs.
Anyway after the installation is done, No app installed yet, and Drivers are complete, the total size was about 5.2GB occupied. And yes I forced turn off Automatic Driver updater which is built-in the Windows Device Manager updater and using a 3rd party app called ioBit Driver Booster.
@@ClayWheeler very strange, I used YUMI, usb key exFAT and NTFS partition on my nvme
Even after removing hibernation, the install size is still 17.9GB
I used the Superlite + def update 9.2 (kept the start menu)
The drive is GPT (I have dual boot)
@@bootchoo96 if you don't disable automatic driver update and leaving it as it is, it will ALWAYS keep copy of old drivers.
Take example of NVidia display Driver back up, it can easily worth 1.2GB
@@ClayWheeler I don't have nvidia, it's a surface laptop 3
But without the automatic drivers, my speakers, wifi and touchscreen doesn't work :(
It doesn't matter how many scans you do I still wouldn't run something that wasn't directly from Microsoft. Those scans scan for KNOWN Trojans, malware, viruses, ect. Someone could write something new, put it in one of these builds and activate it remotely. Don't install commercial OSs not directly from the owners website. Microsoft even makes the tools to roll your own windows for free, use those to make your own tiny 11.
they scan for any strange lines of code that are commonly in trojans and viruses. but to be fair anything you get on the internet could be malware.
Tbh, I've lost trust in these custom windows iso now, once i started using ghost spectre version of windows 10 and i tried to login to my Google account through chrome. But i wouldn't login and was saying something about system isn't verified and it might be risky. But i just thought it was being paranoid and i login through another browser which worked fine. But later that day, that same Google account was logged in, somewhere in Russia and for some reason that guy took over my supercell Id. I logged out of all the devices and immediately changed the password. But still the damage was done. That guy changed the email id in my supercell account from my email to his email. Co-incidence? I think not. So after that i completely lost trust in these custom ISO versions of the original windows. Even if the developers of tiny 10/ tiny 11 have pure intentions to make windows lighter honestly I'd never recommend it to anyone who remotely cares about his/her data.
Been using w11 superlite without defender and still has no issue. It's depends on usage. You should be aware that these modded windows have lower security therefore you shouldn't visit any catchy website or even clicking on ads.
Does anybody have a download link of tiny 10 ?
The problem with these things - is the security software has to spot via heuristics and by other method 'code'. In a bespoke image, the fact that the AV doesn't find anything should not be considered 'clean'. On the flip side, and equally similar, large vendors like Microsoft and others do their own activities that you don't really want, and equally your AV saying everything is fine is equally dubious. Sadly, there are no easy answers..
so you don't trust the truth that the antivirus tells you there's nothing wrong. good to know your very delusional
and to be honest as long as you have a fairly recent PC (from the past half decade or so) these modified images only give you a very slim performance improvement for all of the hassles. I want my PC to game well but I also don't want to be fiddling and fighting against the system when something I want to run just doesn't because the install image stripped something important.
@@arch_.. it works well. mr arch. i think you havent tried it and are trying to slander it. shame on you
@@cooleyYT I used to have a very old PC and it indeed helped a lot, but now that I upgraded ~3yrs ago the custom OSes were just a hindrance, I even started making my own ISOs because some of the components I actually need for work were stripped from Ghost Spectre and Ameliorated builds.
When I finally installed a clean windows 11 education edition and did the same tests as I had done on custom images I got maybe 2 extra FPS in games on the custom build and the "performance" just didn't justify having to reinstall windows all the time, not having reliable updates, and never knowing if what they stripped is something you'll need in the future.
It does work on a 4th gen and it does make it perform better, but if you do the same on 12th gen you'll see it just doesn't make any difference.
@@arch_.. they litterally dont hinder my pc. what are you on about. 4rth gen what? only intel? well sorry i dont use intel. i use amd. so no wonder you dont see a difference. its intel. they make you pay more for actual performance
Man I wish I had a fast storage like that
What kind of madness rules the world today 😔 for $$$ you can buy fast storage.
There are better ways to test the platfom. You have to install it and scan the drive from a 2nd computer. Installing AV on an infected machine compromises the installation.
@enrique amaya I follow RA!! Which is why every time you pray you say "AMEN" as in "AMEN RA" LOL!!
I downloaded tiny11, but it is taking up 75GB of space and the task manager is showing that it is using 100% CPU and 100% of memory, and making my computer run slow. I think my version of tiny11 was a bad copy, possibly loaded with a keylogger, bot, worm, remote code to steal passwords? I think I have to uninstall it.
Try scaning files from tiny11 iso file, after rufusing it (extracting it)

Can you check Spectre Super Lite Windows 11 operating system?
I don’t know if it has malware but it should be obvious that you can hide malware in a system you have complete control over the installation process.
if he installed tiny 11 online like on archive or any other wepside that has the os ready to install they maybe put a virus so maybe thats why he has a virus
I don't think this scan is effective as one can integrate a software and register it as a system software. external scanners would not detect that kind of malwares.

You didn't even tried to search for anything lol
They problably got it from a random file sharing place
It was probably your viewer download for intercepted and he ended up with someone's evil tiny tim windows
Bad video ... Leak of Windows knowlage.
(srr for my english)
You need to go in task scheduler and see what is open with the system, modified OS have that behavior to put something strange to open when windows is starting up.
Them into the firewall rules and see what ports are open, most important comparing with the original windows OS and see how much is changed.
Just running a simples scanning it's not so effetive to tell that a modified windows is clean, because the creator of this custom windows is not so dumb.
There's is a reason why peaple don't just simple download a modified OS and use you your's pcs.
i think nobody knows it or literaly didnt watch chris titus warning about tiny11 nor 10 modified version.
I know this video is a year old but I'm running the newer Tiny10 (Tiny10 21H2) which I've never had an issue with.
I would run 1809 however, it doesn't have edge pre-installed like how 21H2 does, and I am not trying to work command prompt for hours to install it via code 😂

Not every result means malware. Without knowledge and assuming it's malware can destroy your system.
can't open system configuration in tiny 11
That registry entry prevents MRT from being installed through windows updates. You know the old windows malicious software removal tool... who knows if it even does anything anyway? I've never seen it do anything.
Is virus in iso
Try next time to scan the ISO file and then you will find , clearly you have no clue how easy it is to trick a antivirus with a system virus that is classed as "microsoft file"

So many yt channels are suggesting these mods when no thorough security analysis is done. It should be trivial to just make a batch file to make these tweaks to you own iso besides the legality issue of distributing modded isos.
For the record I am not endorsing nor suggesting these mods / custom ISOs. I am simply taking a look at them and showing what they do.

Bub Hub, what DONTOFFERTHROUGHWUAU I suppose meants something about Driver Updates or MSRT Updates. Considering Windows 11/10 offers those on the system, I suppose NTDEV disabled them in order to install instead the specific updates. It's not really a "malware" or "virus", it just thinks as it is since it dosen't like disabling it either.
It's just disabling the malicious software removal tool.... which itself is of dubious utility.
