As retired LEO in large metro area, this is sage advice from an expert. I might add a warning I received from an old veteran street cop when I was a rookie back in the day: Rest assured when you go before a grand jury or trial jury, you won't be judged by 12 fellow officers (ie: your peers.) Same thing with armed citizens, you won't be judged by 12 other 2A advocates.

Very true, especially in theses times since Soros completed his DA insurgency. There’s another piece of advise or statement that I live by everyday. When I wake up and the first thing I do is put my firearm on, I remember that under any circumstance, it’s better to be judged by 12 than carried out by 6.

Sage advice - provided our US Constitution and continuity of government are still intact. But even now, courts are closed because of COVID. DA's are refusing cases on Multiple Accounts of Felony Assault - Family Violence. Frankly, we're in a dangerous transition testing a dysfunctional legal system and a lawless society as BLM/Antifa demonstrated earlier this year. I'd like to think we could all be civil enough to respect our fellow man and our legal process to do as you suggest. But if this continues, our courts and our economy remain closed, and mob riots rule the roosts ................ I'm not worried about 12 jurors. I'm worried about God, Country, and Family; and whatever I need to do, in the preservation of those tenets ............. and that's about it.

As a man that has served on 2 pretty big deal juries for trials that took weeks, I can attest 100% to this. Most jurors are either government employees, thus sympathetic to authority or unemployed doofus’s. The reason is that most gainfully employed people don’t also have employee paid time off for jury service and the stipend offered by the court isn’t enough to make up for the loss. Also people always complain about jury duty instead of looking at it like a civic duty. We can’t complain when the system is messed up and try our best to get out of jury selection at the same time without looking as hypocritical as the left.
When talking with the majority of the people on both juries I found their grasp on the real world to be much different than mine and felt I would be effed either way if I was the defendant.

ride4kix I agree, this would solve a lot of problems. The idea of protesting is to be seen and counted, when protesters are out at night, they are rioting, plain and simple. The threat of protester being shot due to the actions of another, with no repercussions to the shooter in fear of their life, may keep them off the streets at night in the first place.

Referencing Fredericksburg VA this last summer where a woman and her daughter was verbally abandoned by police while trapped and being terrorized as she TRIED to escape a mob of rioters pounding on and jumping on her car; I must agree with your assessment. The persons ON her vehicle should have been fair game. Rioters depend on citizens staying within the law, and doing what police (via a dispatcher or an officer) tell the citizen (victim) to do. In the Fred'burg police response dispatchers verbalized that no officer would be responding to extricate her, nor assist her in any way. The icing on the cake was the mayor later apologizing TO THE RIOTERS (???!) For the viral condemnation of their attack on an innocent person.
At least in Virginia, AG Herring, the criminal justice system, and the state legislative body have sacrificed law adiding citizens on the alter of Marxist critical theory dogma. Yeah, avoid, but be prepared because the riotors are specifically bringing the fight TO law abiding citizens, knowing that socialist AGs, lawyers, judges, and legislators will criminalize the law abiding citizen and celebrate and protect the criminal rioter.

I carry my primary firearm in a two-slot pancake holster with a thumb break. I chose this configuration because it works equally well for both concealed and open carry. If I'm worried about encountering a mob, I will switch to open carry in order to deter them from choosing me as a target. If you're carrying concealed and targeted, simply exposing it is considered brandishing. At that point it's too late and, in most states, you have no legal out that doesn't involve drawing and firing. One way or another, you are almost certainly going to jail that night if the mob targets you while you are concealed carrying.

Bruce Willis’ character is faced with a mob of brainless warrior types, hollers something about wanting to negotiate with the “leader” and ends that threat, then asks if anyone else wants to negotiate leaving the remaining brainless moron “warriors” saying to themselves WTF. There are plenty of wanna be “warriors” right now. They may not be the “leaders” of any “event” but they can kill you, your family, loved ones, friends, etc. all the same. I don’t know where I was going there, but it was funny to me, the scene from the movie I mentioned minimally. Have a beautiful and safe day. Enjoy!

Having past experience yes sir. Its seriously stressful to life property and family getting involved with active use of force. Under color of authority. Civil rights issues alone, personal in nature, too professional adhering too rules of force. 7 years of ongoing dark cloud haunting. I was a prison tower gunner for five years for a very violent institution. Today, I’m old, wore out, beaten down, not healthy as a typical PERS retiree. I’ve been attacked several times, but I seem to go right into clear headed thinking just as I did my 38 years past. I even find myself smiling at parolee turds as they fling themselves against my passenger window. Our governor mandatory catch and release program is awful. As a 10 year Police Reserve I spent countless hours in the homes of these felons. I know the pain caused by sons, daughter’s, and ex-baby daddies.
I clearly realize the 95 too 98 percent of all public services needed clause. The HOODS. Ambulance, fire, police homicide, forensics all tied up in the same areas over and over and over.
I think it was Journey who came up with the song That Big Wheel in the Sky Keeps Turning... I used to play it alot coming home post shift with tears in my eyes.
My health has caused my faculties (eye hand/arm brain coordination) a hindrance. Sight hearing, bearing, directional hearing, balance, how many more can I come up with? In my community, which is a high crime area, I move on the installment plan option along with my Medicare Part B plan. Parking lots, carts galore, mental illness even in places you think are safe, I must ignore, be like a mouse, await someone younger to intercede. Its the shits for sure.
Now, I sit here in my blessed household. Typing this out, feeling insignificant too it all. Just another rubber-necker whom began in the 1970’s believing he could be all that he could be, only too realize this is what turned out him to be.

And could go through airport X-Ray machines. Every magazine had at least one article about 9mm vs .45 "stopping power". I think .40 S&W is still a perfect compromise.
You still give great updated advice 40+ years later. And the legal terrain is much more complicated.

Penn State Police proved years ago that for them the .357 mag was the best whereas the ER doc in Chicago clearly defined the best as the .45 because most gang bangers shot with a .45 stayed dead. They would patch up the 3=5, nine mm holes and after a week in ICU/rehab the bangers went home to get well and reenact their crimes.

It's interesting that Massad Ayoob mentions Reginald Denny. It's precisely because of the savage beating that Reginald Denny endured, that I carry a firearm with me everywhere I go. What happened to Reginald Denny was the "ultimate hate crime." I am not negating any of the historical atrocities that African-Americans have experienced in the U.S., but neither Reginald Denny nor I perpetrated these crimes against humanity, nor do we agree with these injustices. In my family tree, I found 4 ancestral grandfathers who fought for the Union Army during the Civil War to "free the slaves." These were family men, and if they had died, then #1) I might not be alive and #2) Their widows and children would have likely suffered from the effects of "multi-generational poverty", since there was no life insurance (at least not for the common man) back in the 19th century. One of the most extreme examples of ignorance is to look at any one group of people and lump them into one category as chaotic, unruly, uncivilized, or even "privileged." I believe that you should "Never judge another man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins." - Native American proverb

And he also failed to mention that in a protesters/mob group with pickets and guns they all become TARGETS because the picket sign people are there with the gun toting thugs of such and are putting themselves in harms way or they're there as a literal decoy of sorts or accessories to the mob violence which is another way to look at it !!! In other words protesters SHOULD not be with thugs with GUNS/RIOTERS PERIOD !!!! And by that time there is NO law and order when SHTF to that level !!!!!

      WHY?
If the firebomb failed to impact in the interior what makes you make this assumption about fire behavior? Fire Alarms are mandatory. Think of those as offering safety/evacuation. Cocktails are liquid in composition. NOT Blasting penetrating or fragmentation type.
Your dog will become aware or even a family cat, mob action such as here in my community involves hundreds even thousands suddenly showing up in well manicured neighborhoods. Scares shit out of everybody. Elderly especially. Yes arson has is occurring sir. But, believe me, you’ll be awakened when and if such action visits you’re neighborhood soon.

During the last election cycle garages, cars and homes were burned for having a MAGA sign. These victims were not given the option to avoid conflict.

I walked away keeping eye contact and left the scene. He was extremely intoxicated and apparently he thought I was someone else. Glad I just walked away because I don’t want a death on my heart unless no other option is available.
