    I used a shotgun the very first time I had to defend me and my mother from 4 ex-cons who tried to do a home invasion. In retrospect, I’d use an AR instead of a shotgun for multiple threats. Faster follow up shots and more ammo capacity. I would never comply with any magazine limit. In places like L.A. County criminals are literally favored and considered victims of society. I saw a video several years ago where popular calibers and guns were tested inside an empty home. The AR’s .223 penetrated the least, even less than a 9mm.

      I can tell you now, if you want an AR for home defense, get something like the S&W M&P-15. I have one and let me tell you, it’s a flarking blast to shoot and it’s my fun time “Pom Pom” gun. And at $650-$700, if god forbid you have to use it to defend your property, it’s a lot easier to swallow when you have to loose it to the police evidence locker!…,Not to mention easier to replace too. Now, at around the same time as you made that comment, I done gone and got a Daniel Defense MK12….It’s of much higher quality, more range, far easier to shoot and will last an entire lifetime AR…But when it comes to home defense…I’m grabbing my M&P cause…Let’s put it this way, my “Sexy Expensive Bit*h” set me back 2.2K already and I’m not gonna loose that expensive fine piece of machinery to the police. Besides, most home defense happen in less than 30 yards, where the “12’s” 400 yard effective range is basically redundant! Yeah, go for the M&P-15. At $650, it’s a lot easier to convince good ol’ SWMBO too!….Rathet than the 2.2K MK12!

      @@blakeumthun8128 Well this is an old comment and you probably already got your setup but I would avoid Model 1 Sales. They were good when no one else was around but their builds are not the best quality (I'm actually surprised they are still in business). PSA, BCA, or Combat Armory are pretty much the go to options. The latter two are the cheapest because they are manufacturers who make the parts other companies use.
      If you do already have an AR, use a ballistic tip 55grn bullet, such as V-MAX. Reason for that is that they have thinner jackets and faster expansion so they will break apart more readily if it its your dry wall or fence which reduces the issue of collateral. Even if you hit your target, even handgun calibers will often sail straight through the individual and not be stopped unless it hits bone, so "over penetration" while not a huge concern (as shooting at a slight angle up simply by crouching or kneeling mostly eliminates the risk) can be easily be almost completely negated with 5.56 and proper ammo. There is a website called "how I did it" which has a writeup which revealed this capability a decade ago.

    • @bassblaster162
      @bassblaster162 2 года назад +24

      Exactly, we'll said.
      Due to recent incidents, some of us gun folk have been getting wrapped around the axle about no-knock warrants, and how they should be eliminated. But, I'm more concerned with anyone...ANYONE, who doesn't live in my house, being able to gain forced entry...before I can react appropriately. That is totally unacceptable.
      In the most recent no-knock case I've seen, the LEOs had somehow obtained a key, and entered after simply unlocking the front door. No second lock, no deadbolt, not even a slider-chain. Within seconds, the guy who had been allegedly sleeping on the couch was shot dead (yes, he had a gun, but that's beside the point). In the Jayme Closs kidnapping case, the killer got into the family's home very easily, to say the least. In both cases, the home security was sorely lacking.
      To your point, my point is this...let's be honest, from a homeowner's perspective...is there really a difference between a chaotic home invasion, and a no-knock warrant being served at the wrong address?
      Wow, that went waaaay longer than I thought it would...a thousand apologies.

I like to throw out with the use of a doorbell camera and replacing the two 1/2 in screws in my deadbolt flash with 3 in screws act as a deterrent and with layers of deterrents like that leaves less doubt that the people invading really want to get into my home to do harm.
