    If logic end up getting a Google drive style collaborative update where multiple people can make real-time updates and work on different parts, they would have reached some kind of hero-like status!

      @@johnfakester5527 Late to this thread but Pro Tools does this. Projects that multiple people can have open at the same time in different locations. Changes made get sync'd up and then sync'd down. It's a -little- flakey though (it mostly works but has some issues sometimes). I suspect if Apple leveraged iCloud to build automatic shared projects into Logic they'd really nail this. I really wish, especially in these COVID times, that this was a feature.

    Getting stems (and multitracks) from a Pro Tools user is a super simple import. I use Dropbox, and I simply highlight all the tracks, right-click, and select "Open With...". Then select "Open In Logic" and not only does it import them seamlessly, but it puts each one on its own track. Boom. Session ready! Hope that helps someone. Happy New Year, Chris!!!

    There's also the export AFF file function on logic and that works fine for making a timelinewise accurate version of your project that as far as i know can be drop to pro tools and studio one and maybe other daws, i have to say tho it only works for audio files not midi, but every track doesn't necesarily needs to be comped' on a single take if you for instance have lots of audio regions in one track!

    It would be fantastic if Apple would add a collaboration mechanism similar to Presonus Sphere for Studio One. I use both, and in S1 it is very very simple/seemless to collaborate on a project. A few clicks and everything is synchronized. Not quite at the level of simultaneously co-editing a google doc yet, but getting there!

    Sorry for my (maybe stupid) question, but a thing appears unclear to me.
    So if I use iCloud to share the project through link allows the other guy to modify the project and then automatically update even my version remotely? Thanks 🤘🏻

  • @thaddeuscorea
    @thaddeuscorea 3 года назад +8

    I have used several of the collab techniques above. The biggest time waster for me is having to break out stems or individual track exports because my partner does not have all of the plugs that I have. Not so bad to do that once, but then to have the song go back and forth with updated changes, I have to do it over and over. Thoughts?

    • @sergiopauloworships1704
      @sergiopauloworships1704 7 месяцев назад

      Have you found a solution yet?? This is my biggest pain point. We’re all in Logic & a shared iCloud folder. So, all projects are shared. My plug-ins aren’t theirs & vice versa

    • @thaddeuscorea
      @thaddeuscorea 7 месяцев назад

      @@sergiopauloworships1704 Easiest way is make the decisions now, and bounce in place. No plugs necessary after that. There is no easy fix for not having the same plug-ins as your partner. Several companies allow you to install their plugins on a couple computers, but that's alot of trust. yes, I have a couple things that have been working. explanation: All of my templates in Logic use dedicated Auxes for commonly grouped instruments (Drums, Bass, Guitar, etc). Each group of instruments uses their own set of parallel effects that also route to the appropriate Aux. Then, each of those Auxes output to the Final Aux (this is where I put my final comps and limiters), THEN that is output to the Stereo Output (this way I can output my tracks of references and previous mixes directly to stereo output for comparison without hitting any mastering plugins). NOW, I create a track on the arrange page for each of the Group Auxes, and the Final Aux. Why? so that at any point I can select the Aux tracks I want to send to my collab partner and bounce the stems with one click (export tracks as audio files). Hope that helps.

    How should I share a file to another Logic user where I have tracks using non-native plugins that they do not have on their end? I'm imagining they'll be able to play it but not with all effects?

    • @ddw132
      @ddw132 2 года назад

      maybe I've answered my own question... I've "shared" a file to Music (uncompressed), then muted the existing tracks, imported the audio/exported file back in so the other person can record their track listening to that and send back. I can then mute the audio track and unmute the logic tracks. I imagine there may be a better way but will this work?

    I never knew you could open Garage Band projects in Logic. Is it simple to do?

    • @pawee80367
      @pawee80367 3 года назад +1

      super simple. you just open the project through Logic Pro, instead of it automatically opening through GarageBand. The good thing too is that it copies as a Logic project, so the original one stays intact.

Yeah Just Send Stereo Mix Which He Can Import to His DAW and then just send me back the audio file which I can import and line up in Logic! Geez Easy! I use Gmail to send stuff if file is Big it saves to a Drive link automatic works well!

    Logic Pro can be a very stressful tool and there are many things in logic pro that you can't really do alone, such as flex pitch and fading in and out. I hadto get a lot of help from some of my friends with these things every single time. Half of the time you can do these things alone, but sometimes, especially when mastering, you need other people to help, that's when you realize that logic pro x is a team based program, not really a program that you can just sit around and just do it yourself anymore. Don't kid yourself if you are just going to try it out on your own, you will need your friends who know this program to help at some point of using it.
