@@michasokoowski6651 Gotta lay that rug!
Franz: l have four armies
OP: I have 13 Loremasters
Franz: gg
When you remember that 3 Loremaster was enough to win the Great War against Chaos
Being Yvresse gets you 8 more MD and 10% physical resist (they're all Sentinels - free trait at level 15).
30% Physical, +10 ward from teclis, +10% physical from sentinels, +8% ward save, +15% from a guardian, + 8% from diamond.
So can be 81% resistance from any non magical damage BEFORE EQUIPMENT.
Then they can have stone assaults or black terror thing, they also have healing.
@@generalharness8266 My math would be (for phys/ward save together):
30% from resilient
10% from student of Hoeth
10% from Teclis
10% from Sentinel
- This is all the campaign buffs one could get, which is already 60% and quite insane
Then Diamond Guardian Phoenix actually gives +12% except for the wearer who gets 8%
So already 72% map-wide
-
Then one with resistant, so he needs a helm of Khaine for unbreakable (also gives +3% phys res I think, instead he could forego unbreakable and get better armour for 15% instead of 3%) and has missile res + mag res instead of physical but als brings Guardian.
If he has also the Guardian Phoenix, then all but him are at 87% around him and only need something with a small buff
Meanwhile the Guardian would be at 41% and can't take armour anymore, so at best +17% from a rare ward save amulet, for 58%
Which isn't too bad
And if you really want to go overboard, just confederate Imrik and get the "Shooting Star" enchanted item to get him up to 78% as well.
Edit: Just realised the Guardian Phoenix is actually an amulet, so you couldn't give him another WS item.
@@otwk
Lord (Arch Mage) has guardian, +sword of khaine (40% ward) + Folariaths robs (50%) + Guardian Phoenix (20%) + Teclis (10% ward) + Dedicated to Isha (3%)
Did not include guardian as it only effect those around it not it self if you have another Folariaths robs you can have 73% with only that Guardian and Guardian Phoenix +8 effect).
So you can get 120+% with the sword of Khaine or 83% with out but unbreakable or 93% but breakable with armors of Calador (5% physical + 5% ward) or 108% breakable or 98% unbreakable with out sword with two guardian.
@@generalharness8266 If you put the Guardian Phoenix on the lord you can get the Loremasters to the cap more easily, that is true, but I'd keep the lord for mobility and not with the Loremasters.
Also, anything above 90% is wasted as that is where resistances are maxed, and Guardian doesn't stack (nor are there any Lords with Guardian, afaik, certainly not Archmages).
Oh, and Diamond Guardian Phoenix only gives 8% to the one carrying it, the 12% only applies to all other units in the army.
-
And of course, making one Lord really tanky is quite easy with the HE because of Folariath's robe (and on a mage, the attack doesn't matter that much), but I was wondering how to get the full army of Loremasters to 90% without that.
-
Though I guess if one Loremaster is Resilient, instead of resistant, for Guardian but then has less physical resistance, Folariath's robe would work a lot better on him than wasting Shooting Star. Forgot about that earlier.
@@otwk I agree guardian trait does not stack but if you have two heros/lords with it in the same battle they both get the 15% benefit (if close)
There are lords (Archmage) with Guardian its under the trait Protected (not Protective), it gives 20% missile & magic + guardian trait.
Also ifs its a magic lord you are better off keeping them with the lore masters to punish the blobs.
So again its
30 (trait) + 10 (sentinel) + 15 (guardian) + 12 (Diamond on lord) = 67% physical
10 (Teclis) + 8 (student of hoeth skill) = 18% ward.
18+63 = 85%
Only need 5% from armor or amulet. Which is pretty doable.
staunch line of loremasters
the yvresse faction gives each hero something like the dark elf "name" whenever they reach a certain level which helps in these scenarios too
sentinel for example gave 10% physical resistance and 8 melee defence
Sometimes I wish there would be eye tracking, just as a gimmick to know what legend is looking at and what he is missing and stuff :D

Title: Loremaster of hoeth doomstack
No Teclis in the army
1/10
Well, most of Teclis's loremaster buffs apply faction-wide, so its not really that big of an issue.
Max White I imagine it was more that Teclis is THE Loremaster of Hoeth.
Teclis cheap chain lightning would be super good against multiple stacks of infantry as the bound spells only go so far. Also while niche the sword of Teclis would help with the recharge that he was struggling with here due to the luminarks
If I had put Teclis in charge of this army it would have ceased to be a Loremaster doomstack and become a Teclis doomstack, effectively negating the point I made this army to prove: that Loremasters are quite capable of taking on armies without needing the extra killing power of another mage.
@@AytonGang a generic HELF Fire mage lord does a lot more damage than teclis, because they too cast them cheaper than normal. Giving teclis only chain lightning makes him kind of weak in the game imo.
Did anybody else just constantly eye that luminark that was driving around as legend talked about the bug?
Luminark at 0 HP: *'tis but a scratch!*

You'll have to go through a lot of pain before you get to experience the pleasure. Setting this up is tedious and very time consuming. This guy didn't even bother getting a full stack because he probably got tired of it.
@@SirMcAwesome yea, i know but as term goes "no pain no gain" just want to fool around and get some epic battle, that's what all total war for.
@@SirMcAwesome the main reason it's not a full stack is because I didn't start recruiting it until at least turn 150. Setting up the actual battle was pretty tedious however.
@@sablesword6239 is this your save? You're a legend if so.

@Char Aznable One of them is a Lord....
And this is resilient to Pompous Doomstack too.
Legend needs to find a way to abuse The Bug so that CA will fix it.
There was still one Luminarc on the battelfield
@@MrMcm12 Setting aside the fact that it's possible that it left when the rest of the army routed (though it could've been the last thing on the battlefield routing when Legend killed the steam tanks). The bug does exist as Karl Franz's passive was still applied despite being ultra dead, or rather captured at the time. So CA still needs to fix it.
I was making bets in my mind on when he notices the luminark going around in the middle of the screen.
conductor (think thats the name) is also a good choice for Lore masters, gives them arcane conduit. Lore masters also make excellent road blocks for protecting the archers, and they come with some bonus magic.
Day 489 of asking CA to fix the persistent passive beyond death bug.
As he says that, there is an other right on the bottom of his screen
@@quettle watch until the end, he ends up fighting unbreakable Steam tanks and the debuff stayed even when all the luminarks were gone from the battlefield.
To this point I think they don't know how to fix it. If they could, they would've.
@@bitzangubbinzondaleft I'm pretty sure they can fix it by adding a "Disabled/Enabled if" option.
@@chedhead158 that does sound plausible, though programming can have weird issues, like working when you know it shouldn't or it doesn't when you did it perfectly. I say this because a corporation like CA hasn't squished this bug, knowing this for years now. I think that it's alot more difficult then adding a few lines. Granted, I'm really bad at coding.
You've inspired me to revive an old High elf campaign I left unfinished just so I can make a Loremaster doom stack :)
Legend learned something? 11/10 doomstack 👍
Tanking stuff is exactly what I use Loremasters for. But now that I've seen what they can do in a group...oh boy.
It's basically an extended (and a bit anime) D&D party at this point :D
Legend: don't hit a moving target with that
Prince: I will
Salute to that guy with that glorious testing campaign set up.
Loremaster have the unique synergy with HE by providing earth blood for army without Life mage, allowing you to run any other more offensive centered lore you prefer while still able to heal your dragon/lord/hero. Spirit Leech is also pretty good for single unit sniping. They are also quite tanky. If you do not run resilient trait you can also look for ones with innate arcane conduit, this allows the Loremaster to serve as an extra mana battery. I have never played Legendary so I can't comment on that but I like them a lot in Very Hard games.
Loved this, any chance of an Eltharion ME campaign to get all these doomstacks rolling across the map??
This was somehow stupid strong even with the constant winds blocking. Neat.
The actual pile of empire bodies by the end of that battle was epic
I am really enjoying this series!
im really surprised you dont find loremasters that useful in your armies man. i always have one in my infantry-based armies as i feel they really are the best HE unit to lead/support them into a fight. hitting power and durability of a legit lord, but with all the supporting spells of a spellcaster. they're amazing
Loremasters of hoeth with arcane conduit trait are pretty useful. Coupled with an arch mage general you get 2 arcane conduits from the get go.
I actually like Loremasters a lot. I usually go Archmage of light or fire so I want a tank and healing in my army, plus a little extra winds of magic.
Karl Franz: "The enemy only has 13 men, we have 4 armies, and several Luminarks to prevent them from regenerating magic!"
Balthazar Gelt: "And we have ME! THE SUPREME PATRIARCH! This battle is already won!"
Asur Lord and Loremasters: (grins)
i mean stacking them is nice for having some fun in the endgame, but i find them pretty useful in other regards.
trait : disiple buffs your caster lord ( and you dont really need more then 1 per army with the trait)
conductor adds a acrane conduit to this loremaster, pretty nice for armys that deal alot of there dmg by magic
and theree iis one that give +12 MD to your phoenix units (+ some other stuff ) just 3 of those will turn a rank 9 phoenix into a pretty durable unit that doesnt mind to be in long melee
I have found lore masters useful as secondary healers and mana batteries. Their battlefield position as a counter charger/anti flanker is very handy, but I am playing at 80 unit cap because of my toaster.
they are quite badass, they also gain like 30 or 40 or something melee defence from their skilltree as well... making them quite hard to hit , on top of being small targets, and all their melee swings wiht the 2hand swords do aoe damage as well, a stack of loremasters of hoeth wipe out infantry like you wouldnt believe..... and single entities as well, since they can all gang up on them with ease
Great video. Can you get your hands on a glade captain doom stack?
would love to see a new high elves campaign with these spicy bois
Hey legend, there are another Luminas in the fray...I think. Around 13:00~13:50 you should see it in the mix, and in the corner near the magic counter.
There was a Luminark at the bottom of your stack after the other left the battlefield when you complained about the debuff not dropping off.
This video was all about "But leeegeend! There is a luminarc right theeeeeere, looook! :)
Does anyone know why the 7th Loremaster has a different portrait?
We've been telling you for months that the Loremaster stack is amazing. The hero is stupidly durable, has access to a good spell and passive selection, and can get a 20% base ward save (10% from their melee line and 10% from one of Teclis' skills). Combo that with the Resilient trait and an item that gives them another 50% physical resistance and you have a super durable army that is so difficult to stop.
I love how this guy is using the empire as a lab rat, empire armies do remind me of the skaven somewhat
One question mr legend sir... If tooltip in research, or skill talent say "improves lore master of hoeths defence" can i automaticly asume its for both the units and! Heroes?.. Cant realy see how to exclude/include Heroes with serten improvements.... Greetings from Amsterdam
I'd say this one is weaker than the Vampire/Tor Gaval ones just due to lack of mobility. You had to deal with Luminarks using the Lord (which took some finesse) and when that one got separated it took a while to bring him back.
Nice one of these days I'd like to show off my handmaiden Doom stack
I've read "swordmasters of Hoeth doomstack" I was wondering how that could be a thing XD
They can get 18% ward save with no equipment as well as 30(trait)+10(sentinel)+15(guardian)+8(diamond item) physical before equipment.
lizardmen is jealous of that skull pyramid you build there
5:46 is that left-click+drag making the dragon attack faster?? Or am I overthinking it
What I am curious about is the total ward save, physical resist, and magic resist because I think I saw one of these that had 37% Ward save and 59% magic resist (functionally 96% magic resist) and with a minimum 10/20% physical resist getting physical resist to either 50 or 60%. Basically anything is strong if you effectively double or more it's hitpoints.
And they're sentinels. Damn lotta Melee Def on that.
Do multiple gurdian phoniexes resists stack?
I was thinking about this stack, however with the medic trait instead, I've had a loremaster basically hold the line and win a game for me with that trait so 19 of them would be nuts.
At first I thought the balance of power was drunk, but now I see the Loremasters are like Jedi.
they need to fix that bug!
luminarc literally riding on his eyes:D
What about archer spam to counter? Fast missiles?
again T-pose in the start
I guess Malus, transformed, with the aid of the SoK would have some fun there.
Backed up by 19 Masters
Perfection in a single video.
Crazy idea. Take the group to the leeroy Jenkins??
Where was this army when the Westfold fell?
Good one :)
need LoH vs KoTG doomstack to see which would be the better 10/10 doomstack. My bet is on KoTG but then again, needs to see the Lord commanding :D
Sometimes I recruit Loremasters with the trait which gives additional Arcane Conduit because there is never enough WoM.
Though I still believe that they're the least useful of all HE heroes. Like Skaven's chief, but more useful
i never recruit Loremaster of Hoeth too unless it's Fecund. Im going to try this stack too haha
This is one reason why the Asür are tied with The Lizardmen for my favorite Warhammer race.
Haha that rogue luminark! Queue the Benny Hill music.
Yes-Yes, Torturer of hoeth strikes again
I think you missed a Luminark hidden in the trees! :P
Legend finally succumbed to the Raid ads
Can you share this file?
Huh, campaign-wise I think loremasters are great. They're an infantry anchor and with a little investment they have decent spells and are very sturdy. A good unit to leave on the front lines while your more mobile heroes and generals fly around and snipe stuff.
i think u can build this stack with some perfect vigor traits mixed while waiting for resistance trait. as long as the influence farm is going it shouldn't be hard i think.
That got to be the most powerful doomstack. I can't think of any amry comp that can beat it.
I like the LOH, they are an unappreciated unit. I can understand why they aren't as popular as most people would just get a noble for melee or a mage for casting. But, the LOH a pretty good anti-infantry unit with ward save, armor-piercing, and providing magic reserve. Good all around unit actually. Plus, since they made changes to lords and heroes on foot, they are much more viable.
The brilliant thing about this doomstack is that you can casually recruit it on the side as their capacity is increased by the same building that is giving you entrepreneur mages. I will definitely consider this in my next HE campaign.
I think a stack of loremasters lead by Teclis would be nice. Now go start his campaign :)
Luminac is under your cursor while you are talking about that effect still being active a bug!
This battle was never going to be difficult, but one thing Legend didn't do was spam Foe-Seeker. It gives vigour, and, due to how gaining vigour works, doesn't reduce vigor when it wears off (unlike the speed buff, which goes away when the duration is over, ofc). This means it's basically free vigour, which does help out in these massive melee grinds when everyone's Exhausted. Plus, as everyone has it and it's on the same cooldown, you can just select them all and click the button - unlike the micro-heavy individual abilities like Helm of Discord.
When you and the squad go out to crush the empire of man.
Is this going to be a new series?

Can Teclis do this as well?
A fire wiz playing with the gert clumps arround the swordmasters would have a hellova lota fun, if it could get in close enough.
You don't need all them of them being resilient while farming traits, you can get vigorous too which gives perfect vigour and 15% ward save (better than unbrekable and 20% phisical resistance).
Chaos sorcerers with infernal dominance is also really good
I like to have a Loremaster in every my army except the ones led by Alariel and Teclis, They are pretty tanky and can heal.
Out of curiosity, why resilient (20% physical resist) instead of vigorous (15% ward save & perfect vigour). Just that most the time they are going to be in the thick of it and therefore mostly physical melee damage so that 5% trumps it?
Probably the unbreakable part of trait XD
that sigh at 17:19 i felt that
