I think it's also important to know that picking a size depends on the rider's weight. Some people think you should just pick a board with a length between your chin and your nose. I also think the weight of a snowboard is something that should be considered when comparing boards. I personally hate riding super heavy boards.

I have a Party Wave, which I love in powder, but the pow 3bt is to washy for me when I try to nose butter. Never ridden any other variation of 3bt. How much less aggressive is the uplift on the other variants? I'd be hesitant to buy another Bataleon because I just can't butter the one I have on firm snow at all.
If I'm understanding your frustration accurately, it may be what I experienced as well. I've personally realized that you need to flat-base it more than you would with a traditional board without 3bt. When we usually go sideways down the slope we need to lean upslope and lift that edge up to control it and not catch. However with 3bt I realized that I need to just keep it flat during a butter or else I washout immediately.
I have the PW as well. It does have narrower central base since their "pow 3bt". There are other boards in their line with a wider central base which will give you a closer experience to our more traditional boards. The central base progressively get wider as you move from directional freeride to twin freestyle boards in their line.
The boards butter really well but there is a knack to it. Take a while to get used to it. The 3bt can be weird for a long time, but I don't ride anything else now.

Grat video. The animations are simple and well done. For the curious people, extruded=the base is done by melting plastic beads by heat, while sintered=the same but by pressure. I finally got a Santoku. Can't wait to ride it. I only need the snow to start falling in my local pyrenean mountain :( Next week they say...
