    Most helpful video for beginners 👍
    I started with a camber and pretty stiff snowboard and, It Was Tough.
    If I were to start today I would buy the Bataleon Blow, and that is because I love how the 3BT feels while going from edge to edge.

    Freaking great video! I was looking for board and bindings. After this video I got YES Basic + NOW IPO today.
    When telling the nice lady what I'm after I've gotten a glance from her colleague and heard "This is going to be a sweet setup. Did someone advice you on getting it or did you come up with it yourself in the internet."
    Then I thought of Board Archive. Thank you once again!

    Wait…. You’re telling me that buying a Expert level board doesn’t make me a expert 😮 lol I’m definitely guilty of that. I’m just future proofing

    Good point on inexpensive beginner board. Spending a lot on a first board will make you hold on to it longer than needed (after you outgrow it). Especially when you don’t know what you like in a board. Buy an inexpensive board, could still be new and not used if wanted, and then get rid of it for something else after you get the hang of snowboarding.

    Very helpful, thank you! “Serve you really well for that first season and those first few days” - are you saying we’d likely out grow these boards very quickly? I’m curious at what point someone is not considered a beginner anymore.

    This was so helpful! I noticed you dropped the link for the 2025 and 2023 Capita boards. I LOVE the look of the 2024 green board, is that one also OK for beginners?

    Hey TJ I’ve got a question for ya✌🏻
    Should I get the Spring Break Resort Twin or Rome Agent?
    I'm looking for an all mountain freestyle board and am between purchasing 1 of these 2. I've heard awesome things about the spring break line and know it'll be an awesome board, but is it worth paying $200 over a 2023 agent(currently on sale for $350 direct from Rome?
    I like to ride the whole resort and do a ton of side hits, the park is fun but I'd rather do jumps than rails for the most part. I don't have a pow board as I'm on the icecoast so this is gonna have to serve me for pow as well. However I'II definitely make atleast 15-21 days out west (epic resorts) on 5-7 trips, plus as much local riding as my schedule will allow.
    Any insight is greatly appreciated!
    I’m also thinking about Rome DOD bindings for either board.

    Grate vid TJ. so I've only been snowboarding 2 times (one week in 2022 and one in 2023) I'm not really a fan of overly soft snowboards or rocker dominant and I was wondering if there is a board with a soft "twist flex" but a stiffer front to back flex?
    Here is a list of the boards I'm considering: NEVERSUMMER (Proto Slinger), YES (Jackpot), BATALEON (Evil Twin+).
    Am I totally in the woods with this selection? my future dream riding is doing some free riding, pow and tree riding.. but for now I'm still on the groomers.
    Again.. LOVE your videos and thanks for all your content, it means a lot!

    Awesome video. How does this sound? Yes Basic + Union Ultra + Double Boa boots (Ruler)? Thoughts? Any recommendations / changes on boots or binding? For complete beginner (I rented twice, and now I feel like I just want to buy my own and learn on it than rent). Thanks!

    • @BoardArchive
      @BoardArchive  Год назад +1

      that sounds like an amazing first setup! that will last you a long time and feel so much better than rental gear. try the boots on first if you can, just because everyones feet are different and all the various brands fit differently. Going for a softer double boa boot is a good call imo though

    You mentioned burton custom is no go for a beginner but how about the flying v? Isn’t that a little forgiving due to its hybrid form

    • @BoardArchive
      @BoardArchive  4 месяца назад +1

      The custom FV is definitely more forgiving with that profile, but its still pretty stiff for a beginner choice. If you're a beginner and really want a custom, the FV will be more fun and something you can grow into. There are better options out there though

    I have the same type of equipment and budget since my beginnings 😂, I had the opportunity to test stiffer but it is not for me, I am an intermediate/advanced rider, but what I am looking for and what I like is a surfy feeling. I don't like material that's too stiff. I have 4/10 equipment in flex (nidecker play, Deeluxe DNA 😍 and Burton freestyle which I love I have had several pairs) here in Europe if I wait for the right moment I can make a pack around 500€ which will last several years. I go everywhere with this set

    This will be my first time snowboarding and taking my first lesson in December and hearing some say its best to learn on camber instead so you dont build bad habits. Thoughts? Looks like the Bataleon Blow was on your list and is camber, would you say thats the best beginner camber board?

    • @BoardArchive
      @BoardArchive  Год назад +2

      That's a fair point. I do think rocker dominant boards are fine to learn on though, then switch to more camber after your 1st or 2nd season depending how much you ride. For someone who only rides 5-10 days a year, you're going to have more fun with reverse camber for a while. The Pathfinder, Ripcord, and Mechanic are flat to rocker. The only full rocker board I mentioned here is the Arbor Formula. If you would prefer to learn on camber, I still think it's a good idea to look at hybrid boards, something like the YES Basic. That is camber dominant but has rocker outside your feet to offer a forgiving touch and make learning to turn easier. Even very advanced boards like the Salomon Huck Knife pro have a tiny bit of rocker blend towards the contact points to make it less hooky. It's not super common to find true full camber out there anymore, but there are some out there and they do offer the most precise feel.

      @@BoardArchive Thanks man! What is a good binding to pair? For ref im 5’9” 190lbs

    • @bri_guy508
      @bri_guy508 Год назад

      Any binding with midrange flex. You dont want the heelback to be too stiff or to soft. I learned to ride back in the late 90s when everything was camber. Rode at least half a dozen to a dozen times leading up to 2009. Had a life altering experience but picked snowboarding back up around 2017. The tech had come so far by then! The Union STI is an awesome binding for the price in my opinion. They won't break the bank and you're still getting a quality binding.

      Yeah that’s horse shit. Learn on a rocker bro, then switch later. I learned on a super stiff deep camber board… and I learned the hard way. It was brutal. I switched to a rocker later and wished I’d had it from the beginning.

    • @etiennemattei2573

      I started with a Bataleon board, with a lot of flex, and 3BT: you can have the best of both world then, a camber board, with a lot of flex and still catch free, forgiving, and easy to initiate turn.

    I think a board that pushes you to ride rather than thinking. Something that gives you a bigger sense of control so linking those first turns and something that isnt too heavy underfoot…
