It was sad she looked like a "plump tick" when the shelter first got her. So glad Faith was able to lose so much weight and was able to walk through a doggie door. Faith has come a long way.

I think it’s kind of dangerous to say most. There are many many reasons why people gain weight. For me it was a mix of medications and thyroid issues. Am I morbidly obese? No. Am I overweight? Yes. But it wasn’t for a lack of love.

@@tzviru Ok, that's your YT opinion as I have mine. I owned two purebred dachshunds, have you? You probably enjoy seeing a morbidly obese helpless animal. This loving dachshund breed struggles as it is with short legs and a long body. Furthermore, I don't have to practice vengeance that's God's department and actions without love WILL BE handled according to God's laws. Stuffing a dachshund with food to a point it can barely walk for exercise or have a good quality of life is a sin...it's also animal cruelty and irresponsible.
You have too much darkness in your soul. When you dont know anything about the owner or why the dog was left in a stray then dont comment such negative things.
The owner could have had Alzeimer and maybe forgot he/she fed the dog and kept feeding it. After the owner could have died or been hospitalised they definitely cant take dogs to their graves or hospitals ! This is ONE of the many possible things that might have happened.

It is heartbreaking that it only takes one person to destroy a dog this way, but it takes a whole team to save them. Bless everyone who worked with her!

In USA the stray dogs are usually very well fed so some even become obese. Meanwhile in most of Asia and Africa the stray dogs are usually starving and malnourished and have injuries/infections. 😢 I saw so many hungry malnourished stray dogs when I visited the Philippines 🐶😭

@Earl The Pearl Both are equally bad. The overweight dogs can get arthritis, heart attacks, they have difficulty breathing, they can even get tumors, skin diseases, anesthesia risk, ACL and more. Both are bad, just figure out the amount of food in portions is good for your pet and give that only no more no less.
I have a pet and we feed him two times a day in portions. He is now 11 years old, but full of energy, nor overweight nor skinny and most importantly in great health.

She's a good doggy no matter what, but domestic dogs don't have the ability to find or catch their own food, meaning they cannot choose what or when to eat. It is abuse for someone to feed their dog to the point where they can almost no longer walk.
Yeah she’s a sweet girl. She definitely had more fun when she was able to run and play though.

Her being so overweight is even worse when you realize that because she’s half dachshund she is far more likely to get permanent back issues especially from weight. We have a mini doxie who has to stay at 10/11 lbs so that he won’t worsen his back (he’s old and insists on jumping despite our best efforts to get him not to, so it’s already bad)

She’s 12 years old and I want her to have the most comfortable and happy weight so she can stick with me for as long as possible. Thank goodness she’s only about a pound over weight . But it’s still tough on her joints to be overweight at all .

I'm a proud owner of a chiweenie . . . they have the cutest little personalities. So happy to see the progress made Faith . Her foster family and the rehab team did wonders for this adorable litlle girl.
She’s a beautiful dog. How sad she was allowed to get into that state.
So we took in my grandpa's dog Hank because he needs to go to a retirement home, Hank is obese due to my grandpa overfeeding him because of memory loss problems and just being too old to take him out anywhere. His back legs are also pretty ruffed up and are not in the best shape but he is slowly getting better and we finally got him to the vet. We have our own dog and they both love playing together so he is getting plenty of exercise and toys. Once he starts getting better I will edit the comment :) Right now he is about 123 pounds ( he is a black lab mix ) A healthy weight for him should be around 90 so he has a bit too lose

They are actually often hungry in the US as well. Most begin to lose weight rapidly once a stray. As sad as it is, she likely got this way under the "care" of her owner who was just feeding her pizza, burgers, etc. She got too fat to walk so her owner dumped her somewhere. Considering the fact that she couldn't walk or run to hide anywhere, she was likely found very quickly by a nice soul who brought her to the shelter. That is usually how these super obese pets come into the shelter: they are either dumped because it is too much for their excuse of an owner or directly surrendered by their owner.
China , Thailand,etc. eat them. That must be spoken against and changed. Koreans torture and then eat them thinking the torture
will make the meat taste better. Strange how BARBARIC AND CRUEL are humans to other creatures. Humans can soar to
unbelievable heights yet sink to Unbearable lows having no respect for other species ....or their own, for that matter.

We're worried about our Shih Chi who is getting chunky. He's very active, but he's chubby for his size. Although he only eats twice daily with some treats in between we think he's been eating the cat food as well.
