As a veterinary professional, this is horrifying. I don’t understand how it gets to this point. I don’t understand how people can have an animal and think this is remotely “okay”. The immense pain and discomfort he must have been in is just so heartbreaking to think about. I am beyond relieved that he is in a safe home with awesome new owners. Thank you for what you’ve done for him. Keep up the great work!
Sadly, it does happen. Maybe 15 years ago, I was driving with my boyfriend a couple miles outside our city limits in a pretty rural area. We suddenly see a dog jump out of some trees and start running down the road. We slow down and get closer, and bf says "That looks like [his friend's] dog." Bf got out of the car and walked over to the dog. Bf just looked over at me, bent down to grab the collar, and walked back to the car with the dog. He opens the door and just says "Yeah, this is Max. That's his collar. [Friend] took the tags off but it's definitely him." Unfortunately, before we could get the dog in the car, he bolted straight into some dense woods. There was no way we could go after him. So we stood on the side of the road yelling his name, hoping he'd come back. No luck. It was now nighttime and we couldn't see anything. So we called Animal Control and left a message with the SPCA and told them that a boxer/pit mix was running around the area, that he's friendly but he may give chase. To this day I have no idea what happened to him, if he was ever found. I like to think he was caught and taken to the shelter, and was later adopted by a young family who would love his energy. I remember feeling sick to my stomach. I kept asking "Why would he do that, just dump a dog in the country? Why wouldn't he take it to a shelter?" Bf just said "He's been talking about getting rid of the dog for a while, I just didn't think he'd do this. He lives too far away for the dog to get here on his own so quickly." To be fair, the dog was a lot to handle. He was 2yo, super hyper and jumpy, and didn't respond to commands. It wasn't the dog that guy needed. But if he just took it to a shelter (they're all no-kill in the area), that dog would have had a new home in no time.

Exercise and a proper diet are two keys to good health, for animals and humans alike. People are afraid to discuss obesity nowadays, because it gets labeled as "shaming." But it's not about looks. It causes disease, disability, and premature death. Lifestyle changes gave Wolfgang his life back!

Dogs seem to come good in major ways when they are finally able to run on grass. They just become so well.
Bravo! Well done! Growing up I had 2 Beagles. I lived in central Massachusetts. My town surrounded the Wachusett Reservoir. A very wooded area. My Beagles might be a quarter mile away, but I always knew where they were, because I could hear them howling. I would walk 5 miles on the Reservoir trails & they would walk & run 5X's that distance. They followed every scent in the woods. Beagles are relentless hunters. Like my Huskies today, people love to hear them howl. Most people!?
I know what happened. He lived with an old person who had trouble feeding him so just dumped the whole bag on the floor. Then when the old person died, some heartless SOB, probably a relative just sent him packing. This was the exact scenario with a cat I took from the pound.
My first thought too. An elderly owner who didn't walk him ever and took a beagle's constant desire to snack as a sign that the pooch was hungry. But even if done with good intentions, as the shelter worker said, it ended up creating an abusive situation. I hope he is able to have a long healthy life now.
Through all the abuse he encountered, he still was a happy dog and still has faith in humans. He so strong in spirit. I'm glad the abuse didn't take away his happiness. ❤❤❤
They did a wonderful job at helping him lose weight. When they showed him running I got very moved every dog should be able to run and he wasn't able to for a very long time. Sweet pooch hope he has a healthy a loving life😘
This reminds me of Dennis the Dieting Dachshund that also lost 70%+ of his body weight and went from 56lb down to 12lb. It’s ok to give your dogs a table scrap now and then. Feeding them the same portions of the same food you’re eating is abuse.

Why did you refer to him as "it" so many times? I'm confused
@@fabianatrindade56 not that’s serious
@@fabianatrindade56 it's very typical to refer to anything not a human as "it"

Aww, im glad Wolfgang was able to achieve that goal, and im happy that he has such great owners now who care for him
Bless his heart, he looks like the most lovable swollen tick, sausage, bun of a Beagle I have ever seen 😂❤️
Lol... really. He really looks beautiful 😍😍
I would have named him Kolache 😂
Overfeeding like that is abuse!

This is so heartwarming. I love seeing the consistent genuine support, the greens, and the progress. It’s beautiful the dogs progress.
I literally cried while watching Wolfgang struggle with his weight. I don't know what's the background story till he become that big, but for sure it's an abuse acted from previous owner.
Or probably a person with memory issue ?
@@ginamillondaga9598 how would it be a person with a memory issue? Even if you have a bad memory you can look at a 90 pound beagle and say "that's not good"
@@ginamillondaga9598 even if the previous owner had a memory issue, the fact that they were looking at a 90lb beagle one day should've tipped them off that SOMETHING was wrong 🤦🏿♀️
@@HaruDoneYet i mean if it’s an older person with memory problems or dementia basically they’ll forget whether they fed the dog or not, so just to be safe they feed the dog anyways. even when they see the dog is fat they’re not gonna just starve it.
@@HaruDoneYet but it sounds more like the owner just didn’t care. they didn’t know how to care for the dog, overfed it, realized how big he got them dumped him on the streets bc they didn’t want him. that’s a lot more likely tbh..
WHO DID THIS TO THIS POOR SOUL ! THANK YOU FOR GIVING HIM A CHANCE AT A GREAT LIFE

I’ve never seen anything like this. They must’ve just kept him in a cage and fed him. The people who do this kind of work are truly angels on Earth. Thank you from Ohio 🙏
Wo wo
Overfeeding and feeding carb foods which are not supposed to feed to dogs are the reasons
You can tell it is over affection and love like our Grandmas do

Exercise and a proper diet are two keys to good health, for animals and humans alike. People are afraid to discuss obesity nowadays, because it gets labeled as "shaming." But it's not about looks. It causes disease, disability, and premature death. Lifestyle changes gave Wolfgang his life back!

He’s so adorable with his toys!!!😍 this story inspired me to be more appreciative of what I have and be healthy, thank you to all of you🥰
At least he seems to have been treated with kindness, seeing how happy and social he is.
Im happy he got into better routine before it was too late.
Such a shame he had to go through all that, but I'm glad he's doing better now.
He's so love driven. Just a bit of encouragement and one of his toysies and he's prepared to give you his all. What a little hero... a little star. Beautiful Wolfgang deserves the world to run in. Dogs seem to come good in major ways when they are finally able to run on grass. They just become so well.

I know a lot of people like this. Me included. This has inspired me to finally get off my behind and do something about my weight. Amazing
Bravo!
That is exactly what I thought too. I'm glad he is happy and healthy now! :)
So scary to see how people would behave when they believed they have a way out.

Way to go, Wolfgang!! Thanks so much for your patience and love in giving this happy guy a great family.

I love you for doing this for this dog. You have enriched his Quality of Life by 2,000%
They did a wonderful job at helping him lose weight. When they showed him running I got very moved every dog should be able to run and he wasn't able to for a very long time. Sweet pooch hope he has a healthy a loving life😘
What an absolute cutie! Glad he’s happy and healthy! Thank you for giving this angel the opportunity to change his life ❤
All dogs deserve love, I am so happy he was able to be helped ❤️❤️
This reminds me of Dennis the Dieting Dachshund that also lost 70%+ of his body weight and went from 56lb down to 12lb. It’s ok to give your dogs a table scrap now and then. Feeding them the same portions of the same food you’re eating is abuse.
Especially when they’re small like that
