    Yessir. That's a real ass seafood gumbo. I've always deslimed my okra by sort of smothering it. I never thought to try boiling like that, definitely going to give that a go next time.
    I've also never seen scallops in it, but I like the idea. I do normally put some chunk salmon meat. It breaks apart and just becomes seafood thickness.
    For people who haven't had a seafood gumbo like this.. it's a different experience than a standard chicken and sausage gumbo. The chicken gumbo will be a juice with pieces of chicken and sausage in it.
    For the seafood gumbo... All that okra breaks down. That lumo crab breaks down. Smaller crawfish and oyster pieces break down. Rather than a juice with stuff floating, it's a very thick slop (for lack of a better word) of seafood goodness. Every bite is just super thick and hearty.

      @@dwrecked9329 salmon is delicious, ... just interesting that you'd use it in gumbo to hide its flavor if you say it doesnt taste like salmon.. Not saying it wouldn't be delicious.. i love gumbo and i love salmon but i grew up in LA and had never seen that recipe, maybe because salmon isn't caught locally in LA, but it sounds good sure yes. all seafood is great and gumbo sounds good with any seafood, chicken, andouille, etc

    • @dwrecked9329
      @dwrecked9329 Год назад

      @@bfboobie i also grew up in La. You can use any boneless fish meat, it's just that the taste of the meat won't come through because of all of the other flavor. You could use sacalait or bass, but it's kind of a waste since those are good for frying. Salmon meat is available cheap at walmart. It's probably more that I grew up working in my dad's catering business so when you cook a seafood gumbo for 200+ people, it needs to scale better than whatever fish you have in the freezer

    Got me some Two Step Fire and that stuff is so much better than the other Cajun seasonings at the store. Even Tony's which is saying something because I loved Tony. I put Two Step fire in everything I eat, it is amazing. I even dry brined a stake with it. It was great. I made an Oyster, mushroom, and Shrimp soup the other day with it, and it was amazing.

    My daddy always knew on the first snowfall of the season, momma was making him gumbo like his momma used to make. It was a chicken gumbo. And boy was it good. I sure do miss them both. I got mommas wagonerware big pots and her giant fry pan.

    Yes, the secret to a good gumbo all depends on the Roux! Take your time and STIR! That's MONEY and FIRE! 🔥💲🍻👍
