  • Seafood Gumbo Recipe | #SoulFoodSunday - Here's another drop for #SoulFoodSunday playlist. This is a delicious and easy to follow Seafood Gumbo Recipe. This Seafood Gumbo is full of shrimp, crab, and sausage and it has a nice smooth kick to it as well. Enjoy!
    Seafood Gumbo Ingredients
    2 - 3 lbs. Peeled and Deveined Shrimp (large)
    1 - 2 lbs. Anduille Sausage
    1 lb. Lump Crab Meat (optional)
    2 lbs. King Crab Legs
    1.5 lbs. Snow Crab Legs
    2 (32 ounce) Chicken Broth
    1/2 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil
    1 cup All Purpose Flour
    1/2 cup Butter (divided)
    1 - 2 cups finely chopped Yellow Onion
    1 cup finely chopped Green Pepper
    1 cup finely chopped Celery
    2 tbsp minced Garlic
    1 tbsp Cajun or Creole Seasoning (Creole Kick)
    1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
    1 12 oz. bottle of Beer
    1 tsp dried Thyme
    3 - 5 Bay Leafs
    1/2 cup Green Onions (tops diced)
    1-4 cup fresh Parsley
    Serve with white rice.

      @@ciripmd yes I did I was nervous at first too 😂 but you don’t even taste the beer and it gets mixed in with the other liquids, so it doesn’t have any affect on you 😂😂

    I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this recipe. I flossed on my family with this recipe on Christmas and everybody went nuts. My mom said it was the best gumbo that she has ever had and she's a chef that has cooked for three US presidents! Bruh, this was a game changer!     I'm from Detroit and my job sent me to Louisiana for 3 months. Had some seafood gumbo from a lady down there and it was incredible. I tried your recipe and it took me back. Turned out phenomenal! Thanks bro can't wait to run it back.

      I use to live in Louisiana I have to make it myself I live in VA now and nobody can make it the way I like... I like the Cajun creole seafood gumbo!! But his look good but we don’t use celery but it looks great! I would definitely eat it!😋

    I know I am here 2 years later. But let me tell you that I tried this recipe tonight, and the gumbo came out PERFECT!!! I did not have beer, but it was still AMAZING!! My husband absolutely loved it! AB your videos and recipes gives me confidence in the kitchen 😃

    I made this for New Year’s Day dinner, and it came out so good. I’ve wanted to make gumbo for the longest time, but wasn’t convinced I could pull it off. The detailed instructions in this video helped me do it. Everyone in my family absolutely loved it. 🔥

    I made gumbo for the first time this weekend. I used this recipe and subbed crab for chicken, turkey andullie for house made crawfish andullie, and used homemade stock. My dad, son, husband, and his friend ate it all within 24 hrs. I was in disbelief. My dad is a gumbo snob. So he’d have know reservations about telling me if this ain’t it. Thank you for putting out recipes us regular folks, with regular kitchens can still throw down with.

    YES SIIIIIRRRRR!!! First time making gumbo….I made this on 12/25/23 WHEW CHILE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I didn’t have beer, celery, Worcestershire, I used a squirt of Braggs Liquid Amino , white onion and for extra seasoning I added Old Bay…. I took a deep breath after the first taste😂 it was a hit with the Fam & my Hunnyman😘

    I made this yesterday for my family and it was soooo good! I added okra and adjusted the seasoning amounts to my taste but made the recipe as is otherwise….PERFECTION! I didn’t burn the roux but it was a labor of love lol!

      Can I ask how you store this? I’m afraid of spoiling the seafood. That happened to my aunt one year. After cooking.. i should let it cool all the way down to room temperature before refrigerating right ?

      @ lady red.... wow! Much respect on your insight to the do’s and don’t’s of making the best gumbo possible!.... my mom was from Tyler, Texas and when she made gumbo it was the best..... I’m from Cali and I just can’t front on any gumbo because it’s my favorite😁 and with that said, I do know the south do play when it comes to good cooking and food!       Best gumbo is in the Acadian area of Louisiana, the W sauce would make us cringe but other than that he got it down also blue crabs all day

    You have taught me so very much. I am a very good, " Old School, " cook. However, you never ever stop learning. There are certain dishes that I am accustomed to in my geographical area in East Texas. Louisiana cooking in it's entirety is not one of my custom specialties. However, I do make some Louisiana favored dishes. Thank you for your professional extra ordinary cooking skills.     tried this recipe. It was absolutely amazing. Every bite was eaten. The only thing I was nervous about was I adjusted the portion up because I did this for family Christmas this year. I was scared I would over or undergo something. Myself and my 4 children got in the kitchen prepared and executed. We added our love for each other and it was amazing. The entire family enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your food and love for cooking with us.

    AB...thank you for posting this amazing recipe. As an Indian, I had to make sure I didn’t turn this into just another curry 😄. Followed your instructions exactly, however it took almost 2 hours for me to get my roux to a darker colour...my fault, I was too nervous to do it on a slightly higher heat. It got darker, and then I lost my nerve to keep at it and get it to a dark chocolate ( all the time, in my head I could hear you say “ you gotta trust the process” 😂). I couldn’t get my hands on Andouille sausage, so I subbed with Polish Brats instead. Let me just say, this came out fantastic ! My family polished it all off. Definitely making this again.

    My fiancé just made a gumbo and we knew we needed to try a seafood gumbo. Lord have MERCY! I knew we would be in good hands when we saw big man in the kitchen- I would trust this man to make a bomb ass seafood gumbo, chicken wings- I would trust this man. To give me legal advice. I would trust this man to hold my luggage at the airport. I would trust this man to hold my crying child and allow the smooth sound of his voice to put my child to a restful sleep. 🙏🏼✨

    pork stock is how i was taught but i like this with the sausage. penchetta or bacon and water. ty for a new spin.
