I'm from the River Parishes in South Louisiana. Gumbo is one of my favorite things to cook and eat. I always enjoy watching your videos and have used many of your recipes. Most people here will make a chicken and andouille gumbo, a shrimp and okra gumbo, or a seafood gumbo (with okra). I actually like what you made and will give it a try. Keep making easy to follow and delicious recipes and videos.
I dont care about authenticity to any region this man makes some damn good looking food and i plan on copying a lot of it for my job. I know people that will eat first and ask questions never. This dude has helped me out a lot
I have been making gumbo for about 30 years now, ever since I had my first taste of "real" Cajun and Creole food down in New Orleans during Mardi Gras while I was in college. I have tried every shade of roux from blonde to dark chocolate. (the darker the better IMHO) I have used almost every type of meat from store-bought sausage, to duck and pheasants. For some reason, I had never tried turkey, until last November. Due to an early snowstorm, we had an entire left over turkey that didn't get fried, so I cut it up and used most of it for gumbo. Turned out great. I don't usually put tomatoes in it, but I have several times, and it tastes fine. If I want a little acidity, I sometimes put a ¼ cup of red wine vinegar, lemon juice, Worchesteshire sauce, or hot sauce in it. Normally, I just put those on the table and let people flavor it however they want. Thanks alot AB! Now I want gumbo, and it's supposed to be 100⁰ today. Lol!
Mmmmm 🤤! I just made a huge pot of seafood gumbo for my birthday. I hadn't made it in a while, so I went and peeked at some of your videos😁! I pulled out those shrimp and lobster shells out of my freezer for my stock, too! It was deeeeelicious 😋! Thanks AB!
Both my grandparents on my mom's side are from Louisiana. My grandfather is Creole as it gets any my grandmother is black. She always made it Creole style how my gpa likes it, which has the tomatoes and is not really spicy at all in comparison to Cajun style. She just turned 92 and is the only grandparent i have left. But she still throwing it down every Holiday. So greatful for that.
Pretty much how i cook my gumbo & combination of ingredients. Only thing is NO tomato products 4me. I cook my chicken thighs in with the sausage&get some color on them ( boneless/skinless). Excellent love your presentation!❤❤❤
My favorite gumbo is whats in the bowl in front of me. A tip for welders especially if you are a business owner if you use anti spatter spray is to use an off brand product like pam cooking spray that is less expensive than what you get at welding supply stores.
I gotta do this, man. I did your crockpot version and it was a show stopper. This looks even better. I don't know what an "authentic" gumbo recipe is, but this looks pretty damn good to me. Great content here!!
Lake Charles here, no tomatoes.! Plus he said that time of year, definitely not that time of year that we usually make it. Even though once or twice during Summer we may. 😂
WOW! This guy just took it over the top!!!.... Im going to use this concept for my next get together... AB honey,,,, if you're listening... you are super talented!!
Praise the Lord God and Jesus Christ morning, I enjoyed watching your content, that gumbo looks really delicious to the taste, you could have added a 1/2 of corn on the cob with it, your preference, but scrumptious chicken, shrimp and crab meat Umm umm! Wish I was there!
I always thought I had to make everything fron scratch like my mom when making Gumbo so I don't make it often it's to much work.... but the idea u gave me for the RUE was great I'm trying the whole recipe next week thank you 💙
AB you are the man... would you ever consider doing some more Keto videos? I've seen your older material but would be interested if you did an update? I've just added this to my meal prep playlist though!
okra grows super easy. and freezes really well (I pick it then put it in the fridge until the next day then freeze so I don't get ixe crystals). and somehow it cuts really well straight from the freezer (no idea how that magic works).
That looks amazing. I like the crabmeat, never thought of that. Maybe some crawfish and/or chorizo would go nice too. How about some nice sweet briny oysters?
Also u will get a bunch of people saying chicken n sausage or seafood.... we black from New Awlins and gumbo is crab shrimp, beef tips if ya gotem, sausage, chicken ....gumbo means everything we typically make ours without okra but it aint a party foul if its in it😂
😂😅 AB had me laughing so hard...at the 18:23 mark, he said a four letter word...that's right AB, don't torture yourself or us by waiting to dive in that delicious looking pot of gumbo. Tfs.😂
I'm surprised he used chicken breast. I ONLY will use seared chicken wing drumettes, because the bone adds great flavor. Also will boil down shrimp shells, briefly and add that to liquid. I also find adding real crab in shells adds to the flavor as well, but his is A LOT easier to eat! 😄 Will not ever use canned or boxed chicken broth any more, cause "Better than Bouillon" brand BLOWS the others away! But tomatoes?? Might try a little squeeze paste next time. Looks interesting, but reminds me of Julia Childs Beef burgundy.
I don't know how many times I've watched AB make gumbo, but it NEVER gets old! It's hypnotizing.. once I start watchin' I can't look away!

This looks amazing I have to make this today! Can I request you make a Gumbo sandwich similar to Orleans and York deli gumbo mumbo sandwich
You can add your veggies at different times throughout to diversify textures.
Love you, AB!

AB, thanks and a quick question. What is file (sp), the optional spice you showed at the same time as the bay leaf? I appreciate you and your channel!
OMG looks so delicious 😋
Looks great! Subscribed.
Awesome
Looks delicious as always! I just made gumbo earlier in the week too. What size pot are you using?
That's the essence of the meat that was cooked.😊
Fire🔥
I like to use lard but is sometimes now difficult to find in smaller quantities. I took a wooden spoon and cut the tip off square, call it rouxstir.
Look so good. ❤❤😮
That looks amazing. I like the crabmeat, never thought of that. Maybe some crawfish and/or chorizo would go nice too. How about some nice sweet briny oysters?
Damn, looks good 😋
Outstanding ❤
I always fry off the okra before adding to the gumbo to get rid of some of that slime
Thanks!
Yummmmm
I'm makin that for Christmas..lol
Hey do you store the bacon grease in the fridge or pantry?

Looks delicious I would make it just like that. You can always add more seafood but you don't need too😂❤
