Of all the musicians who've passed away over the last several years, Gregg's death affected me the most. Those Southern blues of his hit me straight to the core of the soul. Rest In Peace, Greg.

I feel as sad as when my dad died. I was at my dad's death bed and a friend of mine called and goes, "Johnny Winter just died." I go, "no shit? My dad just died." I envisioned my dad drinking his rum and Johnny drinking his whiskey as they waited to get shipped to the perverted side of heaven! two other friends then took me golfing and got me stoned as you can get before making me a steak and lobster dinner and making me eat it, and cry, and smoke more, and talk about my dad and all the crazy times, and help me through that very somber moment of my life. It is good to have real, true, honest, friends. I don't have many, three, but I thank the Creator every day for them
Listen to those birds singing, they know someone truly great is to be laid to rest.
Those are Mockingbirds singing--one of the most treasured songbirds throughout the South....
Yeah I was thinking same thing saw a video awhile back a mother was at her young sons grave a bird just kept singing and dancing around her she held out her hand and the bird lands in her hand and sings away.. She stopped crying and said she now is okay and believed the bird was telling her he is okay.

I have been listening to that song since it came out. I've been listening to the Brothers for over 40 years, I STILL get chills when I hear that song on one of my taped shows. SO many different versions, such a heart touching, soul wrenching, song, A TRUE MASTERPIECE of Dickey's is High Falls, any arguments? Peace to ALL Brothers and Sisters.
The Great Spirit is in ALL things. My dad died going on 3 years ago. I was fortunate enough to be there when he died. I live in another state. The day after he died I was headed home and my CD player quit about 20 mins. into the trip. All I had as commercial radio for 6 hours. I was PISSED! I was on the interstate and I said out loud, REAL loud, "If everything is OK please let me know, FUCK!" Not a minute later a station that was fading in and out came in real clear and started playin "Southern Cross" by CS&N, the live version. Two birds, I have no idea what kind, but they were big, started doing dips and dives in the sky in front of me as I drove. When the song ended the station was done. I may not believe in the Bible, or any other religion, but I KNOW The Great Spirit is real and I knew my prayer was answered.
Sincere condolences to the Allman family, Greggs band mates and friends. What an amazing musical legacy, he has left behind. Thank you Mr. Allman, you will always be missed.

Kathy Stokes And he looked wonderful. Who knew? Maybe he did, and decided to give one last big interview. Glad it was with with the man himself. the 📺 man and the 🎶 man. nothing less than lovely and touching. Rest in golden slumbers Mr. Gregg Allman.
