❤ just heard this for the first time and immediately am in love ❤️ 😍 so sad that they are almost all Gone. Rest in peace DB. My mom loved this band and she died shortly after Greg. She named my older sister after Melissa and I was always jealous I wasn't a Jessica 😢 Hope heaven 🎶 is rocking tonight
It's one of mine as well, but hardly anyone seems to know it not even a lot of ABB fans. I saw the band when they were touring on this album, and I fell in love with this song the first time I ever heard it. I sometimes harmonize with Dickey when I'm playing Seven Turns in my car, although sometimes I also sing with Gregg near the end of the song. ❤️
@@chantalferrara7114Check out the Allman Betts band led by Gregg's son Devon Allman and Dickey's son Duane Betts. Each of them also has their own band, as Berry Duane Oakley, who played with them originally but seems floated away. And every year in recent years they do a tour called the Allman Family Revival, which features lots of other great musicians - enough to stretch across the entire stage for the finale - playing the Allman Brothers Band's catalog. I can't say whether they'll do it again this year but I went to the last one in Macon and it was unforgettable! I sometimes fondly refer to The Allman Betts Band as ABB v.2! They started out doing mostly their fathers' songs, and they still do some of them, but they have several albums out and they're great. I can see their songwriting and performance dynamics improving each time I see them. For example, at the most recent show I've seen, they did a version of In Memory of Elizabeth Reed which was a highly improvisational jam of their own yet still faithful to the original version. ❤

It was great but certainly never the same. Warren, Derek and Oteil had nice chemistry for sure, but the ABB reform with Dickey and Warren were up close to the Duane days for me.
I'm 65 brother, and the Allman Brothers never gets old for me. Used to run into Dick and Greg quite often in the 70's and 80's on Anna Maria Island and Bradenton.
Whenever I hear or read the term "Southern Rock" I always remember what Greg Allman once said.... He said Rock n Roll music was born in the South...so, saying Southern Rock is basically saying Rock-Rock! lol True story.
Some of the best live shows I ever had the privilege to be a part of,many thanks Mr Betts. You and David Allen Coe put on one hell of a show, rest in peace.

Gonna be such a tragedy when we finally lose Dickey. Not looking forward to that. 😔 Thank God his son Duane is carrying on the legacy...and I guess we could thank Dickey for having a son that looks *EXACTLY* like him when he was around that age. He even plays like Dickey lol. But I'd expect it since his daddy is his favorite guitarist. 😎👍❤️ And unlike the Earnhardts in NASCAR, I'm sure Dickey taught Duane to play, and likely played with him often where Earnhardt Sr didn't teach Jr to race and they never talked about it really.
its a lot of pain that the Allman Brothers are no longer with us presently. but their incredible music and legacy will live on forever. thank you guys !!!

I just set the brakes on the yard in Jacksonville. Kinda appropriate. I climb back in the bunk to relax only to find out we lost Dickie Betts. I've spent the last couple hours listening to ABB tunes on my laptop. This song is probably my absolute favorite that he wrote. I've been a fan since the late 70's and had only one opportunity to see them in the late 80's. The music world has lost one of the greatest legends of all time. My only solace is that Dickie has rejoined his lost brothers Duane, Greg, Barry, and Butch in heaven. My condolences go out to his family and band mates. Keep rocking in heaven brother!
God bless you, Dickey. You’ve passed through them crossroads. May you rest in peace. You will all be together again. Thank you for so many good memories and fun.

So very sad, prayers, sympathies, and condolances to Mr. Betts' family, my much adored legendary one and only Dickey Betts is now hopefully jamming in heaven with Duane, Butch, Lamar, Gregg, Berry. One of the true greatest guitarists EVER, a virtuoso of rock, blues, swing, country and more, and one of my very favorite singer songwriters too, I just LOVE Seven Turns, Revival, Blue Sky, Where It All Begins, and also his solo work, Nancy, Duane's Tune. The Memories I have of seeing and hearing Dickey perform and play live, just awesome. When I first saw him playing Duane's Tune in 1989 at the Allman Brothers Band 25th Anniversary and Dreams Boxed Set Reunion at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, Maryland, I jammed and rocked my you know what off, I saw Mr. Betts perform many times in concert and was blessed to meet him backstage. Rest in the great band in the Blue Sky Mr. Betts!
Man, look at Butch & Jaimoe. You could tell they genuinely loved each other like the Brothers they were. Those boys would followed Duane through the fire & the flames. Hey suzyq...from down here in SW Fl in dicky's backyard! Met him. See him at holidays where ever theres music. Lol. Saw him in his last concert. His son is just as good (if not better)! We love him down here no matter what!!!
Lucky you. He seems like a down to earth guy. Really love this band, especially the original line up. Also a fan of Allman Betts Band. Devon Allman has some voice. Wish I could travel back in time. Life seemed a bit more simple and the BEST MUSIC EVER! The bands coming out of that era were insanely talented.
Why not i know he was one of the originals but Gregg could hire who he wanted it was Betts who left the band anyway and Duane was missed when he died and he was a great guitar player and if he lived would have been one of the greatest
I met Greg once while his plane was fueling near Johnson City, Tennessee. Such a nice and down to Earth guy. He spoke of his brother passing, strugglung with addictions, and their band. Such a sweet Fellow yet so sad..God bless him. Light & Love Dude Revolution and Peace on Earth! Rock on..
I got in the back of a shorter than expected line at the left side of the stage, stage-right as it were, most concert goers missed, 2006 ish at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA. Got autographs from him and his son, Devon's band "Honeytribe" opened for TABB. I Talked to Gregg a good ten or fifteen minutes. Same as you said, clean and sober then, but still paying the price with Hepatitis-C, it's what killed him in the end. And/Or related problems. Duane my favorite but little brother got great on his own right and stayed in the limelight for over 4 decades. RIP Dickey may be a spun jerk or whatever, but he sure af killin' it here! I go back to "Brothers and Sisters" and the Fillmore East stuff. Duane before that as Studio Musician, "Layla" with E.C. (Derek and the Dominoes), "Hey Jude" w/Wilson Picket a must hear, Aretha Franklin, John Hammond, Bozz Skaggs ("Somebody Loan me a dime"), etcetera. [See Anthology I & II] So yeah, we had a lot to talk about and did, even Cher lol. Happy times, great memories.
This song can be applied to a lot of different things and situations. Betts was a master at knitting them together in his songwriting. He is surely missed. RIP Dickey Betts
In memory of Dickey Betts who was gone way too soon. Still had some music left in him. Got a lump in my throat. Have to do something about those onions.
What a great comment Ron. If ever there was justice due, it is on this topic, and to these people. Many heritages have been persecuted worldwide, but these persecutions pale in comparison to what the Native people of North and South America went through. I've made it a goal to read everything I can on this subject. A great lesson is a book titled "The American Holocaust". At about halfway through it, I had to put it down for about 6 months because the graphic nature of the pain these people endured was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I often wonder about when the chickens will come home to roost. In other words, how long can one hide the truth, and how long can a nation last if it was founded upon genocide? So much lost knowledge. Best to you and your family. Rob
Hoserintraining Yup That’s what we are trying to do to this day. We are a forgotten people that Europeans tried to wipe off this Earth. But we’re still here. My father is the fancy dancer in this video, the one in red. Because of how he raised my siblings and I, we are the next generation to keep our ways alive. For myself, I’m a teacher. I teach the youth our native language and culture in public high schools. I love my people, as I love this earth. Because of that, I advocate for change and for the truth to be told. It’s just natural, it is how I was raised. Honor and pride.
Hoserintraining Yup There are many Indigenous people around the world, including Canada, America and in other countries. They were treated very badly. Sad.
WELL THE BROTHERS ARE ALL BACK TOGETHER AGAIN OTHER THEN WARREN. I NEVER WOULD'VE EVER THOUGHT THAT NIGHT AFTER MEETING Y'ALL BACKSTAGE WE WOULD BECOME FRIENDS. IT WAS A TRUE PLEASURE MEETING Y'ALL, AND WAS A BLESSING FROM ABOVE. Y'ALL WERE TRULY DOWN THE EARTH. DICKEY YOU WERE ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYERS AND WRITERS THAT EVER WAS TO COME OUT OF THE SOUTH. MAY YOU AND THE BROTHERS BE RESTING IN HEAVENLY PEACE.🕊️🦅🗽
I’ve been a fan of this band and Derek trucks for close to 14 years. I’ve spent countless hours of listening and trying to emulate both Duanes & dereks playing. But warrens slide solo on this is one of the best I’ve heard absolutely breathtaking. Miss you Dickie and butch the road goes on forever….
Somebodies calling your name as I Love that lyric in this song! I lost my Mother 44 years ago in an automobile accident when I was a freshman in College and I always feel her calling my name from time to time. I've made so many turns on my highway over the many years as this Song always hits home to me. Many were good turns others were not so good at all! and that's why this song always hits home and there's No telling where my journey lies as I always believe this is what this song is about. The older I get the more it hits home as I've lost 6 older brothers and sisters also along my journey! Maybe I'm wrong, but I always believe that's what this song is about.
Even though this song came along after the height of their popularity , I still think it is one of their best. Dickie Betts is a helluva Songwriter. Not to mention his singing and guitar playing ( lol ) True greatness !
THe first time I heard this all the way through, it made me look in the mirror and see who was looking back. Now that I'm 59, there are a whole lot of lifes measures all over now. The scars carry the tune of many a night when I just couldn't get through to the morning. Music is an outlet of pure inner dimensions that permit every ounce of passion in whatever form, to breath down into your soul. I love how all of the technical shit is where I can play the music as loud as I want with no problem. If I'm going to go deaf, this is the way to go. I "feel" the notes and directions, the soaring of a good chorus and verse. We must keep the music alive,
Kellie Hilton We the are about the same age and I can identify with your comments ! PS you sound like the kind of person that may appreciate a band that is down to earth and well grounded. ( Blackberry Smoke)
I play this song on my birthday, July 3rd,1975. I started doing this at 18, and it reminds me to fly on the straight and narrow road of life's choices.

Yep, would have to agree. Dickie just kills it and Gregg’s vocals towards end are masterful.
❤
I appreciate it filmed in NM
There could be no ABB without the great Dickie Betts! Love his solo albums too, especially Highway Call!🎸🎸🎸🎼🎼🎼
Highway Call has to be a Top-10 "Most Unknown Greatest Album".
Don't forget about Duane, and Oakley the best bass player ever
Why not i know he was one of the originals but Gregg could hire who he wanted it was Betts who left the band anyway and Duane was missed when he died and he was a great guitar player and if he lived would have been one of the greatest
I met Greg once while his plane was fueling near Johnson City, Tennessee. Such a nice and down to Earth guy. He spoke of his brother passing, strugglung with addictions, and their band. Such a sweet Fellow yet so sad..God bless him. Light & Love Dude
Revolution and Peace on Earth!
Rock on..
you forget to tell us what year that was !!!
ONE MORE THING AWEKENED WARRIOR WHATS THIS PICTURE WHICH REPRESENT SUCH A PERSONALITY !!!!
RIP
Dickey may be a spun jerk or whatever, but he sure af killin' it here!
[See Anthology I & II]
So yeah, we had a lot to talk about and did, even Cher lol. Happy times, great memories.
theres a bunch of us. im not sure most women truly know a man needs you very much so....
in a dream Heaven's balcony who is really dreaming and who is not
This song can be applied to a lot of different things and situations. Betts was a master at knitting them together in his songwriting. He is surely missed. RIP Dickey Betts
In memory of Dickey Betts who was gone way too soon. Still had some music left in him. Got a lump in my throat. Have to do something about those onions.
Showing respect to our Native people pure class.
Nice call.
Ronald Isenberg I'm pretty sure Dickey wrote Blue Sky for his native girlfriend.
God bless you, Dickie. Misunderstood Rock icon.
I can't believe I've never heard this until today for the first time. It immediately went on my list of favorites.
it was well after many allman brothers live shows that i too discovered this song. it’s a favorite here as well!
Thanks Dickie for great memories and music.....❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

RIP Allen, Butch, and Gregg...Greatest lineup of the greatest band!!
One of my favorite songs sending my condolences to the Betts family. Thank you for the music Dickey Rest in peace
So much good music, so many great concert memories ... and then there were none.
Truly one of his greatest writing, singing and playing. RIP
Americana at it finest!!! Thanks brothers
Rest PEACEFULLY brother Dickey Betts
And rise in glory.
R.I.P. Dickey, "Seven Turns" and "Jessica" are one of the best Songs! Thanks for all this very important Songs. Love you for ever!
One of Mr. Forrest Richard "Dickey" Betts best tunes ever and no one but no one can do it like the Ramblin' Man can!
So so true!!! And I love seeing him moving around!!!
Awesome job!!!
Christ, another empty saddle, RIP Mr. Betts.
RIP Dickey. I still have my Pattern Disruptive album on cassette that I would listen to on my way to school.
👍👍♥️🙏🙏
Even though this song came along after the height of their popularity , I still think it is one of their best. Dickie Betts is a helluva Songwriter. Not to mention his singing and guitar playing ( lol ) True greatness !
Warren Haynes is great slide player. Now he is with Gov't mule which is a great band.
RIP, Dickey. Thank you so much for sharing your God-given talent with us. "We'll meet again."
My friend Shannon who passed away just before Thanksgiving RIP my friend
THe first time I heard this all the way through, it made me look in the mirror and see who was looking back. Now that I'm 59, there are a whole lot of lifes measures all over now. The scars carry the tune of many a night when I just couldn't get through to the morning. Music is an outlet of pure inner dimensions that permit every ounce of passion in whatever form, to breath down into your soul. I love how all of the technical shit is where I can play the music as loud as I want with no problem. If I'm going to go deaf, this is the way to go. I "feel" the notes and directions, the soaring of a good chorus and verse. We must keep the music alive,
Kellie Hilton . Well said sir!
Actually, I'm a full grown, soul surviving woman. Thank you for the compliment.
Kellie Hilton We the are about the same age and I can identify with your comments ! PS you sound like the kind of person that may appreciate a band that is down to earth and well grounded. ( Blackberry Smoke)
I play this song on my birthday, July 3rd,1975. I started doing this at 18, and it reminds me to fly on the straight and narrow road of life's choices.
gotta love Dickey.
Always loved Dickey. Gregg's biography paints quite an unfavorable picture of him, but their music stands the test of time
@@paulabrush3517 It happens to many bands that stay together for many decades. This video is AMAZING. Best band ever, and I'm glad to have heard that Gregg and Richard came together before Greg's passing.. RIP Gregg; brother Sky Dog is with you now😎✌🍄
I think he wrote this for us to realize our paths...and live on in the next world. Its a beginning too huh friend?
