Dickey Betts pickin on that red guitar as Charlie Daniels said in "South's Gonna Do It Again" Dickey was like no other. That's what made him so special. RIP Dickey.
the beginning of this jam sounds just like Franklins Tower by the Grateful Dead and the way Dickey plays during that part reminds of Jerry a bit. What an amazing transition into Blue Sky
It totally is, he did that as a tribute to Jerry, Warren Haynes song, actually a Phil and Friends song, Patchwork Quilt explains they were "at Jones Beach" when they found out, mutual respect was consistent within the Allmans and Dead throughout their careers, to this day, cheers!
Blessed to have seen him play several times. My summer ritual is going to see the Allman Bros jam at our local Amphitheater or a road trip. Living here in Charlotte was much easier catching a show in the Carolinas or Georgia. RIP Dicky Betts
Got that right. Butch was the only guy who played every ABB gig except Gregg. His death was horrible and entirely preventable. I feel sorry for his poor wife who was forced to witness the dreadful spectacle.

He wasn’t really a blues player was he that’s the point really. I love the blues it’s my music but he brought a different but compatible edge just such beautiful melodies...
Although dickey betts rarely used the blues scale. So i wouldnt say hes a straight blues player. He favoured the major scale which gives us a happy sounding solo instead of a bluesy sounding solo
Any love for Jack Pearson (in the overalls) that man LOVED Duane so much he ended up in the Allmans. What a dream come true.

R.I.P. Dickie...you did well in your life. Thanks for the memories 👍🏼😢
Love this song, Love the Allman Brothers Band
For me, it does not get any better than this...thanks for the excellence, Dickey! You DEFINITELY made your mark. Blue Skies Foreve! RIP.
Best live band ever!
Thanks for jamming my brothers through their service, lockup , and lived. Love and RIP
Thank you Dickie for some delightful times
Man, this era of musicians can make a bad day better or a good day great! DB was great!
RIP Dickey Betts. Thanks for all those years and those solos that were smooth as buttered glass.
Blue Sky always reminds of kindly driving on rolling country roads in my '71 cougar, windows down on a beautiful day. Pure bliss if only for awhile.
Well said.... ME TOO!!
RIP sir...😢
Sry Greatful Dead......you could Never Touch this Tune as good as These Boy's
when did the Grateful Dead ever cover Blue Sky? (correct answer: never)
@@thejamnasium6447Phil Lesh & Friends did it many times though !
Hem and Warren together as good as it gets 😊
What a great band. The Allman Brothers Band are my favourite band for many years. Their sound is just amazing, and i can hear them for hours.
the beginning of this jam sounds just like Franklins Tower by the Grateful Dead and the way Dickey plays during that part reminds of Jerry a bit.
Dickie loved Jerry
Blessed to have seen him play several times. My summer ritual is going to see the Allman Bros jam at our local Amphitheater or a road trip. Living here in Charlotte was much easier catching a show in the Carolinas or Georgia. RIP Dicky Betts
RIP Butch Trucks, never forgotten by ABB fans
Amen...my favorite band ever! AB Forever!
Dam straight
But his son Derek, oh my God that kid can play....
@@byronclark2506 I think Derek is his nephew, but I would have to look it up.
Got that right. Butch was the only guy who played every ABB gig except Gregg. His death was horrible and entirely preventable. I feel sorry for his poor wife who was forced to witness the dreadful spectacle.
RIP Dickey ! He will ALWAYS be an Allman Brother !!!
Going to be missed but not forgotten Rest in peace my brother you left a Mark on my life Thanks for all your music 🎵🎵🎶🎶😢😢😢😢 music classic rock music
He's Definitely My Blue Sky
He Makes Me Smile As Soon As He Enters The Room
He Smiles As Soon As The Gaze From My Eyes Sees Him❤❣️💘💕💞🥰😍🌟✨️🌷❤️🔥❤️🔥🍀🍀💖🌞😀😍💯
Thank you Dicky. Soundtrack to my life. Rest easy!
Thank you for the music Dickey rest in peace
Wonderful artist who entertained millions exuding the simple message of having fun and loving your brothers & sisters.
I was sick to my stomach, also. I have the honor of calling Dickey a friend.
It's cool to see Dickey Betts playing a strat, he's usually playing a Gibby
Yet still sounding just as great.
71 years old and still jamming to this awesome song
Standing here on "Franklin's Tower" and all I can see is sheer "Blue Sky..."
RIP Dicky blue skies forever...he sure could play!!!
😎 tearing it up kids , I’m glad I’m an ol’ dude , we new what rocked ‼️👍
Blackpowder Productions Right Arm, dude, we did & STILL DO , no meddlin intended !!!!!!!
We may be old but we got to see all the bands.
It broke my heart when the Warehouse in N.O.closed.
Being an old dude (70) who still loves good music not the Justin Bieber or Sean Mendez shit that kids listen today.
Absolutely
@@jamestownsend3673 our first time we pulled up in N.O. from Houston to perform looking around for the Warehouse (I thought it was called Jimmy's Warehouse at the time) .. we all looked up and saw busted out glass not in the best of shape or neighborhood .. lol .. it packed the 2 nights we were double billed there great group of college kids from Loyola and all .. we played the southern circuit between Texas over to Florida way back then .. memorable indoor and outdoor venues .. the Warehouse being one
I was at this show , it was a road trip.......killer show and killer parking lot party scene. The Allman's at their best! Jack and Dickey!
you wouldn't happen to remember the exact date would you? I'm having a hell of a time tracking down the full concert recording of this
@@venomwhisper3783 either September 17…18….or 19……it was a Saturday night 1998

Don’t mention it Venom…thanks…….I lived it……Enjoy the show, it’s a gem 💎
Anything “Allman Brothers” always makes my skies blue! They are my forever favorite band. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Me too! :-)
I remember seeing the original band in Piedmont Park ,Atlanta in 1969. Had a job on 10th St. Worked at Atlantic Water Bed. Good times
❤ Thanks for the music guys, all reunited in the blue skys
Intro sounded like Jerry Garcia, roll away the stone. 04/18/2024, lost another legend. RIP Duane, Jerry, Dickey Jimi & countless others.
Franklins Tower! Those years were great. You could go see The Grateful Dead and Allman Bros. in one summer. Both band were peaking again. Good times!
Awesome! Love Dicky Betts! One of the best Blues guitarist of all time!
Not one of the best blues guitarists...he IS THE BEST
He wasn’t really a blues player was he that’s the point really. I love the blues it’s my music but he brought a different but compatible edge just such beautiful melodies...
Although dickey betts rarely used the blues scale. So i wouldnt say hes a straight blues player. He favoured the major scale which gives us a happy sounding solo instead of a bluesy sounding solo
Dickey's whole soul and being was music. He lived and breathed it - thank you!!
One of the greatest performances ever.
Perfect music
With a Franklins Tower intro tease!
