@@kay_girl_97 what happend to Rey so she would got filled with "hate and darkness" tho, my guy Anakin was filled with hate many times during his life, yet he never used lightning once.
This was a case for accidental discovery. I thought this scene was cool. She only did it one time under great stress, and anger. Palpatine suggested that Rey posses force potential similar to himself. Because Kylo(Ben) said to Rey, _You have his power._ This scene foreshadows how terrifyingly powerful Rey could become, if she fell to the dark side.

Yup. There was a lot of wasted potential in Finn. The point of view of a former stormtrooper could have been amazing. Besides having a great backstory, Finn has insider information into First Order training, tactics and technology. That information is incredibly VALUABLE. But instead, Disney chose to make him Rey's stumbling, bumbling sidekick.
MeihanaBee and Thad Castle ahhh excellent joke 👏👏👏👏. You gotta be a comedian when you’re older because this is the best joke I’ve ever heard. (Sarcasm)
King Pickle Exactly what I thought should’ve happened. Maybe white or gold energy, a lot more smooth than lightning, or maybe just regular force lightning.
I just remembered blue Force lightning is the weakest color lightning there is. Purple is stronger and red is the strongest. Rey destroyed an entire transport with BLUE Force lightning. Imagine Rey with purple lightning.
I love how many people in the comments section are pointing out how incredibly stupid this is. But no one has mentioned that force lightning doesn't affect inorganic tissue like that. If it did then Vader would have exploded when Palpatine hit him with it....
That makes no sense. Vader's suit short-circuited after receiving lightning across his entire body and damaged his suit that also served as a life support system. He was required to breathe in his mask. This doesn't make sense because Rey has overpowered force abilities with no explanation or training
Not exactly. Force lightning does effect inorganic matter to some degree, but it's extremely limited, like making sparks and smudges. Its wasn't the destruction of Vader's life support system that killed him, it was the fact that Force lightning snuffed out his life force. Even directly references this when Luke refuses to remove his helmet, saying "but you'll die." Vader replied with "nothing can stop that now." Receipt for still functioning, but his life force have been damaged too much for it to save. A great many of the old sourcebooks commented on that.
Yeah its a thing now that strong female leads dont have to work for greatness they just are by default and dont need any male help or advice or even experience to add to their already perfect story arc.
Yup. It's another ability Rey just HAS now. And like everything else she can do, it's another thing she can do that she hasn't earned through teaching, training or sacrifice.
KevLar_gh0st Thats no excuse plus to actually use for lightning you need to have been on the receiving end of it at some point in your life, last I checked no one has even grazed Rey with a blaster bolt.
Her being a Palpatine isn't the reason why she is able to use lighting in general, it's the reason why she is able to use lighting easily and unconsciously. They're not saying it's a skill exclusive to a specific bloodline, they're saying her being a Palpatine is the reason why she doesn't require an extensive training. Lighting is still an ability that can be learned.
B1 battle droid: "We were experiencing some drag" Tactical Droid: "You were experiencing drag in space?" This reminds me of that scene in the clone wars
There was an amazing scene where Luke was struggling to lift a small ship and Yoda had to do it with belief. Rey with less training is able to lift a ship 100x the size with no effort and blow it up with lightning. It’s a little stupid.
Kozuki I am in no way a sequel fanboy but force lightning is powered by hate. I guess that the fact that she had so much hate in that moment released raw lightning
Charles Peralo She was pulling it down. You clearly don’t know how physics works cause pulling something down is far easier than lifting something up. Not to mention luke just met Yoda without a day of training, Rey had over a year with Leia.
@@dontbother9473 It really isn't, not when the ship's going full throttle trying to fly away. Kind of valid point about the training (although IIRC Rey was effortlessly lifting boulders before she had any training of her own and I'm pretty sure every technique she knows is self-taught), but Rey should barely have known what Sith lightning was let alone been powerful and skilled enough to blow up a whole ship with it.

There is no light or dark side, only grey. There are only two force users left, well three but he was killed. The share of the force is divided between all those who use it, that is why you had to train HARD as you had to work hard to get more share. Now that most talented users have been eradicated, mostly due to their own failings, the whole pie basically gets cut in half with a tiny sliver left for force sensitives who have to try and learn to get more. Now you have two massive slices of the cake and no light of dark and no training to control anything. It's like putting someone into car and telling them to stamp on the accelerator to make it move, guess what happens? Total common sense.
This is completely off topic, but Obi-Wan Kenobi will forever be the most humble, kind, and caring Jedi there ever was! Like wtf, it's not possible to inherit abilities , rey can only inherit strong midichlorian count from palpatine not his abilities. Those are meant to be learnt
I saw some comments attacking Daisy Ridley and I don’t agree. There were many issues with the script, especially episode 8 which I feel was the worst, but acting wise she did a great job. It’s similar to how people talked about Hayden Christianson after the prequels. Don’t blame the actors for what the writers messed up

Remember back when jedi where at their prime, trained from birth and master yoda, mace windu, etc, could stop a space ship from moving from 500m away? Nah me neither
Exactly. We see Yoda in his old age can just about lift an x-wing while it's switched off, and we also see him years earlier against dooku where he can just about stop a heavy pillar from landing on Anakin & Obi-Wan. Fast forward to this film, and Rey with about 1 year of self taught training can pull a spaceship which is max throttle trying to escape, towards her. Can you imagine how the previous films would have gone if the force was that powerful? Obi-Wan could have just rag dolled grievous. The AT-STs could have just causally be knocked over.
The whole “Rey being a Palpatine” could have worked if they had set things up earlier. The biggest problem this trilogy has was a lack of focus and overall plan, making everything seem disjointed - _The Force Awakens_ was modelled after _A New Hope_ so fans would find familiarity and subconsciously be told “this won’t be like the prequels” - _The Last Jedi_ was building off of what was set up in the first movie, but structured around subversions. I did enjoy the theme of failure and how it’s the greatest teacher in life, as well as “letting the past die”. The subversions may have gone a bit too far though and some character development was rushed and only really served for the plot. - _The Rise of Skywalker_ was going off the previous two movies and tried to backtrack on some plot points, as of a different movie happened in place of _The Last Jedi_ (that still had the same plot). Stuff like the lightsaber being fixed out of nowhere, Rose barely being present (due to “fan” backlash and the actress not wanting to really be present after all the hate she got for being in the last movie), the Sith Planet coming out of nowhere with no setup, Reys lineage, etc. They even made a point about other Stormtroopers defecting and others being hesitant, but they never go further than that. Finns character was completely sidelined and only existed as a potential love interest and possible force user. All in all, there was no real plan for the entire trilogy. They each built off of what the other movies did without delving into what was previously setup. This trilogy had so much potential, but the initial setup slightly restricting the overall story by not reign new things, the following overstep of new things without proper setup, as well as altering the script to please the fans made this trilogy a bit of a mess of different ideas all being thrown together
I agree. It's very disappointing for me as I can see moments of brilliance in this trilogy and there are things I still like even with the mess of a plot. Kylo Ren, in particular, went from a villain I considered laughable and childish to somebody I actually cared about and wanted to turn a new leaf. I even liked Luke in VIII, I will accept any death threats now. But if they actually sat down and figured out what was point B and how they would get to it it would've been satisfying. I can just imagine another universe where we get more of an insider's look into the First Order through its soldiers and how Finn isn't the only one who abandoned them. One where Phasma doesn't pull a Boba Fett and go out like a bitch (at least Boba's back in Mandalorian). And also where there were seeds planted to suggest that Palpatine was still alive from the very first movie in the trilogy. Nothing explicit, but something mysterious and makes you think about the possibility, giving the audience a sense of doubt and fear that can be shared with the characters as the truth becomes more obvious. Palpatine's return happened in Legends so that in of itself isn't out of left field. Not just, "He's back, oh shit" in movie 3. Maybe instead, Last Jedi ends with a direct sign that he's back accompanied by his laugh. Maybe you could even see him in the shadows where he's at.
@@MasuxAnderson Another huge problem was how J.J Abrams and Rian Johnson had two different plans that were incomplete. The primary example of this is with Reys lineage - Abrams wanted Rey to have a significant heritage, being related to some important character (force visions of Luke, being called to the Lightsaber, hearing Obi-Wan, etc). The fans even speculated that she was related to Jin Erso when the first trailer for _Rogue One_ was released. - Johnson wanted Rey to have no significant heritage. She would be a brand new character without direct ties to any previous character. Basically like Luke’s original character before they changed his father to be Vader. I honestly preferred the storyline where Rey wasn't directly tied to any previous characters, much like Cal Kestis in _Jedi: Fallen Order._ If that were the case, she would have just been any other fore wielder in the next era of the _Star Wars_ universe. And I think we can all agree that it would have been so much better if Finn was the main character. If they had him have confirmed force abilities from the start and have that be the reason he was able to defect, then it would have lead to an incredible story. He could have conflictions about fighting his fellow Stormtroopers because he knows they never had a choice to be there. He could have psychological damage from all the programming he endured. He could be a brand new character with no relations to previous Jedi or Sith. And his entire character wouldn't be him screaming *"REEEEEEEEEYYYYYYY"* into the distance
@@moviehermit5631 I never considered the possibility of Finn being the main character, but when I do it kind of makes sense. He's the one with the interesting and unique backstory, at least unique from the movies' perspective, and he's responsible for most of episode VII going the way it does. Other wastes of characters include General Hux, who goes from space Hitler to comedic foil and petty dumbass; Supreme Leader Snoke, who I don't mind dying in VIII so to support Kylo's character arc but still needed more importance and presence to truly make the subversion feel worthwhile; Poe Dameron, who doesn't get anything worthwhile till the last movie where it's too late; Maz Catana, who is nothing more than an info dumper; Palpatine, who lacks confidence as his plans change on a whim while also randomly showing up without any buildup or impact; and many more. Even characters I like I find aren't done with perfection. Luke has an interesting story and I appreciate him calling out the Jedi's failures from the Prequels, but his ending/death feels a bit underwhelming and too last minute despite being a creative and Jedi-like end for him. Kylo Ren was given a huge redemption as a character for me thanks to Episode VIII explaining his story and showing a new side to him, retroactively making me love Han's death scene much more, and I love his inner conversation with Han in IX. However, I felt his redemption was a bit rushed and didn't get built up enough given all of the other crazy things that happen in IX. I guess it's not JJ's fault since VIII did put a lot of focus on Rey trying to redeem Kylo Ren only for it to just be him taking power like Vader had wanted to do and I do think that's one of the more interesting things that happen in episode VIII; but even so there could have been hints that Kylo was still considering a change in sides since he never hurt anyone who didn't hurt him in VIII, at least from his perspective.

@@CritStanley Yeah, I know what you mean. The hate is overblown and unjustified regardless of the quality of the movies. But the overblown hate is annoying enough, the statement "Disney is trying to ruin Star Wars" makes it even worse cause I firmly believe it's not true. The movies all tried different things to please the fanbase. I don't think it worked half the time but I can still tell that it came from a place of genuine effort and heart. Besides, these last few years have been great years for Star Wars if you don't count the movies. Battlefront 2 EA...wasn't good but was mostly fixed into an affordable and accessible multiplayer shooter. People like that Star Wars Squadrons game to my knowledge (haven't played it myself). Fallen Order is a fantastic single-player game with a fun story that I want to see continue. Clone Wars Season 7 happened and while I could care less about the middle portion the finale was even better than I expected. I don't care about Rebels that much but it has its qualities and is far from the worst thing ever; I get why people like it. And come on...Mandalorian. Enough said.
Finn's reaction always cracked me up. Throwing his arms down like "Goddammit Rey you're not supposed to be able to do that! Have you watched the other movies?"
Yeah. Rey using force lightning makes no sense aswell because I’m pretty sure that ancient JEDI texts don’t tell you about how to use the hardest to master SITH abilities. They probably mention that Sith use it (and how to counter it) but only 1 Jedi (Plo Koon) could use Force Lightning, and that’s because he had created a different, yellow form of it called "Force Judgement" that was not very harmful but still useful, and even then the council decided against it's use (But plo used it anyway).
Perfect example of how they completely screwed up Finn. Instead of showing him as capable and able to hold his own, he cries out to Rey like she’s his mommy.

This was a case for accidental discovery. I thought this scene was cool. She only did it one time under great stress, and anger. Palpatine suggested that Rey posses force potential similar to himself. Because Kylo(Ben) said to Rey, _You have his power._

Not exactly. Force lightning does effect inorganic matter to some degree, but it's extremely limited, like making sparks and smudges. Its wasn't the destruction of Vader's life support system that killed him, it was the fact that Force lightning snuffed out his life force. Even directly references this when Luke refuses to remove his helmet, saying "but you'll die." Vader replied with "nothing can stop that now." There is no light or dark side, only grey. Now you have two massive slices of the cake and no light of dark and no training to control anything. if this movie was half as good as the sound design, it would’ve won an oscar
The whole “Rey being a Palpatine” could have worked if they had set things up earlier.
The biggest problem this trilogy has was a lack of focus and overall plan, making everything seem disjointed
- _The Force Awakens_ was modelled after _A New Hope_ so fans would find familiarity and subconsciously be told “this won’t be like the prequels”
- _The Last Jedi_ was building off of what was set up in the first movie, but structured around subversions.
The primary example of this is with Reys lineage
- Abrams wanted Rey to have a significant heritage, being related to some important character (force visions of Luke, being called to the Lightsaber, hearing Obi-Wan, etc).

Seeing a few people saying “Finn wtf shoot Kylo he’s exposed/distracted”, like are y’all forgetting Po already tried that in TFA
U think 👍
TINY RICK!
Exactly, Kylo just stopped the bullet midair
@Kieran WASTIE this
This is a perfect example of this movie wanting to have powerful moments but not wanting to deal with the consequences
Perfect example of how they completely screwed up Finn. Instead of showing him as capable and able to hold his own, he cries out to Rey like she’s his mommy.
We got to accept the actors did a great job.
Yea hats off to them and the people making the amazing audio and visuals.
And a big middle finger to the writers who ruined the entire thing.
I imagine troopers in there like what the hell is going on and one trooper looks outside and see lighting coming at them and says “oh shit”
Those Sounds were so amazing in the theatre.. I got chills!
__ he’s literally just appreciating good sound design
Can we just be nice to each other in the comments and not call each other a shill? I hate it because every time I see it it I can't comment on videos like this without thinking about who'll respond.
@__ Hi Disney haters.
When Palpatine did his force lighting at the Sky it was so loud at the cinema
__ Hi failed abortion who got no love and is now spreading hate to others who have done nothing to him
"No one can defeat rey"
That one tree on starkiller base: hah, idiots
tree: omae wa mou shindeiru
Rey: does anything
Finn: REYYYYYYYYYYYY
This was definitely foreshadowing Rey's true lineage.
That was definitely the big reveal that at the very least she was related to a Sith lord.
Connor Surette Listen my man it was obvious from TFA when she tries jabbing multiple times that she was realated to him lol.
That's not how the force works. The force itself is genetic and random. The abilities granted by the force are not.
shifter1919 My statement said nothing about her abilities, and second of all how is jabbing a lightsaber a force ability lmao.
@@Cipher132 stabbing the lightsaber isn't something she would inherit from palpatine. The only thing she would inherit from him is force sensitivity. Everything else is learned
"my grand daughter is so powerful"

[HISHE Anakin/Vader voice]: *{long inhaling gasp}* YOU HAVE A GRAND-CHILD TOO!?!? WE HAVE TO TELL EVERYBODY!!
*;D*
@@pendrake40
HEY SITH SPIRITS, PALPY IS A GRANDPAPPY!
Bruhhh
As Luke skywalker once said “talent without training is nothing” well unless your Rey I guess 😂
Or a six year old slave boy.
This scene alone destroys so many years of Star Wars lore
It's such a horrible idea to have Rey apparently use force lighting to shoe horn a hint of her being a Palpatine as if it's a power that is simply inherited instead of being earned through harsh training.
Would that make Dooku a Palpatine too?
Jj abrams:, 😁
I came back and realized that you can hear Darth Vader’s breathing
0:38
Nope, that was the music
Yep i heard it
I heard it.
Yeah
Nope, it was the music.
Finn just does what he does best: Nothing but scream for help
0:25 I thought it was Anakin for a sec, looked a lot like him from a distance.
Kylo is his grandson. He look for me like Anakin and Han a bit 😅
Holy shit it does
Orbital Snapshots imagine if it actually was,
Granpa
good casting then?
Also vader pulling a ship with ease and Rey is like Oh my god it's so hard
When Rey screamed Chewie I honestly burst out laughing in the cinema, oh fuck this film made me angry
The sound design in this movie is totally awesome
Actually really liked this scene. Using the force to pull a damn space ship and then seeing the electricity.
Reminds me of Xmen Dark Phoenix
@@SpaceAlley which was also a pretty bad movie
Yall ever heard of starkiller?
Except for the fact it breaks star wars canon and makes absolutely 0 sense
1:13 Kylo: How many microtransactions did Rey buy since the last movie?
I don't think my jaws have dropped harder ever in the cinema for a movie moment like this scene. It was EPIC experiencing it first hand.
Damn you all really here trying to destroy this fan lol!
chicken Chubbzzz He destroyed himself by watching a shit movie .
I Felt the same way when I saw this scene. It was amazing but also sad as I really thought Chewie died. I for one really like Rey and her struggles with herself. Don’t let these jackasses shame you for liking this movie
Jrizzy YT Seems like he's very much enjoying it and you're being an asshole like 99% of SW fans
Now Witness the power of Woke Side!
Fun fact: The explosion was really just the sound of the trilogy's spine breaking.
When you Realize Kylo Ren overall was more of a composed, dark side rejecting Force user than “Jedi” Rey.
Fin's entire character: REY! REY! REEEEEEY! REY! REY! AHHHHHH! REYYYYYYY!
Ikr what a wasted potential
Rey: "Chewieee"
Finn: "Meoww"
I wish more people talked about Kylo casually walking in the distance because to me its fucking hilarious
How
Yoda: lifts a falling pillar very hard
Rey: stops a spaceship very easily
Now I get why the old jedis lost
Yep, they didn't have lazy writers.
Well to be fair, it’s a bit more complex than that via the lore, BUT if we go movies only? The Sequels never had a chance to begin with 😂
in the official books, Yoda has stopped a star destroys from leaving orbit.
Yoda was also 900 years old and his fighting style takes a lot out of him, but yeah sure why not
I don't think that was "very easy"
“Nice shot”
“I was aiming for the other one”
Total Mary sue moment of course she can use Sith Lightning
It's super difficult to learn. We even see Yoda struggle with it in ROTS against the Emperor and then she just shoots it out like its nothing.
I think the lightning part makes sense but I can see why it wouldn’t for some
@@XDarkBrotherhoodHD because it’s an ability that takes a lot of training to develop? and because it’s supposed to be an ability only possessed by super powerful Sith Lords and this gal did it with zero training whatsoever?
@@cookiesafterwine5035 thats the thing tho, she didnt have to train to use it because she accidentally used it out of anger, she is a Palpatine as it is so her using that power isnt groundbreaking. I can see why youd have a problem with it I just dont agree
@@XDarkBrotherhoodHD lol she can’t use such anger and not fall into the dark side, it’s ridiculous. but if you’re up to swallowing whatever mediocre character Disney throws at you okay then.
i was honestly gonna walk out of the cinema if thats how Chewi Died XD
Me and my family laughed so hard because we couldn't believe Chewie went out like that xD that is, until we found out he was still alive.
Genessa R I just assumed because what they did to Han, Luke and said yep Chewi next, Leia was the only one I understand had to go like that and was a good way of her ending
@@dj-blue-j3214 Yeah it was.
Well in the old canon he died because a moon falls in him, but, idk what was more ridiculous
Same I got so pissed
When she screamed Chewie I really felt for her great acting in this scene
At least you aren’t belittling Disney or shitting on Daisy Ridley
@@Jackferrett6781 fuck disney
