It was a fantastic movie with a fantastic cast and a superbly fantastic soundtrack! Brian Blessed as usual, stole every scene he talked in! They could do a remake, but it would be hard to top the original!
Also I watched "Flash Gordon " the animated show from the early eighties on NBC , on what we call Saturday mornings cartoons too . But it would later come in handy when it to watching "Flash Gordon " movie .
Yes, you remember it right. We were blown away by Star Wars and then has to suffer years of terrible copycat films of dismal quality. Each time we would sit in the theater, hoping for another Star Wars experience. Hope, disappointment, hope disappointment. It finally arrived in the form of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ghostbusters and Back to the Future.
What happened to the animated movie would be a better question. ZERO American home releases, just random VHS releases in other countries and a laserdisc in Japan.
Klytus, I'm bored.... what pleasure can you offer me today? I loved this movie just as much, if not mor than, the first Star Wars flick as a kid. I was disappointed that we never got a sequel that was teased ar the end. I even bought the soundtrack album. Queen did a brilliant job on it. Even as an adult, decades later, the campy flick is still a guilty pleasure to watch and reminisce.
I remember when I watched it in the theater and I really didn’t get the cheesey nature of the the movie. I thought it was going to be more like Star Wars. However i do embrace the 🧀 of this movie, if they played it seriously it would have never worked.
TBH, I wasn't that impressed by the movie when I watched it for the first time in the last couple of years. I guess I can see the appeal in its campiness, but it just wasn't for me, I suppose.
Oh so cool this video is about Flash Gordon from the very beginning that spawned so much movies that it influenced and became a great success from it's much more thought out and ever more stories just from a simple idea from such story. Great video.
Would believe me , I told saw on then late night TV .Since as kid in the early eighthes I did notice that much , like there were big movies out the time , but once I saw "Flash Gordon " , well the movie hooks you in . And it so retro in it's effects even for the time it in , so I own the movie too . But my favourite part the movie is , when Flash flying the rocket towards the city . And the whole space bike is sweet too .
What happened to Flash? He became obsolete. The rocket looked nothing like one able to travel to another planet, the bad guys all resembled humans from crappy movies, the miniature sets were obviously miniature sets, all the women on all the planets wanted to boink Flash (typical super hero reaction), Zarkov was a stereotyped Jew, Ming a stereotyped Asian, the acting was W-O-O-D-E-N, plotting stupid (king of the hawkmen tries to entertain the woman he wants to rape with SHADOW PUPPETS), and how it became an accepted facorite is one gigantic mystery.
I loved 𝐹𝑙𝑎𝑠ℎ 𝐺𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑜𝑛. Of course, I was 11 years old, so my standards weren't the highest. However, having seen it since it was in the theaters, I still like it. Either I still have the standards of an 11 year old, or it is a good film. And I can assure everyone, I have higher standards now.
Ming's daughter was a babe
Played by Italian bombshell actress Ornella Muti! Melody Anderson played Dale Arden!
Yeah, absolutely stunning.
"GORDON'S ALIVE?!?!"
Alive!?
Alive!!!?
Now I’m going to have the theme song stuck in my head for weeks.
So epic.
It was a fantastic movie with a fantastic cast and a superbly fantastic soundtrack!
Brian Blessed as usual, stole every scene he talked in!
They could do a remake, but it would be hard to top the original!
If there is a remake, it would be too self-aware too much winking at the camera.
Flash a-ah. He saved every one of us.
Difficult to hear the word Flash without saying Aaa-aaah
Also I watched "Flash Gordon " the animated show from the early eighties on NBC , on what we call Saturday mornings cartoons too . But it would later come in handy when it to watching "Flash Gordon " movie .
WHAT THE F*CK HAPPENED WITH THE AUDIO AT 1:22?
I'm guessing the RUclips nazis blocked out perhaps a clip of the Queen music.
As a teenager I LOVED the pillow fight scene. 🥰
Jones is one of the nicest people to meet at a convention.
Yeah I did a bump with him... a fist bump
Yes he is🎉
It became a beloved classic to most. "Gordon's alive!"
What is with the sound?
rights likely the reason cannot play the title music
@@goodwood-rc4nxno, that’s not what he is referring to. The sound went in and out, up and down, randomly.
yeah -at 1:22 to 1:30 the sound drops out
We don't need updated versions and/or reboots this movie! It is a classic like Excalibur or Krull which will never be bested!
Flash! Flash, I Love You! But we only have Sixteen Hours to Save the World!
Von sydow was brilliant. And awesome he had fun doing it.
I remember going to see this at the cinema way back on Wednesday 24th December 1980 😊
Me too. I saw it several times at the theater, in fact.
Wtf happened to this audio?
Copyright lawyers.
The bigger question is what happened to Flesh Gordon
this is gonna need a reupload. with a good amount of the main cast still alive, I don't think some kind of followup would be a bad idea if done right.

Fix you video. Sound cuts out
Because Queen.
Because the surviving members. Or ip owning recording company. Freddie would have been ok with it.
Oh I thought it's my headphones.
I was about to mention that. I registered two audio drops.
Queen are notorious about blocking anything with their music. I hate the attitude
What happened to the animated movie would be a better question. ZERO American home releases, just random VHS releases in other countries and a laserdisc in Japan.
Flash Gordon or the prequel to Ted
Also the best OST with Queen
Sorry, have to go with Highlander for best Queen OST.
@@randocasshatian5677 And Michael Kamen!
This is a Movie… it’s entertaining and 100% worth the overpriced Popcorn ❤️
Audio cuts out between 1:23 - 1:33 bro
Flaash... Aaahhh...
saw this in the movie theater
Man I love this movie!!! ❤
What do you mean, Flash Gordon aproaching?
Audio removed due to copyright strike?
my favorite "bad movie." Those costumes! The sets! Killer soundtrack.
Great episode!

Modern Flash...... Gordon Freeman.
Someone didn't get the rights to Queen songs
how many times did I have to rewind lol 😅

Editing fail
"This Ming is a psycho"
I didn't know this was a real movie I thought it was something made up by Ted 😆
Not to be confused with Flesh Gordon !!
sound is fucked up at 1:22
I had a crush on Ming’s daughter.
It's already on 4K. So there's another 4K transfer and master coming?
1979 cartoon series from Filmation was great.
This movie is just simply 80s cheese. Its a shame what happened
It was cheesy goodness! A bit too self contained for sequels, though
So Dune has no influence over Star Wars?
TBH, I wasn't that impressed by the movie when I watched it for the first time in the last couple of years. I guess I can see the appeal in its campiness, but it just wasn't for me, I suppose.
It's really an idea best expressed in a short hard rock song than a full movie. There's a reason why the Queen song gets more play than the movie.
Queen went full Hall & Oates on you "Nooo, no can do." 🎶 🎵
Oh so cool this video is about Flash Gordon from the very beginning that spawned so much movies that it influenced and became a great success from it's much more thought out and ever more stories just from a simple idea from such story. Great video.
Was that English?
Coolest theme song ever. Thank you Freddie Mercury ❤
It was actually written by Queen's guitarist, Brian May. Not Freddie Mercury.
Saw this movie dozens of times on showtime and hbo in the 80s
Dolly had braces
and a beautiful rack; they couldn't erase that!
That's what's wrong with Hollywood today... why do we need a remake? This was a perfect (IMO) movie. Get on with yourselfs!

Can you repeat that in English please?
Flash Gordon..You wont mind remember this movie..:)
You should make playlist for every WTF
Huh?

I agree with you. I still love everything about this movie! Those who don't, can kick rocks.
