I think you should be careful don't ask people on street about the exchange place but probably go in the any bank and ask them whether they deal with it
South Africa is a safe and free place but word of advice, don't walk on short cuts or where there are not a lot of people.. For accurate directions ask only the security guards..
Just a note, South Africa is not a walkable country. Everything is far apart similar to the USA NOT like Europe. When we say 5 mins, we mean by car not walking. As you can see, there aren't a lot of people walking and there are taxi's, trains, buses, Uber, Bolts etc for people who don't have their own cars. The train is faster than driving so try the Gautrain. Also, we don't use a lot of cash here. We pay using cards and Apps. Most places accept European cards, but check first and carry cash just incase your card isn't accepted (mostly in the smaller stores). Some Uber drivers won't even come if you select cash payment.
Lol he meant 3-5 minutes driving 😂. In any event, great exercise for you. I’m so chuffed to see you on my stomping ground! I can’t get enough of SA. It’s so vast and sooooooo full of beauty. If you’re not staying long, you’ll be back over and over to explore.
Exactly tell him. South Africa is not like in the UK where people don't greet each other even in most offices meaning work. When you greet some of your work colleagues especially some Whites just look at you and not respond.
People love to hang around malls here , because you can take your laptop to a restaurant and do some work there , security is tight , food nearby, banks , cinemas. And see beautiful people around. Don't be surprised if people suggest that you visit a dozen malls .
I love seeing my country through a fresh set of eyes, it's so interesting. A few tips, 1. Uber, don't walk - it's not worth the risk 2. Don't discuss anything to do with money on your content or with strangers on the street 3. Be vigilant, you're on holiday, but becareful not to let tour guard down 4. Keep engaging with our amazing people. South African's are so kind and full of fun. Enjoy your stay and welcome ❤❤
Great content! So Johannesburg is the 3rd highest city in Africa so the UV rays can cause harm if you have sensitive skin, that is why you will see some people walking around with umbrellas. Also walking is harder if you are not used to the higher elevation. I am sure you will get use to it after a few weeks.
You should've just gotten an uber,Sandton is not walkable, you have to drive if you don't wanna take forever to get to where you I wanna be,also you should've gone to Sandton City Mall,it's a much bigger and better mall with all the currency exchange you need.
The guys on those Min bus(taxi) asked if you can add him on the vedeo or camera more like just being nice and make you laugh if you understand Zulu language ,he was being nice ,
Nice one my man . If you have questions we are here . I think the young man was right . The lady you asked about food ,is clueless. Take note that most people are new to that area , or go straight to work and go home . Keep your head on a swivel , ask about dodgy places at night stay out . Stay safe .
Try to find out where you can get a better deal . They charged you R 950 rands . That is a five day worth of groceries. We do have digital means , if they are cheaper to use , use them . The young generation hardly carries cash here .
Combine with Menlyn Maine if you're going that side. But also please note that if you're walking around there, there is Alot of petty theft. Please be careful and make sure your phone is backed up if you're going to have it out to vlog. If you're looking for a nice little place to have a walk and get some good food, uber over to Hazelwood. It's not far from Menlyn, but I don't suggest walking. It's great that you're confident enough to walk around so freely, and thank you for the positive press, but do be vigilant out on our streets. We are a very friendly culture, but sadly alot of people resort to crime for either food or drugs. Hope you enjoy your time here, welcome to our amazing country❤ Oh, and in JHB check out Jan Smuts Ave (some galleries and restaurants)
It is beautiful here but please be very careful. Mind where you put your phone and your money and where you can use Uber use Uber. Sandton is generally safe though. You can also just use your Visa or Mastercard safer than cash.
Whoever initially gave u directions shud have just pointed u to Sandton City. From where ur video started, u were closer to Sandton City - u walked all the way down Grayston Drive and then back up....
Bad directions. Looks like the initial directions were to Sandton City mall, the big mall and the fruit guy on the street just sent you to a small centre . Then the car guard sends you to a totally different shopping centre Benmore which is even further😂😂. You were supposed to go to Sandton City
Hope u dont get knocked, those guys drive like fast &furious when the lights go green... Hope youre enjoying the day time load shedding... Mall wise, stick to sandton city mall, your one stop centre..... Weather, is good, not hot at all like here in Kampala. .. Car wise, i saw loads of lambo uruses, they are as many as harriers of kampala
That "no matter what you do keep goin straight" is very important. There are a lot of husslers that will try to take advantage since u dont know the area.
Yea bro dont forget to greet bwfore entering convo, ghe taxi when they stick out an index finger then the customer would reoly by doing the same gesture then the taxi stop and u hop on ,
The first direction he had been given was to Sandton City I think. The fruit guy then redirected him to a shopping centre on Grayston drive, then car guard and the school kids sent him far to Benmore Gardens on Grayston. Poor guy walked for so long😂😂. But soon he will learn not to just anyone and to be very specific the kind of mall he wants. Also should be careful on befriending everyone and talking forever etc
Every time you ask strangers about exchanging money my cringe and alarm buttons shoot bright red👀🤯🙆🏽♀️🙆🏽♀️Hope the rest of your visit continues to be awesome. 🙆🏽♀️
Use an uber to go shopping. Plus it's safer inside the mall, not the streets. And don't ask questions that involve money in the streets. I don't want you to get hurt.
The problem with sprawling cities and suburbs is that they are not walkable and kinda kill the vibes. Some organised chaos makes a place lively. I don't understand the fun of hanging out in the malls. Reminds me much about sprawling Australian cities, developed, clean but with little vibe.
🇿🇦 Joberg is not as walkable as CapeTown & I would not discuss money issues too often! 🤐♥️ 🇿🇦🇿🇦 Joberg would be more of your Atlanta or New York than Miami. Cape Town would be more of a Miami vibe. 🌴
Tyme, one thing I learned from visiting Africa is when they tell you 5 mins walk just go ahead and catch a taxi or uber because it's going to be a good 20 mins away LOL
You visited the whole continent???? Africa has countries, it's better you specify where you were since we are 54 countries with difference on everything.
Hello guys, kindly subscribe and like the video. Thank you all.
I think you should be careful don't ask people on street about the exchange place but probably go in the any bank and ask them whether they deal with it

I like your positivity on SA... It's really safe hey
Safe is not an accurate description but it is beautiful and free yes.
60 people killed per day and you call that safe country?
Just a note, South Africa is not a walkable country. Everything is far apart similar to the USA NOT like Europe. When we say 5 mins, we mean by car not walking. brave man walking with his pone out like that in Jozi. This ain London bruv, be safe and be smart!
We do use cash alot
South Africa is a walkable country depending on where you are. People dnt walk in the suburbs because the suburbs are built around cars not walking
I'm guessing you only grew up in jozi
South Africa or do you mean in Jozi?, there are walkable places in other provinces.
I’ll definitely be back here 💯
It has the potential to become my favourite destination.
Yeah the gent assumed you were driving
I'm South Africa we exchange greetings first before anything else. We don't just into conversations
That's what he did though..
Exactly tell him. South Africa is not like in the UK where people don't greet each other even in most offices meaning work. When you greet some of your work colleagues especially some Whites just look at you and not respond.
He said Dumelang

I was thinking the same thing the whole time.
The guys on those Min bus(taxi) asked if you can add him on the vedeo or camera more like just being nice and make you laugh if you understand Zulu language ,he was being nice ,
Rule no.1 don’t walk around with a phone on your hand😹😹😹
Why

That part. I am cringing watching the video...
They grab and run, driving an expensive car

My boy having a blast! We’re happy for it
When traveling by local taxi in SA you point up with the index finger 👆🏾to indicate to the driver that you want to travel towards Joburg CBD
He thought you were driving. In SA people don't walk that much hence you don't see a lot of people on the streets.
Have you been to the CBD 😂
@@OliverNorthZA not that kinda walking 😂😂 I mean long distances, in CBD it's just short distance walks.
Try to find out where you can get a better deal . They charged you R 950 rands . That is a five day worth of groceries. We do have digital means , if they are cheaper to use , use them . The young generation hardly carries cash here .
Sawubona welcome to SA, I was in Uganda a few weeks ago. Hope you enjoy Joburg shout if you want to see Soweto.

Welcome first tym I.saw u with nicoline in uganda
Good stuff, do more cities. There's alot of them in SA
Do not Forget to take the red city sightseeing bus in Rosebank. It will show you a number of key spots of the city in a short time.
You can actually just stick your card in an ATM and make a withdrawal and you’ll get money in local currency.
There is a place called perere in Sandton that sells traditional food
Careful. They snatch phones
Welcome to SA brother try Sandton city mall and Rosebank mall..
Thank you.

Welcome to South Africa❤. Just for future references, don't showcase your bank balance😂

Its safe
Wouldnt recommend that given the state of the water infrastructure
Not everywhere
South Africa is so beautiful
Hello welcome to South Africa if there point a finger up the tax is going to Johannesburg CBD watching you from South Africa Fourways
That "no matter what you do keep goin straight" is very important. There are a lot of husslers that will try to take advantage since u dont know the area.

The cars are clean? What did you expect? 😳
The guy who said 4 minutes meant with a car. He assumed you were driving.
Welcome southAfrica,good flog guy
Thank you.
Wow this is good😊
I was wondering why no one directed you to Sandton City Mall - one of the largest malls around Joburg. Enjoy your stay in Joburg.
Still early days, he'll see it. Patience 😊
The first direction he had been given was to Sandton City I think. Dumela and taxi sign is for downtown
Come to cape town
I will visit in the future 💯
Great Vlog✨🤝
Thank you.
The sign means, are you going to town? 😂😂😂 Those are our taxis.
Use an uber to go shopping. Plus it's safer inside the mall, not the streets. And don't ask questions that involve money in the streets. I don't want you to get hurt.
Just a word of caution...don't tell people you're going to get money.
Hi in SA we stop our taxis using finger signs 😂 that finger means Town
I could never walk to Benmore from there bud, the steep slope there is not nice
He must not have seen the potholes in Sandton
Lol the guy was asking if u can also record him with ur camera
Hope u managed to get the guy that was waiting for u out to show u to the restaurant 😊

Where are you off to alone in the quiet street of Jozi? Be careful. I would understand if you were that free inside the malls. Thank you
Welcome to SA bru
Thank you
Tyme, one thing I learned from visiting Africa is when they tell you 5 mins walk just go ahead and catch a taxi or uber because it's going to be a good 20 mins away LOL
Lesson learned 😊
That man definitely meant 5 minutes drive… you don’t walk in jozi period
You visited the whole continent???? Africa has countries, it's better you specify where you were since we are 54 countries with difference on everything.
I so aware of that talk 5 minutes is only good for south African when they so you direction so that you won't get impatient during you strolling
SA is a unique country and we are authentic ,not trying to be Miami, lets not compare
Your welcome my brothers even 🇰🇪 is a better country myabe they ranked top 5 _6 bravo love from Pretoria
Be safe pls🙏
why dont you use a gps map on your phone?
Marha na wena! Why didn’t you use Google Maps??
Dunno why they didn't tell you to go to sandton. Take an uber to sandton
5 minutes by car. And you were not far from The Mark mall, it has everything you need.
jo,burg is great.
Welcome, where you from? You have Ghana Nigerian accent
That was some long walk to the mall 😂😂😂😂
Good video
Thank you.
