Food prices are almost the same everywhere, the only difference is what shop you use (eg Checkers or Woolworths). So Woolworths in Soweto costs about the same as the one in Sandton.
One thing I LOVED about Woolworths is the way that employees will stop what they are doing and walk you exactly to what you are looking for. At one point, we had three people helping us find Parmesan cheese!! One lady pushed our cart helping us find gluten free items!
Tyme my guy it really depend on the stores,,we got pick n pay & Checkers & Spar those are cheaper than Woolies... You are in the upper class so the price is been fix on that.. Even your staycation it's more compering to the other side of Joburg.. just know this things..& know coast of living in Joburg is cheaper than Cape Town..❤❤
He went to the more expensive shop. Woolworths is for a higher income bracket. Checker, Spar and Pick and Pay i would say are a better representation of the cost of living. I hope you enjoyed your stay in SA❤❤❤❤😊😊
Hi there please don't forget to let Europeans know that prices you see on isles are exactly what you are going to pay nothing will be added when you reach the counter
Food in South Africa is very very cheap You can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast for $6 usd in a franchise restaurant You can purchase groceries for a week with 10 Usd
Mate sorry your idea is good and well, we don't say "Rands" its called "RAND". Twenty Rand, Fifty Rand, and a Hundred RAND. Thanks for your movie. Enjoy our beautiful country. I, myself are out of the country currently.
It's the same as US dollar but when it's plural Americans and many other will add an "s" which is more than one it's a western culture thing even though Africa says Rand no matter the amount. Kinda of like Africans saying " eeh" or Canadian saying " A" is a culture thing.
For the record... Only monied people shop at Woolworths!!! So those are not run-of-the-mill prices...Woolworths is top-end... They charge 30% more for a loaf of bread!!!!!!!!!!!!

Compared to other African countries like Kenya, SA is a bit more expensive but a bit cheaper than in continental Europe. Wine and grapes are really cheap but that's their big local business.
When's your visa expiring? I'd honestly stay ahead of it and leave now to avoid any issues at the last moment if I were you. Home affairs can be difficult.
I have been to SA a few times in the past years.. Compared to the U.S., supermarket prices are at least 25 percent less in general.. There are products in SA that are just as expensive as the U.S. Chocolate, ice cream, butter, some fruits, etc, etc, are actually more expensive in SA. I saw many in SA making very selective at what they were purchasing... It's a difficult time in the world with all the inflation.
I didn't watch the entire video.. It's hard to believe that a pound of grapes is 10 rand.. When I was there last 6 months ago, I paid like 35 rand for a pound..

My guy, Watch the video called A TOURIST TOOK THE WRONG TURN IN SA. besides parts of Randburg....which areas would you suggest this tourist should stay away from???
We do not use $ here, we use R ( Rands). So R10 is equivalent to $0.53 at today's exchange rate. The normal price of those grapes he was looking at is R52.99c that is $2.79 US. This might help you make a realistic comparison 😉
@@mhlave2440 ...I don't care simply just coz Woolworth are owned by whites u can't shout Dudula nonsense but if it was owned by an African u would b all over here yapping... south Africa pipoos need to b colonised again
Not $10, we use Rand. It's not R10 for a punnet either, it's R50 (about US$2,60), and if you buy two, you 'save' R10, so two punnets for R90 (about US$4,70). It's a marketing thing. Always read carefully! And I think it said 500 grams, we only use metric measurements.
