Probably because of all the effort being wasted when it isn't done right? Dry fitting parts isn't smart move, even some grease would be better than nothing on the main bearings They fitted new Lanchester shafts and bearings, looks like they guessed at timing though?
Working were they are this works for them! If you did this where I worked we would run you out the door! The cam bearing in front oil holes go parallel to the bottom of cyl. block! They put the front support bushing back on and it is worn out, should not just slide on! No one pulled the oil galley plugs to clean the main oil galley, so how much shit is in that bore? Sorry, but glad it works for them!! Like the piston ring compressor though! Some one took an old liner and tapered it, got lots of those!
I had job title of 'Site Service Engineer' for several years, those conditions could be a lot worse. At least they don't have to carry a shovel to dig things out of snowbanks. All in all though, it was a lot of fun most of the time but I didn't like the driving so much (around 75,000 miles a year before even starting work)

I was really impressed when the boss-in-blue showed up for the technical parts, especially the (500 mile warranty) valve-job at the 11th minute. I could write a book about the incredible pre-lube job that WASN'T done on this sad engine. But these guys have children to feed, and they are only doing what they're told to do. I have only one comment: they're doing an amazing job, but they need to learn about sequential tightening of head bolts or crank shaft bearings. Anyways: hat's off to these guys!!!.
Why???? you see it runs well... We are way to precise.... This works remarkably good as you see, and it probably wil work fine for years,,, Its not to our standarts, But it works there! lol
they are also in need of a torque wrench, crazy to see them tightening down all the bottom and top end and going that feels about right. combine the 2 and you know these guys have had at least one of their engines fail due to a bolt coming loose and causing havoc.
Всё очень и очень грубо. Блоки хоть и чугунные но они имеют хрупкость. Это не сталь. Если есть станки токарные то можно сделать резьбовой съемник а не кувалдой молотить. Я понимаю что подход хотя бы сделать но это надо делать аккуратно так как двигатель испытывает на себе колосальные нагрузки и если есть небольшое смещение оно даст о себе знать с последствиями. А по гильзе колотить кувалдой в чугунном блоке тоже самое что и ударить кувалдой по блоку и микротрещин не избежать а это тоже даёт о себе знать о разрушении блока.
Valves were ground, good. But then taken out and all mixed up. Totally wrong. Surfaces cleaned, good. But using inappropriate scrapers and sand. Bad. Not a single feeler gauge or micrometer used. Cylinders not honed. Seals hammered in. Flywheel bolts torqued to two-grunts. Every part slammed onto the ground as often as possible. Dodgy as heck.
9 months that's how long that engine will last before it either rattles itself loose or snaps internals. Torque figures and lube specifications aren't just pretty numbers. That and as mentioned in the comments no lube on the journals/bearing etc
Yeah a torque wrench wouldn’t go amiss. Saves that annoying knock that’ll have after less than 50 hours on her. But hey that’s how they always got work rebuilding em 😅✌️🇬🇧

Hello Amazing. Sure hope the fly wheel bolts need 200 ft lbs, because they got it. Would have been nice to see the crank bearing surfaces lubed, most others were. That nuclear waste poured into the coolant passages to loosen the cyl liners was nasty. It worked though. Kinda horrifying to see it wind up on the ground. Better hope you guys are immune to all the evil chemicals in that dirt. Scary stuff. Looks like that engine will work for years more, you got it done. Not pretty but good job anyway. Good luck.
My car mechanic here in santa cruz, ca, graduated from the streets of Karachi. He owns a Goodyear franchise now, almost never a bay free for too long, pays $6,000 / month rent for the building.
Little children have no place in doing that kind of work but rather should be in school. A good country would take care of its people and make sure that all children receive a good education. This is not right.
This is fascinating. The workman/journeyman/apprentice system working flawlessly. This kid will have a better paying job in the years to come, then he could ever know about now.
we may say that their technique is crude. but they did the job and people keep sending those engines to overhaul to them. that means is a job well done. congratulations. with only simple tools, they managed to do the overhaul. and it runs great.

Give those young guys some proper tools and equipment I bet they fit in just fine over here. I’ve done what they are doing in the bush many times in the northern Canadian wilderness no options up there either a lot of the time.
It would be cheaper to fly them out to have them rebuild an engine in your garage and they would even bring there own tools with 1 bag and be entertaining to watch then flybtjem back

Some of the best so called pro rebuilders of engines and trannys in USA have a 15% + failure rate, even with clean conditions. So go figure.

На шляпу себе сразу песка насыпь. Моторы ходят с килограммами говна в поддоне. Нуда, тряпочкой вкладыши новые тереть не стоит, в остальном пойдет
