This channel is my comfort place. You explain everything so beautifully. You helped me to understand my own identity in the aroace spectrum better. Thank you for all your work and for creating this channel🫶
This is really neat! There are so many misconceptions out there about us Aromantic folk (and Aroaces like myself), so to see videos like this one that answer questions people have and help others understand the orientation is amazing ^^
I recently got into a QPR and oh my gosh is it so much more comfy than I could ever imagine a relationship being. Thank you so much for the videos, they have helped me gain insights to my own identity and helped me explain my aroace experience to others (especially to my now partner because they also didn't think about their identity in this way before either haha). The videos have helped me gain a much better understanding of myself and consequently allowed for such a wonderful thing to grow, so I wanted to say thank you
I would add that the dating and kissing questions relate not only to the aro spectrum, but also to the split attraction model. Someone who is aro but not ace might do those things with someone they are potentially sexually attracted to, but without seeking a romantic aspect to the relationship.
I too prefer the aro flag to the ace flag, but then green is my favourite colour. 😄 Getting married for tax purposes the only way I see it happening to me, so i definitely relate to that. Also, your QPR intimacy with each other is peak relationship goals for me. 😊
:0 what a lovely channel here! ima use this channel as a learning space! im QUESTIONING gray-sexual but ima to as much research as i can before confirming it :D or acespike one of them two but ima do research before confirming. also, can you explain what a space-ace is?
Why is there the Q in QPR? Couldn't it simply be platonic relationship? By all definitions, I am in a QPR, but we don't use that word. Is it simply because it's queer people in a platonic relationship? And if, say, it was two straight people who had a deep relationship and took care of each other and supported each other in a non-romantic way, it would just be a platonic relationship?
A platonic relationship is basically a friendship, while a QPR is sort of in between a friendship and romantic relationship. It's considered queer since it deviates from the norm. Spacey Aces has a whole video about QPRs which answers this better than I can
To add to@LeftyLlama, “platonic relationships” refer to any friendship. “Queerplatonic” is specifically for describing a uniquely intimate form of platonic relationship; sometimes it will take on romantic elements or familial elements or sexual elements, etc. The “queer” in queerplatonic isn’t about the orientations of the people involved, it’s about the queer nature of the relationship which does not fit in with other forms of partnerships. It is a particularly relevant term in the aromantic community because of the importance or non-importance of many aros to be either “partnering” or “non partnering.”. many of those in QPRs are “partnering.” That said, we do have a few videos specifically about QPRs if you want more info. 😊
@@SpaceyAces ahhh spelling out queerplatonic as one word makes it all make sense now! 😀 I thought it was both queer and platonic, not a uniquely queerplatonic thing
I also like the term alterous relationship! I don’t want my relationship to be platonic neither do I want it to be romantic and alterous is just such a perfect term to describe that for me personally:))
Honestly, I'm kind of jealous of the ace flag because purple is my favorite color. But I like green too, so I guess it's OK. What I'm really upset about is that the aces claimed both cake and garlic bread. Are there any carbs that are uniquely associated with aros? I'm trying to focus on the important questions here.
Personally, I think we should claim donuts, just because why not? If I'm going to love something, a donut seems like a pretty good choice. And also something that could be considered aromatic (because thanks, autocorrect), like maybe spice cookies.
This channel help my questioning aro self, i still feel a little bit unsure if im aro (I've been single my whole young life anyways, also romace seems the same as friendship lol). But then again, i guess it makes sense and i like the relationships with my best friends :D
Allo people are annoying. Apparently you can't have squishes because that's still an attraction. It doesn't matter if it's platonic, queerplatonic or aesthetic attraction. It's still attraction. Also you're not allowed to have qprs because of the word relationship at the end. So apparently, I'm a poser and not really Aro.
Don't say that, poser is not the right way to think, Allo people think that because they feel love in differently way, it's hard to explain feelings, especially those in the moment. It's easy for them to determine the feeling of romantic love, for us it's difficult to distinguish between romantic and platonic, seem disconnected in some way, feels like I more precisely want to have platonic/family relationships more than anything else, the feeling of romance is not identifiable
@@glorydragon2597 apparently Unhook calls them annotations so I didn't realize they were disabled (I think Unhook must have only added that toggle recently) also apparently you have to refresh the page for some Unhook toggles to apply, but not all of them

I suppose I’m biased too 💚💚💚, haha.
My other reason besides tax reasons is that it might be really funny to get married and that seems like a good reason.
Thank you for this video, really informative
Could you make a video on how to tell someone you have a queer platonic crush on them?

Pies maybe? Peaches? Watermelon? Watermelon is in my flag (Abrosexual)
Given the fixation on arrow symbols and puns, could plant the flag on arrowroot and derived foods (like cookies)
