      fabulous50s so I get the importance of the barrier cream but can we finish with a tiny dabbing of oil after the cream? I like to finish with cacay oil just pressing it into the skin

      Absolutely Julie. I also like to mix one of my favourite oils (coconut) into my barrier cream to add a bit of richness. But after will work well too.

      Hi Donna. I would suggest using a serum or mask twice a week with the ingredient "Salicylic Acid" in it. Salicylic acid has the amazing ability to dissolve through the oil and dead skin cells that clog our pores.

    He's right!!! I just started doing chemical peels with an esthetician every 6 wks and the first thing she helped me w was chosing a moisturizer w 50 spf (i like the tinted kind so i replaced my foundation w it) then i got a good soft cleanser, antioxidant oil with vitamin C and E for my face, and a thick eye cream, and moisturizer for night time..and in 18 wks my face looks 5 yrs younger!!! I've noticed a huge diff!!!

    Hi, I'm the 50 ++ lady and a former esthetician. I have used most of these products for the last 20 years and I am still learning. I am very impressed with Will Fennell as a skin care expert and of course you do a fabulous interview. I love the way you gather information. If anything came out of this Pandemic, I found you, Shelle and love everyone of your Utube exercise sand self help videos. I would also like to add that Shea Butter is a wonderful ingredient that is absorbed into the skin. There are several creams that contain shea butter that can be seen on the ingredient label. Because I have mature skin, have to be careful using foundations and tinted moisturizers. so I put a drop of Neova SQUALANE while applying in my foundations for softness. Thank you again!

    I’m 50 and have been using DHC’s cleansing olive oil for years. I ran out once and ran to Walgreen’s and found Albolene makeup remover and that’s good too, plus it’s cheaper. I use Organic rosehip oil which is a natural retin A. Mad Hippie is also a good brand for those of us looking for non-toxic skincare.- Also, regardless of brand, excessive washing/tugging is not good for our skin. If I take a shower, do a good skin care regime and stay home without wearing makeup, I don’t wash again when I go to bed. Even gentle, organic, non-toxic cleansers can be used too much. Thank you for your video! You are beautiful!

    I just discovered your channel. I’m a few years shy of 50 & I have oily skin. My mom is in her late 70’s & has oily skin and she looks much younger than her age with hardly any wrinkles. All she does is cleanse & use a moisturizer. She has never used Retinol. However she has never suntanned in her life & avoids the sun when possible. I’m hoping I have her genes but I did suntan excessively but no longer do that. I do use medical grade anti aging products and actually my skin is pretty good in spite of all the sun I got sun bathing. You are so pretty! Glad I found your channel! ♥️

    My fav cosmetic specialist on here recommended that I spray my face periodically during the day with just rose water and veg. glycerine, and that has really helped. So does a layer of petroleum jelly on my face all night. wow..never would have thought that would do a thing or be good for it, but it seems to be a HUGE help. ???? What do you think of this program? I use other things as well as far as oils and sun screen, but this does seem to help a lot.

    He knows what he is talking about, and I tell you why. Long ago I had to see dermatologist in Berlin to get rid of ugly sun and pregnancy freckles. He treated me with mainly acid to get rid of them, not laser which in my case can cause a disaster result, and he told me to use Avène gentle soap cleansing gel, to wash my face every night, because all the other foam aggressive soaps are just no good for my skin. I have been using Avène for over 20 years.

    I only use all natural stuff on my skin but mostly go make up free. I use oil on my skin after washing up. Once in a while I use a natural lip gloss that has some color. My skin is really a good color, not any spots on my arms or body. I do have some broken blood vessels on my legs but those can be covered easily with a good cover that matches your skin shade.

I am told it goes first and use nothing else....then I hear to use a moisturizer, wait an hour then use retin a. I have been washing my face, wait 1 hour, put the retin a on, wait an hour and then use matrixyl synth 6 and a moisturizer. I have noticed a lot of new broken capillaries you spoke of. Great information!! Thank you so much. It’s good to know I’m on the right track. When I first ventured into anti-aging skincare, my skin would get angry with me and produce surface capillaries. When I asked my dermatologist and other skincare experts about it, I was told skincare cannot cause this reaction. The capillaries must be zapped to get rid of them. I thought maybe my skin was unusual because I knew the cause and how to repair it-and zapping it was not necessary.

      I made a scrub like that as well but I added a little extra virgin olive oil...and yes your skin does have a nice glow after use. I use it once a week.
      I have been using a face cleansing butter,The Body Shop, Camomile cleansing butter, it’s very gentle and it does remove all of the makeup if I have any on plus you can feel it remove the RetinA. I am 52 and use a prescribed RetinA, I have been using a lot of products with the ingredients that was mentioned in this video.... and my skin is happier for it. The capillaries I have around my nose hasn’t gone away or even dismissed...I have allergies..so blowing my nose I guess,is why they haven’t disappeared... have a great day people..❤️🇨🇦🤗.

    • @willfennell3101
      @willfennell3101 6 лет назад +5

      Hi Kim. Yes, a barrier cream is a "moisturiser" as long as it just has moisturising and protecting ingredients in it and not lots of "ACTIVES" like vitamin A and C etc. that can cause irritation. Add them after your skin is on track in a serum.

    Hi first time viewer, great video. Question I use Retin A at night 3//4 nights a week should I put a barrier cream over it I saw on You Tube to just put it on and go to bed? Also are Medical Grade products are the ones you must use at age 50 so they will go deeper into the skin? Thank you 😊

      @fabulous50s  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Judi and a warm welcome to fabulous50s! I'm happy you are here...Yes, I put a barrier cream over my retin A to reduce the flaking...Medical grade is not. a must, as Will said start slow and work your way up...Medical grade will be more effective because of the higher concentrations used...Have an amazing week 💕

    Thank you for the glycerin recipe. My mom is 60 and swears by AHA because she can’t use Retin A or Retinols. Is AHA as good? Her skin looks fantastic but I think it’s genetics 🧬 which I’m hoping I inherited. But I’m interested if AHA's can replace Retin A. Thank you if you can answer 🌹

      Oil cleansing is wonderful! I massage an oil cleanser onto my dry face and the use a bit of water to rinse and then a very soft cloth in tepid water to remove the oil and all my make up comes off (I use an oil makeup remover on the eyes too), using the soft cloth you can see what comes off, then I use a gentle cream cleanser to do a quick rinse off. My skin loves it and I don't peel or flake using .1% Retin-A for years now.

      Hi Kristina. I LOVE microdermabrasion for mature skin. As we get older the very outside layer of the skin has a harder time falling off, so often it sits there making the skin look dull (and old). Microderm is a fantastic way to resurface the skin and make it more radiant. Straight after the treatment remember to help the skin get back to its balance with your barrier cream.

    Firstly, great video! I am 52, a blue eyed redhead (second only to an albino apparently) and have been told by a doctor that I have rosacea. I have red areas of broken capillaries and the odd red bumps that look like they are going to be a pimple but never develop into one. I like the keep it simple idea but do you have any specific advice for rosacea?

    • @willfennell3101
      @willfennell3101 6 лет назад +4

      Hi Arlene. I have been a skin therapist for over 20 years and I will admit rosacea still baffles me as each case is so entirely different. Keeping the barrier nice and healthy is paramount with rosacea so the skin can help itself, but I have also had great results using serums with the following ingredients - so look for these. First is a peptide specifically created for this condition called "Teleangyn", this wonderful ingredient helps prevents the inflammation and also Rutin, that helps strengthen the vascular network. Goodluck :)

    I been combination skin type for years, will it change now one is in 50’s?
    Since this is for face, what of whole skin-body? (At the moment liking 1-2x a week dry body-brush-exfoliation before showering mainly soap less (cept for armpit n obvious); then touch-dry; layer on mixture of creams n Shae butter; then Vaseline to seal it all in. Just a little side-extra if help anyone.
