I’m 46 and my skincare is very basic: wash my face with water only in the morning, apply Fitglow Beauty day essence, Pacifica vegan ceramide eye cream and sunscreen. Use a cleansing oil at night and use the vitamin C serum from Fitglow Beauty or the Herbivore prism exfoliating glow serum and that’s it!
It seems to work well as I get a lot of compliments on how youthful my skin looks even though I have some fine lines

I’m going to stick with your old recommendations since they worked so brilliantly for me. Retrinal skin and eyes-almost completely got rid of the very dark circles under my eyes, and really evened out my skin tone. One of your Vitamin C with ferulic acid recommendations had visible improvement in my spots in 3 days, and really, really helped. Goes to show, everyone is different, and with a little trial and error, you can find something that works for you. Thank you, Doctor, for your videos and wonderful recommendations!

Been watching other videos, trying for a few years now, and feel like I haven't been able to get it right. After discovering your videos, I understand much better how to build my routine. So thank-you. I do have a question though. Is it true that moisturizing products should be applied to damp skin and actives to dry skin? If that is true, then how do you apply a product that has both. Like the Vit C moisturizer. Would that go on damp or dry skin?

Unfortunately, my skin reaction after first time using it was pretty terrifying. My whole face was swollen, it was badly irritated, red, just really bad I think it took me about 10days to calm it down so sadly it didn't work for me. She is a dermatologist it’s her job to keep trying and recommending different products all the time. Vitamin C is good in the morning for many people and has the most benefits. If it is working for you keep using it. If it is not or you see vitamin c is causing irritation this is a good alternative. Vitamin C has more studies behind it and is one of the most potent antioxidants though so it is preferred. Hope this helps.

I read vitamin c can react for example with sodium benzoate and create benzene wich is known to be carcinogen (dont know if it is the same with alkyl benzoate also). Those ingredients are in most sunscreens. I don't know if this information is something to be concerned about but i am worried.

I ditched Vitamin C some time ago, because despite storing in cool place I could never use it up before it went “bad”. As for new products you’ve suggested, they certainly can’t be labeled “budget”. That’s what I normally love your videos for - truly suggesting budget alternatives.

I've just discovered this channel and the budget dermatologist and I've really been enjoying all the advice, really useful and informative. What I'm having a hard time with is that a lot of the recommended products are not budget drug store brands. Some are I agree, but a lot are not. $76 for a serum is not budget friendly, or $41 for a cleanser, again, I could never justify paying that.

She has tons of budget friendly options/ alternative products she's tested that she recommends when you don't want to spend more for costly products. Watch more videos and look at links. The bulk are budget friendly! And rem, anything too cheap that you shop for in-store or online, is going to be a cheap quality!

Fiona, where there's a will there's a way. Looks for the specific ingredients she mentions. None of this is written in stone. It's what's best for you AND your budget. I agree it's tough because these are products that you replace frequently but you can try cutting cost in some areas so you can splurge on others, streamline some products (combining them basically like she suggests) as well as looking for generic options of some of the super popular products. Good look dear. ♥

I cannot use retinals, retinoids, or vitamin A on my face, since those products are harmful to my seventy-year-old eyes. Which are plagued by ocular rosacea and dry eye disease. Since I have dry, wrinkled, and sun-damaged skin, I'd love to find an eye-safe product for these concerns. Would the Bakuchiol be a safe alternative to retin A type products?

I find no issue with Vitamin C serum & have always had extremely sensitive skin since birth. I could not use soap as a child with out huge rashes all over my body. Maybe it is how I apply it? I wash my face and occasionally add rosewater fist, then to a wet face, add hyaluronic acid to a wet face, neck and chest. Add vitamin C, then, retinol. After that either jojoba or, evening primrose, or Greek oil skin remedy. Then aloe vera, moisture boost, face cream depending on if it is day or night. After that, add Ponds Dry Skin Cream (I have used it since I was a child and never found it irritating). Ponds is 176 years old. This means that the ingredients are simple and not filled with chemicals. Petrolatum and mineral oil protect skin. Petrol is not a chemical either, It is formed from ancient plant and animal life. Fertilizer is made out of it ad carbon in botany journals is classified as a nutrient for plants. They renew oxygen by breathing in carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen. Plants/Trees and humans are interdependent on each other. We need to remember that!

I am a recent subscriber and have a question regarding retinaldehyde. Super important for the routine. I was using tretinoin for approximately 4 months and could not get past the constant irritation. I discontinued when I began my research on retinaldehyde and have been using Osmosis Correct (middle strength) would you recommend the Avene retinaldehyde over this product? I don't know the percentage of vitamin A in the product I am currently using but it also contains DNA repair antioxidants and collagen booster. I was going to graduate up to the next step in the Osmosis line but wondering if I should try the Avene retinaldehyde. Look forward to your thoughts!

I have sensitive combo skin and I have hard time with rich vit C serums, I break out especially chin area. I will definetly use this tip in the mornings and change my routine. I also break out badly on chin area when I use retinol around my lips and chin area. It is a bummer because I get the aging shows around chin area and my lip sides. (sagging process started very mildly and I can see it) and I need retinol around that area.

The PC website is confusing, this would be a big help for those of us who want a one and done morning serum.

My new mineral gently tinted SPF face, neck , and upper chest cream with almost 20% zinc oxide and shy of 10% titanium oxide is a dream product plus no fragrance and well carefully formulated other ingredients I believe. Point I am asking is what is ideal component percentage of those oxides should be in mineral spf?

I just received the Tula, bright start vitamin C. I was excited to try it as I was liking the idea of having the vitamin C and day cream in one step.. I tried the Tula last Friday morning and that night was face was very itchy and was burning. It continued to be like that for two days. I stopped all my products as everything was irritating my skin. This is now Monday and I just put on my cerave day cream as my skin feels like chicken skin now! I am assuming it was from the Tula but I did a test on the inside of my arm yesterday and today but I had no reaction.. I am hoping it isn’t the Tula, as I really liked how it went on and gives a little glow. Just wondering how long I should avoid using my other products for? Also BTW I use the Avene, bakuchiol product for over a month and I absolutely love it!!

What if you have very sensitive Rosacea Fungal Acne skin, which tend to not like anything on the skin from AHA/BHA, Retinol, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Green Tea, Snail, Aloe Vera, Centella Asiatica etc. I’ve tried all the hyped products from various brand, western (European), K-beauty and J-beauty which is why I have Rosacea and Fungal
acne in the 1st place. Too much too soon. I’ve tried Bakuchiol in Paula’s Choice and various K-beauty products. I reacted badly, but could either be due to Fungal Acne or the fact that I have Food allergies as well as severe grass pollen allergies🤷🏾‍♀️🙄🙇🏾😢 And prior to ruining my skin, and now having to live with Rosacea and Malassezia Folliculitis, I did use Retinol, and Niacinamide. Now none of what I used to use works. Like I give up. Spent thousands on skincare, hyped, recommended etc. for my skin type/conditions, yet nothing works. All I use now are the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (Cerave is not fungal acne safe), Avene Tolerance Extreme Emulsion and Nivea (Japan) chemical sunscreen. Can’t use physical due to fungal acne. The fungal acne means 99% of what’s on the market is unsuitable for my skin anyway… and even the products I now use, breaks me out, but I haven’t found anything better that doesn’t sting, dry out my skin, or gives me red bumps, hives etc. My skin is probably dehydrated, but also needs fat/oil aka moisturizer, but can’t use it doe to the fungal acne feeds on fatty alcohols, amino acids, oils etc. I use Squalane but if from Olives again breaks me out. And it’s not fattening enough for my dehydrated skin. I drink a lot of water (have for years), and stopped smoking back in 2014. Prior to this I had sensitive combination oily skin, but never acne prone or any issues with acne in general. So frustrating because whatever I try or put on, breaks me out, or triggers the Rosacea and fungal acne. Yet I do believe my skin is very simple and doesn’t like a lot of products.

I have rosacea and used vitamin C for a couple years UNTIL I developed seborrheic dermatitis (thank you compromised immune system and wearing masks so much). Now I can’t wear vitamin C anymore. 😢 I love hearing about the moisturizer having a stable formula.
Unfortunately I think the Makeup Eraser also contributed to my SD development. It did not do well on removing all of my foundation and sunscreen. I only realized it months later when I bought DHC Cleansing oil and used it after the makeup eraser. I used the makeup eraser as normal then used a white washcloth to apply the cleanser and the washcloth came away with makeup/tinted sunscreen on it. I chucked my makeup erasers and advise friends to use other options to clean their face.

    • @davidle3567
      @davidle3567 Год назад +1

This is true, there are not enough studies on bakuchiol. Futhermore, no study has compared bakuchiol to tretinoin, which we know is the gold standard retinoid that gets to work immediately in your skin with over 40 years of research. They've only compared bakuchiol to retinol.
