This is illegal because they made it illegal. You know if your car is good to run. You see cars driving that looks like a monster chewed them up... But they have the tag🤔? We all know. You really going to spend 3k on your car repair because of a check engine light that really doesn't do anything to the performance of your vehicle? Like the air sensor? They will charge you hundreds to fix it. They made this law in an unreasonable way.

This is the modern way of ancient road robbery.
It is appalling to see inspectors, who are meant to uphold standards and integrity, crying foul about going out of business while demanding payment for services they fail to provide. If their business model relies on charging for unperformed services, perhaps it’s time they find another line of work that doesn’t involve exploiting consumers.
It is fundamentally wrong and unjust to require us to pay fees for inspections that are not conducted. The lack of transparency in these fees is unacceptable. Instead of cloaking this issue under the guise of inspections, the state should be upfront and honest with its citizens. If the intention is to raise registration fees, then have the decency to state it clearly and openly, rather than misleadingly bundling it under inspection fees.
We deserve transparency and honesty from our state officials, and we demand that this practice be rectified immediately. Charging for services not rendered is not just poor practice-it’s unethical and potentially illegal.
emission testing makes your car not able to be driven for 25 years if you cant correct a code. safety inspection should not be eliminated it affects us fixed income people im 77 years old

What is emissions testing? Never had to do it.
You're lucky. In California you must get it done every 2 years in Nevada and Texas every year. It's a pain in the butt. I had to even get rid of my Mazda RX7 because rotary engines are designed in a way that they don't pass the stringent California smog / emissions testing. And there was no smoke coming out the exhaust
Dang. In Minnesota they just ask for money the vin of the car and maybe an address to send them to.

Emissions testing is a joke. they want your money unless they will give you the failed test paper to keep you coming back and paying more. Don't trust emission testing. go to the store and get the diagnostic testing it can tell if your car is fine or not. Emission test stations are the govt scams.

I rode around from 2018 to 2023 with an expired sticker. Stopped three times. Let go with a warning twice, two tickets (one dismissed), and one $120 ticket and then I lost my car. Well worth not paying the govt. thugs.
