      I am ALSO 59 and have only driven manual trans cars and trucks since 1991. They are too fun to drive to ever drive an automatic again. My current car is a 2012 Ford Focus, and without the auto trans issues its been a fantastic car and a lot of fun to drive. I agree on the anti-theft aspect of it. Heck, most of them can't even spell "manual."

    I had an 84 Ford Escort that I could park anywhere, it was absolutely glued to the pavement. What thief would be caught dead driving an Escort? Thieves apparently feel the same way about electric cars and many overseas buyers see electric cars as what they are, a mistake. An over priced impractical nerdmoble. The low resale value of electric cars reveals their true value. Electric cars are disposable unrecyclable cars with hazardous waste batteries which will turn scrapyards into toxic waste dumps.

      That usually involves massive force though, aka a rough accident of some sort.
      Long story short, I dare question your "knowledge" about how a car in general and a Tesla in particular really functions and when it does and doesn´t work. Bottom line: it´s a car. Also, one can charge at home, over night. So far I know noone outside of a farm that has their own fuel tank and pump at home.
      So yes, technically charging IS easier and it IS safer (no flammable liquids) and it can be done almost anywhere, albeit at slow speeds if you only have a normal wall socket.

    I don't buy cars based on resale value, theft rates, insurance rates, etc. I buy based on is the vehicle suitable for my needs, do I like the design, features and is it affordable? Nothing else.

    • @codincoman9019
      @codincoman9019 Месяц назад +1

      If you'd be financially smart you would take in consideration the reliability and the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) statistics. Because a car may be affordable, but if it is unreliable and costly to maintain, then you got a lemon. At least consider the resale value, that is a result of reliability, TCO etc.

    Based on the recent collapse of EV sales across North America, nobody wants to steal an EV since they have terrible resale value here and absolutely no resale value in developing countries where there is no charging available.
