I want to provide you with an update as I went to a different Toyota dealership as they resolved my emission rejection issues. This is by disconnecting the battery, plug it back in and recharge the battery, drive it around, and take it in for emissions testing. As a result this passed and was an electrical glitch. They went above and beyond for that I'm grateful. Their customer service was most gracious, very professional, and they are willing to work with you is a plus for me. I had them run the diagnosis which confirmed everything is fine except for the sensors and the converter is not complete and would result in a pass in emissions. I asked them if there are any sensors in the vehicle besides the tire ones they told me no. The ccm normally clears within seconds of starting the vehicle. It continuously runs but from my experience I have not had a vehicle not set a ccm monitor within the first minute. What’s the history on the vehicle? Any mechanical work, accident, or jump starting done to vehicle lately? Why did you lose monitor history?
@@RANDOMFIX I had to replace a bad passenger side valve cover also the previous owner had reset the check engine light which was for a P0171 Code That came back on during my ride home after purchased I had a vacuum leak that I had to fix, I fixed it on the intake and clear the code and I have no check engine light coming back on anymore
Check all connections near the repairs. The ccm should run within seconds of starting the vehicle. If I suggest anything else I will just be guessing, this could a pad pin connection on the ecu, a bad ecu, or a loose connection somewhere. See if there are any tsb for this vehicle and good luck and keep me posted.
Do need both of them to clear? My ecu keeps reseting it self after i turn the car off Then it says not ready I had to drive around for like 1 hour with my obd2 scanner and go to the smog check with the car ON
Are you checking since last cleared? That’s what you should be checking or use the inspection monitor (I/m) button. Your ecu is probably not resetting it maybe losing power so check the connections especially the main ground at the battery.
If you passed the test than chances are you were looking at the wrong monitor reporting screen. There are 2 screens in most scanners. One is Monitor Status "Since DTC's Cleared" and the other is Monitor Status "This Drive Cycle". For a smog test you only care about "Since DTC's Cleared". Ignore the other one.
Thanks for your video tips..it get very stressful I'm having a code pending on evap on my toyota 2012 thundra I fix the problem and erase the check engine I took to the smog they said failed saying I have a pending code for a 4055 small leak evap 😢 he said to drive 121 miles or start up 15 times and off to erase the pending not again!
Hey RANDOMFIX when I connect my obd I get a duplicate of the same code “P0327” but one says “PD P0327” does that mean pending? Also there’s no check engine light on my cars dash and the obd has a “MIL status OFF” I just completed the drive cycle and ready to take to smog, but I don’t know if the code will fail me in California ..thank you so much for your videos they always help this is my 2nd year coming back!
There are three types a of codes, pending, stored, and permanent codes. I have a video of live smog in California from 2022 ruclips.net/video/5DYY3mqGJTM/видео.htmlsi=jDXl8lLsH-iYUBg1 I think the technician address permanent codes in the videos. Let me know what happens
What year is your car? You can pass with a pending code. But if your car is a 2010 and that other code in there might be a permanent code thus you will need to do a bit more.
@kaloty2x yes, keep the fuel level between 1/4 to 3/4, park on a flat surface, avoid sudden turns and brake so the fuel doesn’t slush around. Park overnight for at least 8 hours. Make sure there are no pending codes while you are doing this. You may have to do this a few times. The evap is exempt even in California, I think Oregon is the only state that requires the evap
This is for o2 monitors not setting ruclips.net/video/Yn1-ul62Jio/видео.htmlsi=-ivySiZbqb2I6k8h The answer is there and if it was too easy franchise dealers won’t be charging $269 per hour. What is the back history of the vehicle?
Really hoping you can answer me. I’ve done drive cycle after drive cycle in your video for my 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. The Fuel System Monitor will not change from INC to OK. Which specific drive cycle should I continue to try to do? Any other options? Thanks!
The fuel ccm and misfire run continuously and should be ready within a few minutes of just starting the vehicle. That means there is not something you can really do, the monitor is not passing as there is something preventing it from getting ready as it is not meeting a certain condition that you don’t control. What’s the back story on your dodge?
@@RANDOMFIX brand new battery yes. I don’t recall if it was jump started or not. We are talking 6 months to a year ago. Code has been ever since. My googling told me might be a PCM issue.

Drive to Clear PDTC ruclips.net/video/BDTrfkxBvJU4/видео.html Struggling with a stubborn permanent diagnostic trouble code (PDTC) ahead of a smog test? Here's your solution. Unlike regular codes, PDTCs can't be manually deleted; the vehicle must verify the issue is resolved. Alternatively, you can complete 15 warm-up cycles and drive 200 miles without the issue reoccurring. Once these conditions are met, even if the code persists, a smog technician can confirm your eligibility to pass the test. Rest assured, your vehicle can pass with a PDTC once the specified criteria are fulfilled, ensuring a hassle-free inspection process.
The inspection will check for the number of unset monitor not the count of set monitors. Depending on the state you reside in will determine if you will pass. Here is a video guide ruclips.net/video/QKxDzdTVJOU/видео.htmlsi=cT_rux55MualHLQN

Good question. The older the vehicle becomes the harder it set these monitors as components become effective and parts get clogged you can figure out the rest. And the parameters are getting tougher and the range of performance is narrowed in newer vehicles.
@RANDOMFIX Yes, Im trying to get a smog check, and my check engine light is not on ... but according to the smog tech guy said that my catalyst monitor is not ready to pass the smog check. . So I don't know what else to do.

Did if complete fot you? Very rare to not have the CCM complete. What state are you in?
I have a 97 Pathfinder that won't get cat and O2 sensors ready can you please help
Do need both of them to clear? Look up your state Why State Inspections Are A JOKE (Inspection Monitor Requirements)
ruclips.net/video/QKxDzdTVJOU/видео.html
Many states allow for two monitors for pre 2000 vehicles.

Keep me posted and try to set the o2 sensor if needed first as it’s normally easier ruclips.net/video/Yn1-ul62Jio/видео.htmlsi=tt0CHqc-vmETaqQI
My ecu keeps reseting it self after i turn the car off
Then it says not ready
I had to drive around for like 1 hour with my obd2 scanner and go to the smog check with the car ON
Are you checking since last cleared?
I ment code 4056
I appreciate your feedback Sorry for the late reply, did you get this handled?
@@RANDOMFIX I got it handle pass my smog check just more effort to put in and I finally pass
I have a video of live smog in California from 2022

I think the technician address permanent codes in the videos.
Let me know what happens
What year is your car? You can pass with a pending code. But if your car is a 2010 and that other code in there might be a permanent code thus you will need to do a bit more.
@@stevew9563 it’s a 2004, and I will be taking it very soon to smog hopefully it passes and it’s just a pending code , thank u for you answer
@@RANDOMFIX thank you! Just watched the video, I feel confident that I will pass based off of what the technician said
I have a 2008 Lexus is250 and the evap monitor is the last one not ready. What could i do to get it ready?

Watch it and let me know what questions you have.
@@RANDOMFIX I did what it said but my evap is still incomplete, Do i keep doing it till it works ?
@kaloty2x yes, keep the fuel level between 1/4 to 3/4, park on a flat surface, avoid sudden turns and brake so the fuel doesn’t slush around.
Park overnight for at least 8 hours. Make sure there are no pending codes while you are doing this. You may have to do this a few times.
The evap is exempt even in California, I think Oregon is the only state that requires the evap
@@RANDOMFIX alright thanks man ill let you know if i got anymore questions.
Thanks

The answer is there and if it was too easy franchise dealers won’t be charging $269 per hour.
@@RANDOMFIXthanks for the response. This seems to have started when a dead battery was replaced. No other issues whatsoever.
@Surfnsnowboard3 what is you replace with? A brand new battery?
Did you get a jump start before the replacement?
@@RANDOMFIX brand new battery yes. I don’t recall if it was jump started or not. We are talking 6 months to a year ago. Code has been ever since. My googling told me might be a PCM issue.
What state are you trying to pass a test in? And your truck is not a diesel correct?
Will this work for 2002 tahoe

Good Bye Permanent Codes! Drive to Clear PDTC
ruclips.net/video/BDTrfkxBvJU4/видео.html
Struggling with a stubborn permanent diagnostic trouble code (PDTC) ahead of a smog test? Here's your solution. Unlike regular codes, PDTCs can't be manually deleted; the vehicle must verify the issue is resolved. Alternatively, you can complete 15 warm-up cycles and drive 200 miles without the issue reoccurring. Once these conditions are met, even if the code persists, a smog technician can confirm your eligibility to pass the test. Rest assured, your vehicle can pass with a PDTC once the specified criteria are fulfilled, ensuring a hassle-free inspection process.
If I have 7 monitors good my car passes the inspection?
The inspection will check for the number of unset monitor not the count of set monitors. Depending on the state you reside in will determine if you will pass. Here is a video guide ruclips.net/video/QKxDzdTVJOU/видео.htmlsi=cT_rux55MualHLQN

Yes, my husband put another catalytic converter on and cleaned the sensors. I drove it around and was able to get it to pass. The catalytic cleaner didn't work for mine.
We are in Texas. Thank you for responding 😊.
Glad to help, I’m in Texas as well. Pdtc don’t affect vehicles in Texas but pending or hard set codes can cause you fail. I moved to Van zandt county and lucky there is no smog requirement in my county.

This is crazy why is so complicated if is nothing wrong with the car...😂😂😂
Good question.
The older the vehicle becomes the harder it set these monitors as components become effective and parts get clogged you can figure out the rest.
And the parameters are getting tougher and the range of performance is narrowed in newer vehicles.

My cat monitor comes on...so What do I do ? No check engine light is on.
Sorry I don’t follow what are saying. Your check engine is off but you catalyst monitor is ready or not ready?
Go get a smog check?
@RANDOMFIX Yes, Im trying to get a smog check, and my check engine light is not on ... but according to the smog tech guy said that my catalyst monitor is not ready to pass the smog check. . So the smog tech guy keeps telling me to run the car more days ( wich I already ran it for over 2 weeks) until the catalyst monitor checks good on the pre ready test . So I don't know what else to do.
Drive steady at 55 mph for 20 min without cruise control or anything on like heat or AC after some brand vehicles needed to be done a few times of this same process
What ? please speak in complete sentences. I would love to understand you question or comment but I don’t follow.
What about Suzuki? 😢
lol 😂
I didn’t do one for Suzuki but try this twice and let me know if any monitors are still incomplete
Anyone failed smog because of a cracked windshield?
Never heard a windshield being the determining factor in fail a smog test however some states have a smog and safety. Maybe the state you are has a visual requirement that is incorporated into the smog test? Let me know what state you are in?
