Added “fake” engine noise in the cabin Added automatic rev matching I’ve got a ‘17 so it also lacks all the driver assist stuff and is much more of a raw machine and closer to what driving a manual or really any car was like from the last couple decades. At least the Si is still manual only and compared to the new WRX It’s a prince.
Any trim level over LX should come with fog lights from the factory, period... Honestly I wouldn't even complain if my Sport came with a wiring harness that was "plug and play" to add them afterwards. But no, I have to make my own harness to wire them myself 🤨
I agree with the handbrake. I dont care at all about anything else. HOWEVER: For all the missing features from the Canadian version, this U.S. versions MSRP should be $25,000 at most.
My 2008 Honda Civic EX had a Flat. Well I thought I would just call the Tow Truck to take me to the Tire shop without me changing out the Donut. Well I waited and waited and later found out that the Tow Truck also had a Flat which is why he wasn't coming. It only took me minutes to install the Spare and went to the Tire shop. Had I Not have the Spare I would have to Sit and Wait for the Next Tow Truck. Honda is just trying to be Cheap here.
I had a '15 Elantra Sport that came with no spare, but Hyundai did have a a factory spare tire kit. The kit was like $150 and I also had to purchase a donut tire and have it mounted. Another thing; Because of your SI having a Limited Slip Differential if you did have a spare you can't put the donut on the front of the vehicle (the donuts are usually a smaller diameter than the car's tires which is what will damage the LSD...Maybe part of Honda's reasoning for skipping the spare). You have to remove a rear tire, put the donut on the rear and then put that rear full size tire on the front. If you don't do this you can mess up the LSD. I had a front go flat on my '07 SI and had to do this. Luckily I'm in the minority of people who read the manual and had come across this little tidbit. What really makes no sense is that my son's 2020 Civic Sport Hatch and my wife's 2022 Sport Sedan came with spare, a jack, and all the normal bits for changing a flat. So why not include a spare?????
I was actually calling out other manufacturers for not having a spare. I have the 22 sport touring and it has one. I recommend getting a aftermarket one. I can't imagine getting towed over a flat. It's ridiculous.
The list of features the Canadian Si gets that you don't is a lot longer than that: fog lights, parking sensors, auto-dimming lights, turn signals on the side mirrors, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, rain sensing wipers, fully digital instrument display, shift lights, an auto-dimming mirror with a built-in remote garage door opener and a remote for a home security system, a navigation system, dual zone climate control, wireless connectivity and charging for cell phones, USB jacks for the rear seat passengers, and a spare tire with a jack.
Agree with you but my personal biggest complaint is the paint, ik it’s a Honda issue but I Thought it would be a little bit better, 500 miles in and some lady door dinged me slightly and took the paint off completely, no scratch, just the paint
Not having much HP/TQ is the answer to your first complaint.. I also hate Electric parking brakes. Honda Dealership service departments always overcharge and not as competent we trust they should be. Never deal with stealerships once you get passed your warranty..
I actually scored the Canadian model in the States 'used' with slightly less than 1500 mis on it; knew the owner as well: she lost her job, traded it in for a FIT and scratch, then re-migrated North.
I have a 2018 Honda Civic SI four-door. I spoke with my service manager at my Honda dealer when I bought my SI, who I trust, and he explained that the civic SI has slightly larger brake rotors than other civics. Therefore the space saver spare tire will not work on the SI. I was even offered by them a spare tire kit, Jack, tire and all tools for $150 but he told me it won’t work.
Im old school & prefer a manuel park brake which can double as an EXTRA brake if the foot brake fails. I also resent the rear brake light taking up some of the back window view. My 22 4:30 Civic has a "stcky" electric powered steering wheel but im getting accustomed to it! Wish it had a night-time convenience light.
I understand about that rear brake light but in my case it was the headrests. First thing I did was to take rear headrests off. I have great visibility overall and I like my manual hand break, and I love my 5 speed shifter (6 speed has to much shifting) plus I got my "manual up to 26mpg. Plus I have an full size spare and Jack but I have an Impreza sport manual hatchback which also loves snow days.....😂
I agree about the lack of a spare, it’s just cost cutting. If you buy a spare and jack after the fact it’s much more expensive than just getting one with the car originally.
The Si brake system is nothing like the FL5 . Dude you have to upgrade the rotors and your brake calipers if you really want that aggressive braking lol
If you're coasting in gear, pay attention the live consumption bar, you'll notice that it goes down to zero. It's a technique to seriously improve consumption by maximizing on the cars ability to use no gas while rolling along in gear... I don't a agree about the spare tires, but I do love my Honda jack on the 10th Gen. On a track day, I was able completely lift up the side of the car and do front-to-rear tire rotation. What's cool, it weights about 1lbs, so it comes with me for track days, but the spare tire stay in the shed.
I agree with you about the rear brake light. For the parking brake, I place a block at the tires. I don't trust the electronic parking brake. I live on a hill.
I was thinking about a Civic Si. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one locally or within a reasonable driving distance. Fortunately, I was steered into the direction of an VW GTI. For what comes standard on the GTI vs Si, I believe I got a better deal with the 2023 GTI-S. The GTI’s infotainment system isn’t as bad as reviewers say. I was able to be comfortable with the controls (or lack their of) within the first few rides. Your positive and negative videos prove to me I bought the car for me. Even without driving an Si. I traded in my 21 Mustang GT Premium for the 23 GTI-S. Not because of fuel economy. I believe in Smiles Per Gallon not MPG. I wanted a more engaging driving experience and practically when need (riding my dog or the rare time of riding with the wifey and two kids). 🤘
Manual hand brake , fog lamp and full size alloy wheel should be given (2009 Indian ver has them). I'm driving my civic since 2009 and today only i fixed the only major problem i ever had (power steering main pipe). I want to buy the new one but they discontinued it here :(
what's funny is even TLXs don't come with spare tires, even the top specs. oddly enough foreign models do include a spare tire. Not sure why we can't get them in the US market. At least as an option would be nice but still a middle finger at the end of the day.
I bought 2022 Sport Touring Hatch and I have everything that you're missing except the heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. Honestly, not having a spare tire scared me away from considering other makes and models when it came time to buy a new car. Maybe you could trade up? lol
I have a friend who owns a large auto salvage yard. I have him on the hunt for a spare tire and jack out of a wrecked 2022 Civic. It might take some time but he'll eventually get one.
You right about the rear mirror and the spare tire,, but regarding the Canadian fully loaded Si,I think Honda put that accessories on the luxurious version “Acura” which Canada misses. Those things are really annoying I agree with you
I honestly don't totally understand the point of the new Integra. 8-10k more than a Civic SI for for essentially the same car. The Civic Si is an absolute bargain for what it is.
@@SpeedingMedia i just bought mine for MSRP brand new! I like driving it, but it just eats at me about all the removed features on the US version because i like looking at the value of things and what you get for it. Otherwise pretty solid!
No spare tire!? Honda is one of the last holdouts with including them, I think the new HRV still has one. Maybe the Integra addresses some of your complaints with the si?
Yeah. I'm not a fan of electronic parking brakes. My fk8 type R ended up rolling into the parking barrier slowly when I forgot to apply it once. Ended up cracking the front plastic. Something about just forgetting to pull one button. An actual handbrake though, can't forget that and never done so before.
The car should’ve been priced at $24/25,000 with so many features missing smh 🤦♂️ plus the mark ups was so damn high I had to walk away from 2 dealers… I’m gonna go with the 10th gen si instead
What’s the thing about the gas door. Is it really just a push in gas door without a cap? I would think the car doesn’t slow down when downshifting because of the turbocharger. If it was a naturally aspirated engine like a Nissan z. It would slow down. This car, I would think you need to be aggressive with the shifter because it’s only 200 hp with 6 speed transmission. The gears are very short.
I also love my new 22SI. But no spare tire hello.! Did Honda do it for budget or weight.??. going to look into after market spare tire. I have no complaints with using downshifting for engine breaking with my SI. Great daily driver. Come on Honda the SI still is a commuter car put a spare tire and Jack in it. its almost a deal breaker for me... at least the GTI auto engages so you don't have to worry about flicking the evil switch everytime. I now have to tripple check the red now since one time it was missed and made it half way down my drive way... yes it was in gear or it would have been a mess.
The only negative I can think of, personally speaking, is that with it on, the driver loses the ability to learn to process of how to rev match on their own. My son turned the auto rev match off and prefers to do it old-school style.
Luv my 🇨🇦 22 SI. But the new wiper design is horrible. Basically the driver side windshield washer is useless.
