What did you love about it? Because I was a motley crue fan back when they were good, in the 80's and even early 90's. Before they sold out and re-hired Vince. I enjoyed the book a lot. Even though most of it was obviously either massively exaggerated or made up. It was still a great read and a good story. The movie was less than 2 hours, and just showed debauchery with no consequence, even killing someone was pretty much consequence free, Vince's daughter dying was just "have a cry in a bar", Nikki overdosing was just a 2 minute section. The movie skipped forward so many times and so far it was hard to keep track what was going on, and most of the truly important things were either glossed over or ignored entirely. Past the first 20 minutes it was awful. The only good thing, which did surprise me, was the actors. They all did a mostly great job. Which is a shame, because if they made it into an 8 or 10 episode series they could have really shined in those roles, showing more emotion than just joy at getting wasted.
w0bbl3r I loved Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars most of all, calling everyone “rug monkeys” and “fuck you drummer”, he was the best thing for me. Vince doing Zutaut’s girlfriend backstage, I was hoping to see that cause when I read that in the book I found it hysterical, the pool scene with Ozzy, I thought that was funny. I do agree a lot of it was fast forwarded a lot, the Theatre Of Pain-Girls was whizzed through and I would have liked to have seen Motley’s fall from grace during the Corabi tour and the legal battle for ownership of the band’s catalogue should have been stretched out a bit cause I doubt it was done that quickly.
Hugh crue fan here. The movie wasn't good. Strike that. The movie wasn't needed. We know the story. Didn't need a movie to show us what it looked like.
@@w0bbl3r they wore wigs for fux sake. I wait 10 plus years for a movie to come out and these 4 fuckhands come out in wigs? ( yes that's a big deal to me) The movie was horrible it's hard to believe Motley Crue had anything to do with this movie it was like one of those VH1 movies. You can't take it serious because it's so bad
Man, some of the comments here are just ridiculous. I have read The Dirt twice and still liked the movie very much. Of course is not as good as the book but is an adecuate rock bio pick. To do justice to the book it would have need to be a tv series of 4 or 5 episodes. Still am glad they did the film, enjoy it very much.
Nikki has creative vision, and has followed through with his vision. Kids these days dont know what that is. I am a substance abuse counselor. I work with teenagers. I love watching the creative process when I do art therapy with them. Are kids come in. Cant have their cell phones, no social media. They start reading books, and in art therapy I get kids who didn't even know they could paint or draw. Then I have some where they stopped being creative once they started using. That is cool to watch them re connect. Nikki really has a very visual brain, he seems to see the entire image and feels it.
27:54 Love how Nikki says "That is not gonna happen!" when being back on the road might be a possibility. Hahaha! Fast forward 2020 and they're gearing up for June 2021 Stadium Tour with Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett! FRICKING LOVE THE CRÜE!!!
A lot of the comments are negative saying that so much was left out. It is true but there is only so much you can cram into a less than 2 hour movie. Look at Bohemian Rhapsody, it ended with the Live aid show when Freddy had 6 more years of live ahead of him. I would have liked to see his final years struggling to continue to perform but like I said, there’s only so much you can do with limited time.
Excellent interview . The best i have seen on this promo tour. Pete Mitchell is well informed , and a great interviewer. I will be checking his show! Top notch
This interview reveals many character traits that Nikki and MGK share. I can understand why MGK originally wanted to play Nikki. Always wanting to grow as artists (not just drug addiction).
I fucking love the crue! I saw them twice in the 80's and on the 2005 reunion tour, I don't know if you can really do the book justice in a film that is an hour and half long.... I think it's ok, I will always love the crue!!!
I liked the movie. It took a while to warn up to it. It's too bad the only character that really looked like the real deal was Tommy Lee. But I understand that it's hard to find the right actors that also look alike. They all did excellent jobs of acting the parts though.
If he says he is a photographer then he is by the way when did anyone asks you will you come on my TV show and ask what you did yesterday today and what have you got plans for your future o that right your a loser and have no idea what what you can do that you did yesterday today trust me you will the same thing unless you smoke too much of what ever you are get fired from what ever and now you have to tell your mom a lie you haven't already used peace out don't hate who am I kidding your a loser and all was well just have to say something about some one that worked hard and smart and had hell of a time doing it
I watched the movie & thought that the book was cheated. It should have been a limited series, it would have been longer & more detailed. I felt they just skimmed over the book.
I know it isn't a contest because comparing backstage excesses is irrelevant when the music is all that should matter, but having read both Neil Strauss's 'The Dirt' and Stephen Davis's 'Watch You Bleed', trust me when I tell you..... Guns N Roses' rock n roll lifestyle puts Motley Crue's in the shade All the standard debauchery that comes to mind that we associate with out of control rock n roll bands-- the drugs, the booze, the orgies, the arrests, becoming friends with other world famous rock stars --GNR was doing all that BEFORE they got a record deal! They were still young, broke, homeless street toughs who only played nearby Sunset Strip clubs, and already they were living that lifestyle. Slash & Axl were banging porn stars and Izzy Stradlin was selling heroin to Joe Perry & David Bowie in a time when the world still hadn't even heard of Guns N Roses, and they were all still "nobodies" essentially.
I'm not disagreeing with you but when you get down to the music n lyrics motley crue is a combo of so many types of music, so personally I'd say I think punk is there too! Just my opinion, and just sayin!!!!
The attitude , the image, the DIY street punk angle in their early years was definitly punk more on the fashion/art /glam side of punk just like the ny dolls. And just the fact that they didn’t know how to play their instruments and sounded shitty but didn’t give a damm is punk as fuckkk!! Haha Another thing, Jeff tremaine, the director of the dirt, is an old school California skate punk kid (ie, look at jackass)
Only Nikki can put an intellectual spin on what a hair band obsessed with sex and drugs really were about. Love MC but Nikki loves the sound of his own voice a bit too much.
The movie sucked ! As growing up a huge motley fan. I bought into half this crap , now I think the book is polished Aka bull ! Screwing over Corabi Where’s that story ? Wasted so much money and defended time on the school yard for wasted time .
Just got done watching The Motley Crue movie and where I love all musical documentaries I thought this was a biggest piece of shit and I've ever seen.. first off it was hard to take it seriously because the person playing Vince Neil looks like Dana Carvey and his character in Wayne's World.. second this movie was so freaking depressing it was 2 hours of watching guys get drunk and have sex this movie showed us nothing that we didn't already know it looked thrown together.... I'm just glad I didn't pay to see this piece of shit..
I’ve watched the Dirt every night since it came out last Friday, we fans love it, critics hate it, and that’s exactly the way it’s supposed to be!

John J. Baranski So why did you watch it if you didn’t think it was needed? Could have just ignored it.

Nikki is such a mellow dude...no one would ever think he was such a hellion back in the day
This man's voice damn I think I could listen to him all day
I love this guy! I went to "Theater of Pain" concert at 15 years old. He's so talented! He does not even look like he's 60 years old.
Nikki is absolutely intriguing to listen to.
Gotta get Nikki on Joe Rogan....
SO you can hear HIM Bash President Trump? No thank you!!!
@@10secs2lovetffl #notmypresident, literally, I'm in Australia and we don't even have presidents.
That is facts
Wow Nikki is so informative, articulate and inspiring -- definitely gone from anti-hero to hero in my book!

Nikki, very artistic and very intelligent and bad ass!!!
I saw the Dirt for the 19th time
The movie of the year, and fan for ever ! 🤘🏻
I want Nikki to be my Dad, my brother, my lover, my husband, and my best friend.

27:54 LOL! Motley Crue reunion 2020
That was so cool to watch!!
Nikki Sixx is not a famous photographer. He is more like a famous person who takes pictures. Respect the art of photography.

The answer to the the question....is...the are Motley Fucking Crew
Holy shit! Nikki’s mom dated Richard Pryor ?? Crazzzzy

Lol. Actually, if u read Duff's book he said they couldn't compete with Motleys habits/partying.
Tommy & Nikki drank and snorted them under the table
What... his mom dated RICHARD PRYOR?!?!
What a random fact he gave us for no reason!
It's safe to say his mom *bleeped* Mr. Pryor!
His mom met Richard Pryor in a casino in Vegas. She was a blackjack dealer.
@@lizardz23 probably because the interviewer mentioned he came up during the civil rights era. And yeah, that was a helluva new tidbit to me!
They were bad ass for sure😂🇨🇦
So why won't they ever tour again

Too Fast for Love was a punk album.
That's there first lol

The only other rock autobiography that comes close to the Dirt is Gregg Allman's. His was pretty fucking good, too.
@MR. Allen I'll order that today!
Nikki’s uncle was Don Zimmerman ?!?
Wow. Nikki had some good connections as a kid
Uncle got the job after Motley Crue became famous.
The heroin diaries was a great read what Nikki must of went thru and to b clean all these years fantastic 😂🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
