  • Daily routines are a big part of an Ayurvedic lifestyle, especially if you’re working on balancing kapha - the most stubborn dosha of them all! Here are 5 tips that will help you create an easy, customizable routine that includes self-care practices, exercise, yoga, and more.
    These tips are not meant as a strict set of rules, but rather as a helpful guideline for creating a sense of structure that can be easily implemented into your kapha lifestyle. We’ll walk you through how you can start small by committing to a regular time of day to work out, go to bed, and eat each meal.
    Whether you have a kapha body type or you’re experiencing a kapha imbalance, a daily routine that focuses on counteracting kapha’s natural tendency towards heaviness and lethargy can be a huge help. You may even notice a clearer complexion and increased energy levels as you begin to follow these tips!
    Tips begin at 03:08.
    Kapha also benefits from following a diet of invigorating foods and spices. Watch our video on kapha diet tips to learn more about how to add the right foods into the mix.

    I have a question: what should I do first in morning, drink warm water with lemon or exercise? And what should be the time gap between them?

    • @banyanbotanicals
      @banyanbotanicals  4 года назад +7

      Thanks for asking! We recommend drinking warm water first, after cleaning your mouth and tongue. Ayurveda doesn’t have a set time to wait between drinking warm water and exercising, though it does recommend exercising between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. to take advantage of the kapha time of day. Most people like to practice meditation or pranayama after drinking warm water, and then follow it up with exercise, but we encourage you to experiment with your routine to find what works for you.

    It feels impossible to create a daily routine for myself. I’m a server that works all the time. My schedule is incredibly inconsistent as well. I tried making a set schedule but I just got scrutinized the whole time I tried. I can’t find a steady schedule, steady paying job that will help meet all my goals and bills. Do you have any suggestions? There’s no way to even set up an eating schedule for myself either. If I work mornings, I work from 10:30-3 which I don’t really get the chance to do anymore so my schedule is mostly doubles working 10:30a-3p and then clocking back in from 5-10pm. Then I usually work nights so that’s either 3:30pm-10pm or 5pm-10pm. I have a hard time being able to figure out when to eat dinner that isn’t like 11pm at night.

      That's a tough schedule to work with so perhaps you could benefit from linking mindfulness to the activities rather than the time of day; for example, when you do eat, take a moment to give thanks for your meal and other blessings and when you are done with your meal, cover your plate with a napkin, push your plate away from you, or take it to the sink and clean it. Doing small things like this mindfully can really help create a sense of routine no matter what time of day it is. Another thing I like to do is take a moment to breath when I step outside for the first time each morning. Just 5 seconds to stop, look around, and listen really brightens my day and makes me feel grounded and connected to my environment. Hope this helps! Blessings.

      Thank you for tuning in! A great place to start is with balancing vata dosha. Because of vata’s mobile nature, it's usually the first to go out of balance and the first to come back into balance. Something you might try is a nice morning meditation followed by an easy walk. That meditation is really going to help ground vata dosha while that walk will motivate kapha. Is it not enough to brush your tongue? Or does it have to be scrapped?

    • @banyanbotanicals
      @banyanbotanicals  4 года назад +5

      Great Question! Because the tongue is soft and spongy, a firm and inflexible object like a tongue cleaner cleans it far more effectively than a supple entity like a toothbrush. A tongue scraper simply does a superior job of loosening and clearing any accumulations from the folds and grooves of the tongue so that they can be completely eliminated from the mouth.
