OS motors are coming out with a clone Sur Ron motor and controller combo but in the 8kW nominal power range. So with a 60v battery, it will have close to the performance of running a 72v battery but you will of course suffer range unless you add a piggyback battery for that extra bit of range. You should check out the Drill one E-bike, the thing is a beast. Nice riding, Edwin, so jealous of your trails, lol.

I don't see why not. I defiantly would not buy a used battery as I don't know what abuse it has ben thrue.

Curious about the motor video. Id love a blue sur ron but obviously Luna doesn’t order them anymore. So I figured upgrading a Segway with better forks battery, controller, ext. would be my best option for getting blue. But I don’t wanna spend all that money if the motor isn’t the same.

I’ve done a little research and it looks like the motor is different but not necessarily better or worse I do a whole video on it in the future once I figure out what’s going on

Well a year later and you can’t find a Segway under 6k and the surron is $4400.

Segway site says X160 is 3w and X260 is 5w, so there's a difference here, or is it not? I am very interested in doing what you do... get x160 and upgrade but my problem is... is the motor exactly the same?

its kinda sad bcs they increased the price of the segway x160, same cost as a surron now pretty much, maybe like 1k less, checked at a local shop though, wayyy cheaper

Too bad they figured out that the X160 motor is NOT the same as X260. You would need to upgrade the internals also for it to be identical to the X260 motor. You seemed to get decent performance in spite of this, but how is your motor holding up?

what's max speed before/after cutting the green wire? you need motor upgrade to harness the gains...the sur ron x motor is stronger than the 160 motor. controller is not the motor.

The motors are not the same. Light bee X has an 8k motor 160 has a 5k motor most likely overheat and shut off

Your link to Amazon shows the Segway X160 as unavailable (to Australian buyers anyway) and only a 240w motor-surely the Sur Ron motor is 6000w???

so, I am a little confuse. This is supposed to save money but when I look at the parts list the BAC8000 kit and the range extender total over $1800 that does not even count the battery replacement. I love the built but calling this a budget build does not seem to be accurate.

    • @briandhoward6137

Starting with an x160 for a build opposed to the x260 saves about 1000 out of the gate

Hi Edwin listen thanks a lot for getting back with me on the question that I had earlier I've got another question on that stock x160 harness coming out of the neck going into the new controller you had mentioned that you cut the green wire with the black stripe is that correct just wanted to make sure before I start doing any cutting thanks so much for your time
