How Much Did I Save Building My Own Surron? $$$

- I built my own Surron x starting with a cheaper electric motorcycle model the Segway x160. This is the same bike with smaller forks and tries plus a weaker battery. My first step was to buy a Surron X or X 260 battery then sell in smaller battery. Next I bought dual clamp forks and traded my 17" wheels for the 19s from a Surron X. Get every thing used and save some money! This was a super easy DIY. With a few wrenches and Allen keys you can build your own Surron.

These are all Chinese sourced components that rebrand locally. Every seemingly specialized component? Yep; it’s a Chinese product. Search long enough and you will find a exact part or one better that is made in China. They are running a decade in advance of our EV understanding.
I think if I could get a Segway x160, I'd be happy w/ that then I'd upgrade the parts over time whenever I save up enough.... I don't do much off-roading so it would be a street beast for me to get around town and not have to use gasoline, I'd probably look to set up a solar panel so I could charge the bike for free too, a completely emissions free transportation is a dream bike for me. 😁❤️
I really want to get one of these for my Dad. He’s in his mid seventies and still riding a KLX 250 but I think this would be an awesome addition to his arsenal.
The price of the Segway x160 has almost doubled. Pass
Not to piss everyone off but i bought a brand new sur ron x for $53.88 and it was shipped straight to my doorstep ...thanks snapchat
fun fact, the motor is actually smaller than on the x260/ light bee x
Everyone’s gotta realize everything is Chinese. Everything
Gas is expensive i have 3000 miles on mine (starting mid July last year) basically commuting. 20 miles per gallon ( Ford ranger) =150 gallons. 5$ per =$750 per year I didn't spend on fuel. I floor it to and from work 45mph for 11.5 miles and still have 55% battery left. Id be losing money and having less fun if i didnt get one last year.
This Segway is now $4500 not $3000
Great video!! Would be great to have a similar video on doing the 72v conversion as I'm looking to do the same to mine when it finally arrives
Thank you for this - very informative. for someone intending to build a much upgraded surron x 72v/upgraded controller/supermoto tyres upgraded forks/brakes etc its a no brainer to start with the segway.
Wish I would have seen this before I bought my Ron. Great video Edwin
Loved this format!
TY TY TY.. You saved me $600 just on the bike order. Cant w8 to do more. I never sub to ppl but you earned it.
Thank you so much I was going to buy a surronX for $5000 but I will do what you have done such a good idea
LESSSS GOOOO, great video bro!
loving you vids Ed, just subbed.
Holy crap, did not realize the X160 controller can handle 60V (vs the 40V battery it comes with). You just saved me $200 and a drive!
Damn, thanks for this! Badass!
I believe the engine numbers are different on the 160 and light bee S in the newer model… just something to keep in mind not sure if the upgrade path is as vast power wise but probably not an issue. I would have loved a Red Ron! Though powder coating the frame is definitely something I’m going to be doing. Good to see an upload looking forward to the next one!!
