This game brought something back I haven’t experienced since Jet Set Radio Future… This was an absolute banger of a game. Nine Inch Nails as a boss theme? Like, what?! This was an experience.
You can call me a boomer or anything but I'm gonna say it. They don't make videogames like they used to, Hi Fi Rush is the definitive proof. Sequels, Prequels, safe, copy pasted gameplay visuals and music stain the videogame industry. Hi Fi Rush said fuck to all of that and followed each principle to make an actual good fkn game. Each pillar of this game is meticolously worked through to be in perfect synergy with the rest of the game. Studio Tango took a risk and they created art in it's purest form in a world where monetization not only takes priority (as it should) but completely snuffs out anything remotely innovative.
I don’t know what it is but that part in particular makes me feel good. Hearing that in the game for the first time was when I knew this was going to be a great ride.
Games like this have already been made they just go under the radar for some reason. Like NSR, which is honestly better than this game even though I enjoy this one a lot.

I think a lot of the melodies in the game are if not the same, similar to this, so that may be a reason, and it's honestly so great, makes the game even better for me

The way that it loops in the menu is like a capsule of the most perfect segment of the song; it screams to be free; airy, upbeat and pure unadulterated joy. It feels undefeatable. Like falling against the wind at the top of a mountain, leaning your weight against the breeze with nothing ever standing between you and the things you seek. It's hype captured in musical form. There is so much going on; nine different instruments (that I could count, including vocals) that it just feels like you're left no choice but to surrender to the energy of it. Happiness sounds like this song.
Funny how the very first level of the game is, at the end, still my favorite regarding visuals and music. They made one heck of an entrance and I was HOOKED the second Chai shot up overlooking the campus. Amazing feeling, got chills!
The fact that this game under performed sales wise is a goddamn Atrocity. It's such a refrechange of pace on so many levels. My only regret is waiting as long as I did to play it. And I hope that this becomes a cult classic on the level of metal gear rising revengeance or Crypt of the necrodancer which it clearly took some inspiration from.
